The most recommended airport area hotels are those located in Elizabeth NJ near International Drive...Country inn, Courtyard, Embassy Suites & Residence Inn are a few. These hotels are within walking distance of the Jersey Gardens mall which has dining options. IHOP & Ruby Tuesday have locations close to these hotels. Many hotels in Newark near the airport have no or limited dining choices along with inaccessible locations except for autos.

There is a Double Tree connected to Newark Penn Station, which is in downtown Newark away from the airport. The Ironbound section of Newark, known for its restaurant, is close to Penn Station, not any of the airport area hotels.

Uber/taxi is your best option to the port. Check if the Elizabeth hotels offer shuttle service to Cape Liberty.

The cruise port & EWR are about 10 miles apart, connected by the New Jersey Turnpike. Expect traffic on weekday mornings, little traffic weekends. If you do walk off and have Uber waiting, flights after 10 am on weekdays is safe. if the choice is between a 10 am flight and late afternoon, 10 am is good if you walk off and traffic is minimal. There should be less traffic weekdays after 9/9:30 am. If you disembark late, a noon flight is good.

There is a separate area for disembarking passengers using car service rather than taxi. Taxi lot is by itself, across from zone 10. The pickup zones are marked by overhead numbers. Exit the terminal, go left, then right to the numbered zones.

If you use taxi, ignore the signs in the terminal directing to the left. Follow the signs for the parking garage, which is to the right. Once outside, go left, avoid any lines for the ticket vending machines and lines for the elevator in the parking garage.

Zone 10, for taxi service only, is near the glass door entrance (by the elevators) of the parking garage. You will see the crosswalk painted on the road, go across 2 sets of crosswalks to the empty lot.

I would advise against using taxi as it was disorganized in December 2021. Some had waited more than 30 minutes, others like myself just a few. Prior to covid, the taxi service at Cape Liberty was better organized. If you are constrained by time, go with Uber.

Thanks so much for taking the time for such an in-depth response. This is exactly what we needed to know; our vacation will benefit as a result of your effort!

    Happy Cruising,

You also may get some good recommendations by going to your Roll Call.

Many on our roll all are recommending - Newark Airport

    Homes2Suites

    Hampton Inn

    Embassy Suites

    County Inn

Uber works well and runs about $30-60 depending on surge pricing.   I usually compare the prices with Lyft as they can be quite different.

    Thank you

  3. Hi All,

DW and I are flying into Newark airport the day before our Bermuda cruise. This is our first time using Cape Liberty. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation, preferably with an airport shuttle and some sort of breakfast available? Hotel does not have to be high end, just a comfortable bed and climet control that works. Is Uber a decent way to get to the port? Also looking for advise on "no earlier than" flight times for walk off and regular debarkation (will also Uber to Newark airport, unless advised otherwise)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

  4. Tuscan has an amazing wake view if you get a window table and enjoy dining early (your view disappears shortly after sunset). They also have the best bread on the ship. Murano has better food/service. We can get good Italian locally; the nearest French is about a three hour drive for us. I would not order the Chateaubriand if you go to Murano. We were on the Reflection mid December, and made it a point to go to Murano's. They now serve Chateaubriand with a bearnaise sauce, instead of red wine/white wine sauces. Taste is of course subjective, but IMO this has changed the dish from being one of the top 5 meals I have ever eaten in my 57 years of existence, to something that is good, but not spectacular. Okay, enough ranting... I think you will be happy with either.

  5. I hope they make it, DW and I love our Celebrity cruises. My biggest concern is RCL is a Liberian company sailing foreign flagged vessels staffed by non-USA citizens, so not sure if the government will be in a hurry to rescue them. I don't know how bankruptcy would work, would creditors really want to repo a bunch of cruise ships? As Denny01 stated, don't listen to me. I think taking FCC helps the company. We are scheduled to sail in late May, getting back to port just in time to catch the Cubs/Cardinals games in London. Everything was suposed to be great.  Doubt we will be able to get a flight, much less be able to board the Silhouette. We are not into it for suite money, but still expensive for us. Would much rather be offered 14 days in a deck 6 veranda with all 4 perks (what we paid for), rather than a $FCC. Anyway, what I do know is that there are a substantial number of people in the world right now who would love to have this as a problem. Hope everything works out!

I will be on the February 1, 2020 sailing of Summit. I have confirmed that Qsine has been updated to Le Petit Chef. I have dinner reservations on the third night of our cruise for 6:30. I made them when the restaurant was still Qsine. Celebrity customer service has confirmed that it will indeed be Le Petit Chef. They indicated my 6:30 reservations do NOT need to be changed, but she sounded a bit confused. I thought I'd heard that the Table Animation was only done at select times - maybe twice per night? Could someone confirm for me that my 6:30 reservation is okay? I don't want to show up to find that the show is half over!!! Thanks!

  7. My wife and I are currently on the Summit and we both have the D&M package.  You will need to go to the casino desk with your sea pass and photo ID to receive the credit. Fridge is stocked daily. We received one bottle of red, and one white. We haven't tried to drink them in the MDR, as your wine by the glass is included. TIP: we have had good luck having the sommelier bring wine based on our dinner selection; maybe getting stuff that is not on the "by the glass" list? Will try to post labels of the bottles received later.
