  1. how do you know they had drink packages? Why were you following them around?

We were seated on the table next to them in the main dining room and would hear them calculate the amount they had been drinking each night. It wasn't a quiet conversation.

I guess I'm just a bit more sensitive to seeing elderly intoxicated people that need assistance walking due to working in the medical profession. Younger people, yep, a dime a dozen, and them falling wouldn't be fatal, its just disappointing that due to hanging out around some of the same areas you could easily tell they were utterly intoxicated but there was no stopping the bar tender from continuing to serve them.

  2. The premium Drink packages have a hell of alot to answer for.

I took my son on the Explorer recently and seeing drunk stumbling older ladies onboard was not a pleasant experience. Yes everyone is entitled to a happy holiday, but seeing that type of behaviour, watching ladies seriously not being able to walk, except up to a bar and being served yet another drink, after having just downed one five minutes ago was really horrible. Was half expecting to see one fall over and break their hips at some stages, and seeing people have to assist them back to their cabins was not exactly nice. But hats off to them, they slept, then started it all again the following day!

If you love getting drunk and everything you'll love the packages, because they dont slow down serving you drinks, and you can be a right pathetic drunk onboard early on in the evening making things uncomfortable for those with families.

  3. Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but noticed via facebook today RCI was "excited" to mention they have upgraded their onboard credit for future bookings. Now it would be exciting if I traveled in suites, and my next cruises I had been looking at just getting inside cabins so with them totally slashing the advantage you used to get having future cruise bookings I'm regretting having purchased 3 future credits because I'd probably be better off waiting for a half decent sale and get a better onboard credit. 10-14 night cruises have been slashed from $150 to spend down to $75, and 15+ nights $200 down to $100.

  4. loved attending the art auction on my recent Voyager cruise. No I didn't buy any, but they had some gorgeous limited editions up for offer, and its interesting looking into the artists post cruise. My favourite were Rob Kaz and Fabio Napoleoni. They did have gorgeous prints by Thomas Kinkaid as well. I dont think I would be buying the art as an investment, over the fact that I actually loved some of the works, and their limited editions looked so much nicer than just poster prints.

  5. loving the photos, especially of Hong Kong. Have fond memories of a trip there with my son in 2009, so nice seeing nothing has changed.

As for the casino, there are a couple of photos at this link http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1643776&highlight=voyager+of+the+seas of it. Honestly, without knowing what it looked like before hand, I wouldn't know how on earth they changed it. Didn't look what I would class as refurbished as such, and seemed in line with everything else on the ship. That being said I haven't been into many casinos so wouldn't know what to expect. Nothing stood out as being extra shiny new, if you get what I mean.

  6. I had a look because I heard of the dinner specials. Hadn't planned on paying for any of the at a cost restaurants so was tempted to see what was on offer. Considering its just hubby and myself going, and on nights 1 or 2 it hasn't tempted me to find strangers to dine with. Will enjoy all the other options instead. No great loss. They just I guess lose out by not enticing those that weren't considering it in the first place I guess, which is the category I fall into. No skin of my nose in the end :) Just excited to be cruising

  7. there is a site I found that shows the percent of cabins sold, and also lists the changes in pricing across all levels of cabins as they happen, however I think it must be attached to a travel agent so it goes against their advertising policy. You do start getting obsessed though watching the prices, but on the bright side, it helped upgrade me from an inside to junior suite when the prices dropped to sell out all the upper rooms and now just insides and some outsides left on our May cruise. maybe search net fish cruise or similar and you might find it.
