  1. We were on Carnival Paradise that landed yesterday after stopping in Key West and Havana.  Although we didn't leave the ship while in Key West we did tour Havana and had the most wonderful time.  We arranged a tour via Blexie-Havana Tours for 6 hours.  Wasn't sure that wasn't going to be too long in a car, but I was so mistaken.  We met up with Jorge in his wonderfully air conditioned antique car.  We spent the entire time asking Jorge about the country, the government and the people.  No questions were off limits.  We saw Havana through his eyes and it was worth every minute.  Language was not an issue as Jorge spoke perfect English and was patient and proud of Cuba.  He was truly an ambassador who made these Americans remember our time there and strongly encourage anyone who is going to Cuba to arrange a tour with Blexie-Havana Tours.  You won't be disappointed.  Thanks Jorge.  You did a great job.

  2. i was looking at a recent Sun Daily when I noticed a blurb about unplugging all electronics whenever you leave the stateroom, and that the stewards have been instructed to unplug any they find.

Anyone have actual experience with this? There are times I leave my camera plugged in to recharge while doing something else around the ship.

I see the reasoning, but wondering just how much I’m going to have to plan ahead.

We were on the Jade in Dec 2017. I had phone plugged in, e-cigarettes plugged in and the camera plugged in. NONE were unplugged during our 10 day cruise to Panama. Have another NCL Pearl scheduled for Nov and plan on the same course of action.

  3. Family vacation in Havana in March. Looking to take in a night club. It will just be the women on this one. I got excited about going to the historic Tropicana, but saw the price of $165/per person. I'm less excited now. Has anyone done Havana and can recommend a night club that won't cost an arm and a leg? We are not serious drinkers, just wanted the experience.:confused:

  4. I used Blexi, 6 hours tour for up to 3 people in old car, will take you where ever you want in cuba, $130

I was solo, saw much of the real cuba, we got away from the parts where the tourist were. The guide spoke excellent English,

It was worth it :) Not sure if link is allowed here, ... google havanatours blexie you will find him.

Heard great things about Blexie. That's our plan for Cuba cruise in March.

  5. We are planning a family vacation on Carnival Paradise to Cuba in March 2019. After explaining the process of changing USD into Cuban dollars, she asked "What about credit cards?" Not sure, but I bet someone does know whether credit cards can be used in Cuba. Then she asked about phones? Not sure on that on either. Any advice would be appreciated.:confused::confused:

  6. Was your niece's itinerary change a private island in the Bahamas, or a stop in the Bahamas?

She was supposed to go to Haiti, Cozumel and Jamaica and as of now they are going to Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten and is leaving tomorrow,

  7. On Caribbean Princess leaving on July 14 for W Caribbean. My niece is on NCL Oasis of the Seas on similar in W Caribbean. They just got notice the itinerary has changed due to storms. Anyone besides me concerned about this? I have insurance, but don't know if I'm being hysterical. Can I cancel? Should I?

  8. We leave next month on Caribbean Princess and we're in a club class mini suite. First time on Princess - usually NCL and Carnival. This time just me and DH. Is it possible to have breakfast ordered for the balcony without me going up to buffet and bringing it to the room ourselves? If so, how do I do it? Is it everything I imagine it to be or should I just go to breakfast as usual? Really looking forward to this and this was just something that;s been on my mind. Thanks for the advice, as usual.:confused:

  9. I was wondering how long it takes most people to stop feeling like they are on a cruise. I am woobly/swaying/rocking, feel dizzy and nauseous, my head feels heavy and my ears feel full. I am looking for other people's experiences and how long this may last. I am afraid it is MdMS.

My DH experienced this and it stayed with him long enough to see an MD. MD advised this can happen to older folks (He was 53 at that time) and it's a result of doing damage to the inner ear. According to the MD it could last a few weeks or longer. Not sure of your age, but it might be something to consider. It lasted for him about 3 wks.:o

  10. Bad news always travels fast - but it's not always accurate. I was on the Jade in December and it was the first time for my DH and he can be critical. He was delighted with food service. You have choices - explore them. Come back and review your original post and see who was right and let us know.

  11. I am familiar with Miami and Tampa ports. First time out of Ft Launderdale. From the threads I've read, it looks like people are reserving parking spots? What's that about? Can anyone tell me their experience of driving to the port and where I park the car and how far is that car going to be from the terminal. DH has mobility issues and I don't want to lose him before we even get on board.:confused:
