  1. We have two cruises booked back to back on Celebrity Reflection and have already checked in on line for the first cruise.  Does anyone know if we will need to check in again for the second cruise, or does Celebrity treat thit this as one cruise, which would make a second check in unnecessary ?  Thank you.

  2. We completed the Eastern and Western itineraries on Sky Princess on 3/4/2023.  Immediately after disembarkation, my wife received a link to the customer satisfaction survey, but I did not.  I made two separate calls to Princess customer service , requesting the survey, with no success.  I then sent a typed letter to John Padgett, CEO of Princess operations for Carnival, via USPS. That was 3 weeks ago, with no response.  I thought that senior management would be responsive, but, apparently not.  Does anyone know how to contact someone at Princess who will actually respond and act on my  request?  Thank you.

  3. I was booked on the Scenic Paris to Normandy cruise for 6/10/2020.  Scenic has never sent an email or any type of personal  correspondence that they have canceled this trip  Instead, I had to call my travel agent to find out that this cruise was canceled due to the Coronavirus.  Like many other cruisers, I am upset that they are offering FCC or only 75% refund of my fully paid fare.  My wife and I are senior citizens and can't count on our health for the foreseeable future.  My travel agent has appealed to Scenic, but they only offer the standard FCC or 75% refund.  As pointed out in the cruise contract, section 5.3-C.  It states that Scenic will refund my fare if They cancel the cruise.  Yet, when confronted with this fact, their only excuse is to say that this is not their fault.   OK, it's not their fault, but it's not mine either.  The contract is binding to both parties, but Scenic refuses to abide by it.  What have they done to earn 25% of my money if I request a refund.  Any suggestions ?

  4. I am an avid cruiser and have sailed on many Celebrity cruises.  Regarding the Edge and the infinite veranda, I will definitely go out of my way to avoid it.  I like the flexibility that a conventional veranda cabin affords me.  If I want to go outside to read or catch a sunset while my wife gets ready for dinner or catches a nap, I can do so with the conventional Veranda cabin.  In a Virtual cabin, the air conditioning goes off (to my understanding) while the window is open, filling the room with warm air and light.  So, it's either all or nothing with the virtual veranda.  In a conventional arrangement, the wife gets to nap in air conditioning and limited light. It's also my understanding that the ship can lock the window for safety reasons or something as simple as maintenance .  Also, I was wondering if the IV design has any way to deal with the "wind tunnel" effect if the window is open and someone opens the door to the passageway?. I like choices and I think that Celebrity has limited our choices with this design.  Maybe I'm a traditionalist, but count me out for this "innovation".

  5. Chic and The Grande on the 3rd deck are for traditional dining, and American Icon and Silk on the 4th deck are for MTD.

However, at 6pm (1/2 hour after early traditional dining begins) they sometimes use the unoccupied seats in Chic/Grande to seat people on the MTD queue. (So, if you are more than 1/2 later for traditional dining, they may give your seats away)

Except for decor, there really is no difference between the dining rooms. They all use the fleetwide menus now.

Thank you. I was reading old information based on Dynamic Dining, which, I now know, has been discontinued by RCCL due to negative feedback, and replaced by the traditional and my time dining common among most ships today. So on this ship, I guess that the MDR is now the four venues that were mentioned previously.

  6. My wife and I are veteran cruisers, but first time on Quantum class ship. We are RCCL Diamond status. Just booked 8/17 sailing for Anthem of The Seas and went on line to reserve dining times in the no fee restaurants. I had been told that there is no main dining room, in the traditional sense, and there are four venues that do not have fees and do accept reservations; The Grande Restaurant (requires suit or tux), Chic, Silk, and American Icon Grill. I was only able to reserve the times for the nine day voyage and not able to select any of the four no fee venues. On my cruise calendar, next to each day, all that it says is "My Time Dining" with the time that I have reserved. No opportunity to select any of the four restaurants. Has anybody had a similar experience and, if they have, how were you able to specify the restaurant that you wanted for each day of your cruise.

  7. I'm talking about which deck your room is on. Looking at cruising Royal Caribbean, first time, will be doing interior room.

I always make sure that there are passenger cabins directly above and beneath us. Public areas can be noisy, with chairs and footsteps making your cabin noisy. Service areas, such as kitchens and bars, can also generate extra noise, especially during very late and very early hours.

  8. On our most recent two cruises (RCI) we did as you did on Celebrity: reserved our My Time Dining times online for each night of the cruise. We pretty much knew our plans ahead of time and the RCI web site made it easy to reserve ahead. We've chosen the MDR open seating on our upcoming Zuiderdam cruise and based on comments I've read on this forum over the last couple of months, I'm not really looking forward to the three-days-at-a-time reservation situation. I know, we could just show up when we want and likely have a short wait and may end up doing that if the reservation situation is similar to what Cindy experienced above. Too bad HAL can't be a little more flexible on this.

    Thank you.

  9. You can only make reservations for Open Seating once you are on the ship.

Reservations can be for any size table and only during the times between 5:15 - 6:15 and 7:30 - 9. You can make them for 3 days at a time.

Thank you. 7:30 to 8:00 is fine for us. Just didn't feel like being required to eat at 8:30 each night with late seating and find early seating just too early.

  10. Thank you for your response. Another cruiser indicated that we can make reservations between 7:30 and 9:00. 7:30 to 8:00 suits us just fine, so we'll give it a shot. If we don't like the system, I guess we'll have to revert back to late seating or go back to cruising on Celebrity or RCI, which, as I said in my post, seems to have a better system. Enjoy future cruises.

  11. Hello. We have traveled on HAL 4 times previously, each time choosing late seating. This time, however, based on a prior pleasant experience on Celebrity during which we chose anytime dining for the first time, we decided to try it on the Zuiderdam when we leave on Feb. 15, 2016. On Celebrity, one can go on line and select dining times for each night of the cruise, prior to departure. On HAL, however, I do not see that option. My travel agent indicates that I can make a reservation for no more than three nights at a time on HAL, and this must be done with the dining room staff once i board the ship.. On celebrity, I was seated almost immediately each night, without the bother of a visit to the Maitre de. Is there anyone who has had experience with anytime dining on the Zuiderdam or any HAL ship who can give me some advice? Since I know the itinerary for the entire 11 days, I would like to make all of the reservations at one time, with varying seating times, depending on the port, and be done with it. Thank you.
