DH and I still drink after 5 on the last day so no biggie. We will use the coupon happily.
-
Well, its official. We got our letter from Carnival letting us know that we are no longer welcome at the Party. But to make up for it, we get a free drink. I am ok with that. DH and I didn't go to the party on our last cruise but I did notice that we did not get the free drink coupon that we had received the past few cruises. So the letter is saying that we get a free drink instead. I think that we are just getting our drink back. But that's ok with me. I like being able to choose when and where to have my drink. And the food is free anywhere on the ship anyway. No big loss as the parties were too crowded anyway. I agree that it is nice to cheer all of the ships that we have been on during the party but either way, its all good. It certainly won't ruin my cruise.

5 days until we leave on the Paradise. I can't wait!! I guess I better start packing.
-
We bring a small rolling carryon with sodas, water and wine. Also a backpack with all paperwork, Kindle, passports, all of our cash, all medicines, camera, binoculars and the newspaper.
I would love to know how to get 2 cases of beer on board. It would certainly make life easier.

Four of us will be on the Grand Princess on 9/7 as well. It sounds like a really wonderful trip. This will be our first time going to Alaska and I can't wait. The excursion that you went on sounds fabulous. Will have to convince the DH to spend that much on an excursion but it sounds like it would be worth it. I wonder what the weather will be like in September. We have no idea what to pack. Sorry for the rambling, I am so happy to read about our cruise, and now I am getting excited. Would love to go on an excursion to see whales. Thanks again for the review!!

Sitting here at the house waiting for our daughter to pick us up and drive us to the Port of Tampa. We should be checked in and sitting on the deck of the Legend before noon. It has been a long time coming. 6 of us are celebrating our retirement. I am looking forward to a week of relaxation. Haven't even scheduled any excursions. Will take it as it comes. Will report back on our cruise next week.

How was the depth of the water? Was there any difficulty with shallow water? Or did you get to float the entire way down?
-
Congrats. We are looking forward to our cruise in a week too. Leaving on the 11th on the Legend out of Tampa. 3 couples all going on a retirement cruise. We can't wait. I have started packing but am sure I will forget something. Enjoy your cruise.

Right there with you. Leaving on the Legend on Sunday, as well. Don't you just love the single digit dance?! Ours is a retirement cruise. I hope that everyone enjoys their cruise and this exciting week leading up to it.

Thank you so much. We will try those sites. I have heard so many good things about Seattle but living in Florida, it is about as far away as we can get and be in the US. :)

Thank you so much for your answer. We all booked with the same PVP, one right after the other. Was hoping that she would put in a request that we all sit together but wasn't sure if they assign tables the first night or if they are already assigned before the cruise leaves Tampa. We are hoping that they gave us a table for 6.

We are cruising out of Seattle on Sept 7th. Since we have never been there, 4 of us decided to stay the week before. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a rental w/2 bedrooms 2 baths for that week? Should we stay downtown for a couple of days and then somewhere else? Thanks for any suggestions.

Does anyone know how we can be assured that we get a table for 6 for the early seating on the Legend? Do you have to be there for dinner the first night? We have the early seating at 6:30 which is the same time that the Legend goes under the Sunshine Skyway bridge. DH and I have seen it before but his sister and her DH have not. It is something that should be seen at least once IMHO. Thanks for any help.

Good point Boozebabe. We should probably say that the cove balconies are aweful and wet & gloomy all the time. Don't mention that it feels like the flying fish are going to land on the balcony, you are so close to the water. I wish we could fish from it. We LOVED our cove balcony on the Dream. Would book it again in a heartbeat. All the privacy that you could want. Of course being from Florida, we didn't really want to be in the sun so we liked the shady balcony. Enjoy the cruise no matter what balcony you are on. It is a cruise after all. ;)

That first DOD when you get on board. It means that you are really on your cruise. ;)

I am so excited We just booked our Retirement cruise. Last day of work is 4/30. We decided to celebrate the best way we know and that is by taking a cruise. And DH suprised me by getting a balcony. We usually stick with the oceanview. Going with his sisters who are also retiring and their DHs. The Legend will never be the same! :D

Thank you for your answers. I am so excited about our upcoming cruise. This will be our first time on Princess and it sounds like we will be having a wonderful trip. I hope to see a lot of Alaska from our awesome balcony.:)

The upgrade fairy has sent us to cabin C504 on the Grand Princess. Has anyone ever had that cabin? This is our first time on Princess as we have always cruised on Carnival. Any helpful hints? Thanks. I can't wait!!

DH and I were on the Paradise on the 5th. We were in Cozumel and had plenty of time for an excursion and shopping before the 9 pm Rascal Flats concert. The tickets were $60 each and worth the money. They only included the concert itself. The concert was in the main theater and seemed very personal. They did not over book the room. They also had "meet and great" tickets for $250 each but we didn't feel that it was necessary. The ship was actually in port until midnight. It was a lot of fun. I believe you can see a Live concert on You Tube.
