Today was excursion booking day for us, DV stateroom. I got on at 3:00 pm Eastern time and was able to get the 3 paid excursions we want, as well as our preferred times for the 5 included excursions. Yay!

I’ll try to book the Viking Cape Sounion tour when booking opens on the 22nd. First Viking cruise, first time booking excursions with them. Hopefully it will go well.
if I don’t get the Viking one, maybe I’ll try Viator or George’s taxi.
thanks for your help! -

We hired a private guide in Athens, and she took us up to Cape Sounion. It was about 4 in the afternoon, on a chilly blustery day, so there were only 2 other people up there.
Having said that, we really liked it; it's a commanding view, a beautiful ruin, and we were glad we saw it. Stopped at a great little Greek restaurant on the way back to town and had a wonderful meal.
Were you there for sunset? Supposed to be beautiful.
From all the discussions and some research, I’m thinking I’d prefer Cape Sounion to Corinth. Maybe we’ll take the Viking excursion. -
What about the Cape Sounion? Anyone done that?

I have read that those spinners are not good for your swimsuit.

Thanks so much for your postings and photos. I just looked through your Almost Live Viking Sky postings. Great, and so helpful

We did the Dubrovnik walls a few years ago. Amazing. We may just do the included town tour this time. Also did Athens acropolis and Parthenon. Thinking of Corinth canal, or maybe Delphi ( a 9.5 hour excursion!).

Thanks for the information on the Delphi excursion . How long was the bus ride? 9.5 hour excursion is a long time!
-
Thanks for your thoughts. We’ll do the falconry tour!

If you are going to Zadar, the Falconry tour was one of our favourites on a 3 week cruise.
I really want to do the Krka excursion and the falconry is part of one of the Krka excursions. Does this take time away from the waterfalls portion?

Would love to do the Delphi excursion on our October 28 Empires of the Med cruise. Is it really as demanding as the description says? We are in our late 70’s but in good shape.
thanks for advice. -
Best excursions in Koper, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu, Santorini, Athens?
Especially looking for advice on Kotor and Corfu.
thanks! -
We are on Mars, leaving FLL on November 13, returning on November 27.
We might see you as we leave and you board! Our roll call is also very quiet.
Only 2 of us on it. -
I just did a chat with Viking agent and she answered my question. No deviation fee if you book an extension.

If I purchase a Viking pre extension, will I need to pay a deviation fee for the flight?
-
Just spoke to my TA. She checked with Viking and they said I would have to rebook for a different sailing.
Oh well! ☹️ -
Thanks for that information.

It was $1000 total, $500 for each of us (2 people).
How long is your cruise? What stateroom class do you have? We’re DV1.
-
P.S. I did do a ‘fake’ booking, but did t see the OBC amount. Where did you get that information? Thanks again.
-
Well that would be great! I’m pretty sure TA won’t charge fee.
thanks! -

Here is what my Viking person sent me regarding this promotion. The devil is in the details, to be sure and not quite like stated above. They list specific itineraries that the offer LCT23 applies to. Two points to consider. It does NOT apply to all itineraries, only those listed. It does apply to all dates that currently appear on Web Site for those specific listed itineraries up into 2025 and to new bookings only.
From Viking:
Here is the specific list of cruises (49) under the LCT23 promotion. The longer cruises get the $1000 per stateroom shipboard credit and the shorter cruises get $500 per cabin shipboard credit.

Thank you for the post. I’m currently booked (and paid for) the 15 day Panama and Central America cruise in November 2023. It seems like a good deal to cancel ($100 pp penalty) and get onboard credit. Not sure if it’s $500 or $1000. Does that make sense? Waiting to hear back from my TA tomorrow.
