  2. I know that you said that you have taken what you think is a satisfactory resolution by moving.

But I am going to echo what one other person said.

It seems (and this could be an incorrect assumption) that the OTHER passenger is NOT traveling with someone in the next cabin over.

In other words, call them cabins A, B & C.

    You booked A&B.

    They booked B.

    They do NOT have C.

RC needs - yes NEEDS - to move THEM, not YOU.

Just makes NO SENSE to me at all.

Your travel agent is NOT earning his/her commission if s/he has not raised this issue!

He did raise the issue, and then said after that failed that as D+ shouldn't we have had priority.. Of course the other people might be higher!

  3. Sorry to hear you lost your cabin.

There was another thread about the same thing this year. From what I remembered what happend was that the travel agent had released the wrong cabin and realized their mistake and rebooked a different cabin. At first the TA blamed Royal. Then later the TA confused to what had happened.

    Maybe someone else remembers.

Noreen at RC Miami told me it was because the two cabins were booked in the exact same minute. She checked the booking log. I assume the other booking was just before ours but I cannot see how we were able to get an invoice with that room on it without the computer at RC querying it.

  4. I'm going to make some assumptions here, I could be wrong. I'll assume that the two rooms were linked together (that is the reservations were cross referenced). If that is the case one wonders why RC would split up a party and create two different guests angry because they are no longer adjoining and why they gave the room to the single other party?

For me, personally, I'd not settle for less than $250 OBC or both parties being upgraded to adjoining D category cabins. $100 OBC isn't enough for four people to even go for one specialty dinner. Hardly makes up for their screw up.

Yes, the reservations were linked together.

  5. As previously stated, I wouldn't let this ruin my cruise, but I would try to get some resolution of what is obviously RCCL's error (since you HAVE a confirmation which shows the cabin # and deposited).

I have just looked and there are 2 cat. D1 cabins available on Deck 9 (9626 and 9638), they are only 6 cabins apart and neither is a connecting cabin. The current price of them is only $61 USD higher than the E2 being offered in a guarantee. I would have your TA contact RCCL and ask them to move you to the two D1 cabins that are available. I realize this is not your TA's fault, but that is his job, to advocate for you. He can (and should) ride the food train to the top to get a resolution that you are happy with. Good luck :)

Thanks. I have asked my TA to do just that . Will let you know what happens.

  6. I don't think anything else can be done, and they are offering 100 obc for the mishap which I think is nice. They also offered to change you to other rooms in the same category but you don't like the location correct?

You are only 9 rooms away which really isn't far, and rooms really aren't that big to hang out in them in my opinion. We just nap, sleep, and shower in our rooms and then off for some fun the rest of the time.

I wouldn't get too upset about it, enjoy your time together!

Thank you. Not upset at all just annoyed , a little

  7. We are booked on Serenade's October 19th cruise from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale. The first week of booking we booked two E2 cabins next to each other midship on deck 8. I live in the UK and my brother and family live in the U.S. So we like to be close by or next to each other as we don't see each other often enough.

Last week as I started to complete the online checkin, I noticed that our cabin was different, a connecting cabin nine cabins away from the one we booked.

My travel agent had spent a lot of time the last week trying to get to the bottom of it. I emailed Mr. Bayley at RC and I had a phone call from Miami on Tuesday from a lady in head office.

It seems that another party booked " our" cabin at the exact same time as we did and we were bumped. Yet no one thought to tell us! If we had known at the time then we could have booked two other cabins next to each other.

On Tuesday they tried to offer us two cabins together but the only ones available were right at the front of the ship. So we decided to stay where we are although I have said as we are unlikely to get two cabins together, then I would just like to be moved from the connecting cabin. But at the moment the only E cabins free are those right at the front of the ship or connecting cabins. There are four D1 cabins available too but no offer of an upgrade! They have given us $ 100 OBC as a recompense.

My two concerns are that we were moved without being informed and we are in a connecting cabin which is not what we booked.

Just want to know if anyone thinks we can do any more or does anyone has any advice?

  8. "It was fine with us and included a sandy beach , which I think is not common in France"

I think you have been misinformed. There are hundreds of wonderful sandy beaches in France all around the Normandy , Brittany and Atlantic Coast. And of course the Med. Think of the Normandy beaches. Omaha in particular. And gorgeous sandy beaches all around the Breton coast. Just do a search for sandy beaches in France and you will see what I mean.

  9. It's so strange and nice to see Mont St Michel without its car parks at its base. I have been there many times, always thankfully out of high season, the last time in March 2009 when I was living in Brittany and I was there with my dogs and my American family who were visiting me.

My iPad is not allowing me to post a photo here so I've emailed it to you.

  10. We went to the à la carte brunch. Not surprised they didn't repeat it as service was a little disastrous to say the least as far more people turned up than they expected according to one of the head waiters. They had to reroute wait staff from the Oceanview and from rest periods to help serve.

I don't remember what I ate but a lady at our table had the tiniest piece of quiche and nothing else on the plate. We didn't stay for dessert as we would have probably been there all afternoon.

  11. I'm sorry if I seemed harsh , I guess that I should clarify my statement to say improper water temperatures . I remember as a young man going surfing in near freezing conditions . But the water was 35 degrees warmer than the air ! We usually vacation in the late spring or fall to cooler climates in an effort to shorten the long summer and to avoid the hurricane season . Our summer pattern in Florida was a little early this year , so you got a little of it . So we were glad to get to Bermuda - the beginning of the cooler European weather . We just don't care for cold water ;)

No need to say sorry! :D

Swimming in the sea here as a child was always cold water. It was always " take a deep breath and go for it." Don't swim in the sea here anymore. I've experienced warm seas now!

  12. Great photos of Bermuda.

I much preferred the improper temperature of Bermuda to the heat of Miami the one day we were there! ;)

I remember saying as I walked out of the hotel, how can anyone live in these temperatures ?

We get the warming gulf stream too, in Wales! It just stops us freezing up in Winter as we are on the same latitude as Labrador in Canada but we rarely get snow and only a few days below freezing. So thanks for sending the gulf stream to us. :D

  13. I was finally able to add my reservation on the Eclipse transatlantic for April 2015 to my My Celebrity page---even though the itinerary is still not up on the Celebrity website, go figure.

The stop in the Azores is included in the itinerary that appeared along with the booking info on my page.

Thanks for the heads up. Mine too is there.

Join us over on the roll call. not many there yet!

  14. Well I will soon find out about the Eclipse transatlantic as I have decided to change from the Silhouette as the eight sea days in a row was a bit too much and I want to go back to Bermuda and the Azores. I have asked my ta to call today and change, he will be pleased!

  15. I am on reflection now.

EC transatlantic is April 21st(16 night) and SI is April 19th(14 nights)

The Celebrity person my travel agent was talking to last night, is either in cloud cuckooland or the change has not filtered through yet! But again something is up as it has not appeared on the website yet, but people have booked it.

  16. Don't know, I have confirmed reservation for April 21 and I know the next cruise is already listed as leaving Southampton on May 7, which would make April 21, the correct depart for the TA on a 16 night cruise. Hope so anyway!!!

I know, it's really strange but that's what he was told an hour ago! He sent me a message about it when he was talking to Celebrity, to check with me the date I had given him as they didn't match. But as you know calling the cruise line does not always get you the correct answer!

But it might explain why it has not appeared yet on the website.

  17. We, too, are booked on that cruise, but can't add it to our My Celebrity page because---or so I suspect---it's not yet listed on the website.

It's not like it's leaving next month, but I do like to tie up loose ends :)

There seems to be something happening with this transatlantic. My TA was enquiring for me today about this and Silhouette transatlantics and the date he was given for Eclipse was 27th April, not the 21st. As this date didn't suit me I booked the silhouette for the 19th.
