  1. Hi all Marie - nice to see you --- I still have the shoes you sent me. I have been missing for a long time, and especially since May. We were supposed to go on a two week British Isles Cruise this summer out of Amsterdam, but on May 28th my husband was diagnosed with melanoma (nodular - which is a very rare and aggressive kind) and he passed away on July 24th. After that I was not even able to go back to the family beach house and see the ocean as we spent July 4th weekend there and when I went back after he passed it was too hard.

I will be cruising December 18 - 27th with my mom and the twins(now 18). The oldest will not be coming as he is currently working in St. Thomas at a Wyndam resort where his dad works.

I have also lost a significant amount of weight, so I will have some dresses that I want to give away this week.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. And I have missed you

  2. So glad I popped in. Things have been nuts here. One of my sons Clay Has been struggling since September and been hospitalized a few times and many visits. Plus I am working full time still

Not sure if I mentioned in here I actually got married in October. We had discussed getting married on our new tears cruise but my brother would not be there so we put together the perfect elegant rustic wedding in 6 weeks in our backyard for 75 people

I miss you all. And hopefully when I finish some spring cleaning will post some items.

I have also lost about 30 pounds since getting sick but. Still have another 30+ to go.

Despite clays health we have a 14 day British Isles cruise planned for August and just booked airfare. This is one thing that my boys all love travel. Have wheelchair will travel.

Love to all. And Marie glad to see you posting so hope that mean you feel better. And would love to be in the drawing for the bag.

    Love to al

    Sharon

And feel free to email me I. Any of you like at Sharon.goldin730 at gmail dot com

  3. Kids under 12 allowed. My boys will be 18, 18 & 22 so there will be a fee. No not booking suite for them. They share a veranda room. New Years they had a hump veranda next to my husband and I. In August we are sharing suite with my mom

  4. We are doing this trip August 8th on Celebrity. It will be my husband and myself and my 3 boys (18,18 & 22) and my mom. My mom uses a cane and a scooter on the ship. At times my boys who all have a genetic metabolic disease also need wheelchairs

For my mom we use a folding wheelchair on excursions and she takes her cane. Also we only do private excursions. I work with private tour guides to customize trips for us an ensure that she has access to elevators and to get as close as possible to destinations.

We managed to do the Baltics in 2013. It takes a lot of planning but can be done. But I suggest a wheelchair for excursions. I am in the process of researching and contacting guides now. Will let you know what I find. And if you end up on same cruise as us you are more than welcome to join us on our private tours.

I know my mom could not do large bus tours

  5. Looking forward to trying this in August when we cruise the British Isles. The only issue we have is that my husband and I and my mom are traveling in a suite and my boys (twins 18 and oldest 22) are in a Veranda and they cannot eat with us in the suite area unless we pay $50/person. Now granted they most likely would not eat the food.

Luckily we do like to get dressed for formal night so we will arrange to eat in the MDR those nights and we will take the boys to the Lawn Grill one night. Most other nights my guess is the boys will be hanging with friends and eat in the buffet or Bistro on 5 and us in the suite restaurant.

    Looking forward to it

  6. We are taking a 14 day British Isle Cruise that includes a stop at Le Harve. There will be 6 of us My husband and myself (51,52), my mom (75) and my 3 boys twins (18 and oldest 21).

I have been to Paris several times (but not in last 20 years) as has my mom. However, neither my husband nor my boys have been.

Now the dilemma. I know it is 2 1/2 hours each way to Paris (we did this type trip when we cruised to Berlin stopped in Rostock. We really enjoyed that excursion but having been to Paris several times I am not sure that Paris can be enjoyed in that short of a time. BUT my 3 boys all have a genetic metabolic disease and we have a motto to live life to its fullest so as we try to show them the world I want them to experience as much as possible and not sure if we will get back to Paris in the near future.

Hence the dilemma. We will be at Mon, Aug 10 Le Havre (Paris), France 7:00AM 9:00PM. So do we go to Paris and do an overview (boys so want to see the Eiffel Tower) or do Normandy (they all love History too). The boys want to do Paris but I am debating how much it will take out of them

So PLEASE looking for opinions for those who have done Paris from Le Harve and what you did and if you liked it and would recommend it or against it.

Also tour company suggestions. We will need a private tour for 6 because of a wheelchair and the like.

    Thanks in advance all

  7. Actually we cruised last December on the Silhouette with no issues and in general like the product they offer what I do not like is a how a simple question makes you all so judgmental and making assumptions. Royal Caribbean gave of my 3 chronically ill boys the most amazing Make a Wish Trip. As such we would like to support them. In general the Royal ships are too big when we travel with my mom 75 and her BF 85 so Celebrity does have what we want. However if a current issue is not resolved it is likely we will sail elsewhere. I am not the person to let one person destroy the reputation of a store or cruise line etc. all I asked was a simple question and people just want to attack. This is sad..I have 3 boys 17, 17 & 21 with a incurable dies ease. Cruising is a great way for us to travel. If I would rather not have to deal with a specific Person I do not find that unreasonable.

  8. Before you rest your case I was not harassed by all just one and endure should have been ensure. I no I just did not like how something was handled and had to endure nasty looks and the like because I complained. Don't rest your case until your. Are sure beyond a reasonable doubt. One thing about these forums everyone wants to jump to conclusions or slam people who ask a question. If you had a bad experience with someone who glared at you purposely ignored you while acknowledging everyone else with you and lied to your face you would not want to be around them or be subjected to them

  9. There is a story behind this going back a year and a half. I had a specific issue with someone who needed an attitude adjustment - no not me 😃 was just wondering who was on board. FYI issue was on Constellation not the silhouette which we sailed on last Christmas and was wonderful.

  10. It is what you are comfortable. I love shoes and tended to only wear 3-4 inch heels. However over the last year because of degeneration in my hips I can't wear heels so I have taken to wearing my cowboy boots winter spring summer or fall. Word them with my wedding dress in October and with my little black dresses and in the summer with my dresses. With white or real summery fabrics I do have open toe shoes with low chunky heels to wear. But yes I wear my boots year round

  11. We love formal night and I have a good selection of gowns and fancy dresses. I love to dress up as does my mom. My boys 17, 17 & 21 are very fashion forward, especially the twins specifically picking their shirts and ties. One would steal nick cannon's wardrobe if he could. My step daughter 28 and her BF also love it. My other half (soon to be husband in12 days) enjoys it to as he wears jeans or shorts daily as he works from home

  12. We do not currently have a service dog - although all 3 of my boys have a genetic metabolic disease and one has seizures - BUT several of my friends do. Emotional support animals ARE NOT considered service animals under that ADA - here is a good link - http://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm

Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA

Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. - Clearly the dog in the stroller was doing NOTHING.

Also about what is allowed to be asked:

Inquiries, Exclusions, Charges, and Other Specific Rules Related to Service Animals

When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person’s disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.

Allergies and fear of dogs are not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service to people using service animals. When a person who is allergic to dog dander and a person who uses a service animal must spend time in the same room or facility, for example, in a school classroom or at a homeless shelter, they both should be accommodated by assigning them, if possible, to different locations within the room or different rooms in the facility.

A person with a disability cannot be asked to remove his service animal from the premises unless: (1) the dog is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it or (2) the dog is not housebroken. When there is a legitimate reason to ask that a service animal be removed, staff must offer the person with the disability the opportunity to obtain goods or services without the animal’s presence.

Establishments that sell or prepare food must allow service animals in public areas even if state or local health codes prohibit animals on the premises.

People with disabilities who use service animals cannot be isolated from other patrons, treated less favorably than other patrons, or charged fees that are not charged to other patrons without animals. In addition, if a business requires a deposit or fee to be paid by patrons with pets, it must waive the charge for service animals.

If a business such as a hotel normally charges guests for damage that they cause, a customer with a disability may also be charged for damage caused by himself or his service animal.

Staff are not required to provide care or food for a service animal.

  13. We were on the constellation last summer Amsterdam (RT) to the Baltics and i found some of the lectures very good and some disappointing. I found the one of the history of Russia not very good as I think the facts were a bit screwed up - history buff - but on the other hand my oldest son - then 20 was fascinated by most of them

  14. My boys 16,16 & 20 wore nice shorts khakis & plaids as did my partner in crime Roger (shorts one night & jeans one night). I wore a casual dress as I almost always wear dresses as dud my stepdaughter. My mom wore capris. We went twice very casual & comfortable & yummy. Can't wait to go back this December. Save room for the best dessert on the ship the warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream

  15. I gave found great boys clothes at Kohls. My boys are older now twins turn 17 in 25 days & oldest 21 in April. However one of my twins could still wear boys 16 now except for the length now. But last year for an affair and then our Baltic cruise got him a size 16 suit for under 50 and got great use of it, the jacket still fits, You can also Order online
