  1. Hello all, going on the Dream in April on the Transatlantic crossing.

Just wondered if there are any special offers for booking the speciality restaurants,ie book all as a package to get a discount.

Do you think it may happen later in the cruise?

Any favourable comments on these venues?

    Thanks,Jim

We ate in the sirens speciality restaurant last September it was very good may have to use them on the TA crossing if the food in the main dining room has not improved. As said sometimes if the bookings are slow they put offers on

    worth a try!

  2. We booked on the Dream TA in April as we were able to fly from Newcastle airport but this will be our last Thomson cruise on long haul flights as there are no flights from airports past Manchester as per normal everything is related to living in the south. we are having to fly from Heathrow for other cruises which are with RCI as we have cruised many of Thomson itineraries and wish to go Australia and the Far East

good news that the Celebration will spend summer 2017 from Newcastle that will be a possibility as only 30 minutes to the port from home.

We did the Arctic Circle cruise on the Spirit from Newcastle in July 2014 it was one of the best cruses ever and no flying so 2017 looks hopeful!

I totally agree with this thread, we have done a couple of Carribean cruises with Thomson and getting flights has always been limited. We were looking at the Discovery next winter and there are only two flights from Glasgow for the whole winter season. It seems very surprising as the Scottish flights always sell out.
  3. Talking of food standards on the Dream we did have enough negatives to make comments about the food standards and while you may get what you pay for is not the right attitude.Thomson does not promote its cruises as

low priced in fact all the cruise companies have offers on, and from what I

hear from other cruisers the standard has dropped on many ships ie having to pay extra to get a steak for example. This has been the case since speciality

restaurants were added on the ships. we have cruised on the Dream many times and Thomsons other ships and this was the worst food experience ever in the restaurant many other passengers made the same comments but

maybe they do not wish to say publically, so the question is do we try again

or go with another company, have to think about it, as the rest of the travel with Thomsons to and from their ships works well.

  4. Yes defender the food quality on the Dream is a downward spiral, the food in the buffet was dire in April , like a works canteen. We have just been on the P&O Britainnia the food and ship, entertainment was superb and cheaper than thomson in a balcony

Had several cruises on the Dream the food has always been very good. Just off a two week cruise and the standard in the restaurant was really dire just three decent evening meals in two weeks, awful presentation, cold, service slow no choice have better food in our local pub. Speciality restaurant may be al a carte but why have to pay extra to get a decent meal, ok for a special

occasion, I cannot believe that it was the same Ex Chef on board as in our February cruise where we had no complaints. Shall think twice about cruising on the Dream
