    1)  Do you think that we should switch to the more flexibile "Select Plus" option?  Will we have to wait in lines and if so, approximately how long?

    2) Do you think that if we keep our 8:30 time we will be able to eat at the other restaurants with ease?  OR will this be a big hassle to make other arrangements?

    3)  If we stay with the 8:30 dining, will we miss out on all the shows and events that will be taking place at night?

Thank you for any of your thoughts or opinions - we are noob cruisers having only been on a couple before.

    1. Iwould and if you go at the right time we have found no long wait times.

    2. I think it should be ok to move, but I cannot see how this is going to work personally, but I guess with everyone moving it will be fine

    3. No they have early showings of the shows for people who dine late x

  2. How do you stop the numerous emails and go back to just the one saying there has been a comment?

I was happy before, I would get 1 single email to say there has been a comment, and I need to revisit, now I get every single comment emailed to me and its driving me batty with all the threads I'm subscribed to. please help

Also why do I have to log in when I change from the thread I'm following to try see new threads?

  3. Just curious...what is a barafia? I looked it up but can’t find it...is that an auto-correct invention?

Its not an auto correct but there is a very good chance I have spelt it wrong. Its like a very posh blazer made of out suit material. I asked my hubby he can't spell it either ;p

  4. I doesnt thrill me that they got rid of the formal nights on the X

that said, I now always go and just do me, so this means on all Chic (stupid name) nights I wear my formal attire, my hubby doesnt follow suit and wear a tux but he he will either wear a suit or dress trousers and a barafia. I do not feel out of place and in fact have had it said to me that people who wear just a cocktail dress feel more out of place and underdressed, more so then we are over dressed.

I never Bring jeans with me and my husband would never dream of wearing shorts of an evening.

I do wish the Crew were more strict on dress code, and seeing people coming into dinner wearing shorts does irk me. I don't get why some people pay all this money to come on a cruise to then give out it is too formal, the whole experience was always formal and dressy it is a shame that these companies have given in to the few and lowered the tone.

Don't shoot me down please it is just my opinion.

  5. Maybe you could try this before I do screen shots (that usually aren't great quality):

Go to the X website, click on menus in upper left corner, then ships, then Edge. When you get to the Edge section, scroll down to Culinary Experience and click on "view details" and then click on "Specialty Dining". Scroll down the specialty restaurants - each has a description of the restaurant - some have a menu link at the very end of each narrative (above the "Book and Edge Cruise" button). If you click on "View Menu" you can view the Raw on 5 and Magic Carpet menus (the Raw on 5 menu looks blank until you scroll down a little).

If that doesn't work, I will do some screen shots. :D

Thank you it took a bit but I got there in the end. x

  6. The Magic Carpet is the size of a tennis court and goes up and down the rails and is positioned on 4 different decks. When it is on deck 2, it will be used for tendering, deck 5 as a seafood restaurant, deck 14 as an extension for the pool deck with a full bar and place for live music and table and chairs for guests and occasionally (1-2 times/cruise, most likely), it will be on deck 16 for Dinner on the Edge, an exclusive dinner experience.

The schedule of movement will be in the daily agenda that you receive. My guess is that it will reposition 2-3 times/day. No guests will be allowed on it while it is moving and it is unclear whether staff would be on it at times when it is moving.

On 2, 14,and 16, it will not be in front of any cabins. When it is positioned on 5, the people in cabins on 6 that are in back of the Magic Carpet and right around it, may have some views inside the MC and vice versa, so could put their shades down, unless they want a show. ;) It would only be there 2-3 hrs a day, I would think, for the Magic Carpet seafood restaurant. The times will be in the daily agenda.

You won't have to worry where you are located. :D I think some people are excited to be near the magic Carpet for their first cruise on the Edge to see it work, but we will see if it is disruptive or just a minimal distraction.

thank you so much for such a good and detailed answer, now my husband wants to know who you book this sea food one he wants to go haha, he said he didnt see it online

  7. I have a quick question; The magic carpet thing, what ever it is called, what is the idea? like does it go up and down? and if so why? like is it all on it for dinner it goes up and down, or what? and what about people in the cabins along the way people on the carpet thing will be able to see in, so they will need to keep blinds closed for privacy?

or have I got it all wrong?

  8. Hi, We are looking for a very specific cruise and wondering how we go about finding it, we wish to sail on a Celebrity ship only, and fly to Sydney spend a few weeks there and then get a cruise all the way back to Southampton.

Im guessing the best way to do this is to get a repositioning cruise, but I don't ever see them advertised, how do I find out? We wish to do this in either 2018 or 2019.

    Thank you
