  1. We have a $200 OBC and was looking at purchasing carnival cash also to use for whatever we choose.   Looking online it looks like the maximum carnival cash that can be applied per room is $500.  Does this mean we could buy a maximum of $300 or is the OBC classified differently than the cruise cash?  Thanks for any help.

That's interesting, I just got off the Greenland cruise on Legend and the internet was consistently very good.  I measured download speeds ranging from around 15 Mbps up to 75 Mbps, and never had any issues (as compared to 0 to 3 Mbps pre-Starlink).  I was really expecting problems when we got far to the north but that never happened.

My only gripe is that normal streaming services (Direct TV etc.) were blocked, there were a couple of sporting events I'd hoped to watch but wasn't able to.

    Which category did you purchase?

The social package is fine for WhatsApp. In some cases you are able to iMessage without buying a plan at all, but your mileage may vary.

Carnival's website does a good job explaining what each package is good for - did you read it?

Reliable satellite internet is an oxymoron.

Yes I read the descriptions but was looking for people who have actually used it and not people you have read it.

  4. I will be looking at getting an internet package to make sure we still have contact with our son at home.   Supposedly the Magic was upgraded to starlink so was wondering if anyone as been on board recently and what they thought of the internet?  Not sure which one of the 3 packages I will be going with but would need somewhat reliable either imessage or whats app service.

    Welcome to the boards! 😎

What time do you arrive into FLL?  The later in the day the fewer shuttle options you will have.  SAS is the popular option for about $15 per person.  Two van taxis at about $75+ per cab will also do it.  We love Larry's Limos.

    Would be looking around 3pm.

I think the one important thing to note is that the drinkers should be officially booked into the same cabin.  So if two couples are sailing together, the 2 drinking guys (for example) need to be officially in cabin #1 while their wives are booked into cabin #2.  Carnival doesn't care where you sleep and will provide 'room only cards'.  But I don't think they can move a person's folio (not 100% sure).  So just be sensitive to exactly how you book.  Enjoy.

I had a similar question.  So getting room only keys is easy and not denied?

Are you meaning in order to link your cruise bookings with others you are traveling with for the purpose of being seated together for dinner? I've never done it through Cruise Manager on the Carnival site. But you can have your bookings linked by calling Carnival or your travel agent. Then, if desired, you'll be seating together if you have assigned dining. And it will link you together through the hub app so you can request reservations for brunch or anytime dining and be seated with people in your group. You can also easily chat and text with people in your group through the Hub app.

I’ve just used the email request in the app to add people.  Has worked in the past but isn’t now.  Will continue to try.

  8. Has anyone had issues with sending invites for cruise companions.  We did it on our cruise two weeks ago and it worked well for dinners but we’ve tried the invites for our Nov cruise but they aren’t going to the recipients email.

  9. Quick question about the cabanas.  I know they have an occupancy of 4 and you can buy an additional two spots for a total of 6.  What is to stop you from renting a cabana and just have two people meet you at whichever unit you have instead of paying for the spots?  Not looking to get around it but you could technically buy 6 spots and have more people join couldn't you.  Haven't ever used them before.

Will be cruising on the Horizon March 4th.  My sister and I like to find quiet areas with tables and shade to play games.  Any good areas on the Horizon?

We just got off the horizon and loved deck 5 outside of pixels/coffee bar.  You have chairs along the water or in the shade.   Comfortable with table and umbrella.

In my experience, as long as you don't do the "don'ts" you're fine.

Cruise Casual - Not permitted: cut-off jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, tee-shirts, gym or basketball shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire.

Cruise Elegant - Not permitted: jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, shorts, tee-shirts, sportswear, shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire.

Having said that, I have noticed the the HUB app does not say no jeans on cruise elegant night and we have worn them.  I have seen others dressed in "dressy" shorts on elegant night.

Yes elegant night i would wear dressier stuff it was more so the other nights.

  12. I know what the website says but what do people actually wear and what is acceptable?   Are nice shorts and collared shirts acceptable or only pants.   And shoes for men can they be sandals (not flip flops) or only shoes?  Just trying to understand what is actually worn and acceptable.

  13. We have two cruises this year and decided to purchase the cheers package for our first one primarily because we want to enjoy the trip and not be worrying about how many drinks we’ve had or what the bill is at the end of the trip. We aren’t big drinkers but do drink pop, water specialty coffees etc. so we figured we would try it out. Question is can we still get a itemized bill that shows what we drank in order to see if it was worth it before our second cruise.

This is a fair question for an inexperienced cruiser.  Don't forget that you will likely be seated with others who will be forced to wait for you to show up before their dinner starts.  Also, service in the dining room is well-orchestrated and persons showing up late can disrupt the machine, and everyone else's dinner.  I do believe that there is a posted 15 minute allowance for being late and then they ask that you dine on the Lido.  If this is unacceptable, you should try to get your dining time changed to YTD.

    Thank you for the help

Please don't treat early time as your time. Your cruise info says when you need to show up.

You should have signed up for anytime or just eat buffet that night.

Which is why I was asking the question as I wouldn’t want to hold people up.  Figured it was a legitimate question with how the seating happens.
