If you don't want to take the train, cost of a taxi Freo - Perth ranges from $45 - 60. A daytime trip would be towards the lower end.
The airport website has a comprehensive guide to transport options. There have been a lot of changes recently and this is probably the most up-to-date info.
https://www.perthairport.com.au/to-and-from-the-airport
Uber is also available and a popular choice.

Thanks for that - I would never have thought of taking shampoo and conditioner to a hotel or a cruise ship. The reviews I have been reading are pretty poor - it's good to hear that you had a great time. I'm taking two grandchildren so do hope the queues are not going to be too horrendous for everything.
I always pack small bottles of shampoo/conditioner/hand cream just in case.
All the kids on the cruise - and there were many - seemed to be having a great time. With bumper cars, climbing wall, skating, basketball, 24-hour xBox plus the pools, they should be fine.

thanks for the review!
sux it took over 3 hrs to get to ur cabin
Not the best start, that's for sure. But the rest of the cruise was pretty darn good, despite the booking hassles.

Many thanks for the review. I can't wait to board.
Cheers
Rosie
Enjoy! I'd go right back if I could:)

Our party are dressing up for the formal evenings, us guys are bringing our tuxedos and the girls will glam it up as well.:D
Although as you said, it is not strictly adhered to on Royal.
Sounds great. I really like the formal nights. Great idea about the "surf & turf" :) There was a charge for lobster in the MDR though, not sure if it turned up on the menu otherwise.
Another thing I appreciated was that the photographers are not always in your face like they are on Princess.

Is there really no shampoo or conditioner provided?
We had a superior balcony cabin and there was none! There are a couple of guest size cakes of hand soap and a gel dispenser in the shower. BYO as the shop is very poorly stocked as well.

Hi Pearlsz... sailing 14 nights in Jan- is formalwear required at all? Thanks
It's optional. We had one night which was a "Royal Evening - Dress Your Best". That was also the night of the Captains reception. I didn't see many tuxs but plenty of men wore suits and women cocktail dresses.

Thanks for the review, I look forward to comparing your thoughts and experience when I board in just under two weeks.
Hopefully some of the organising issues have been resolved or streamlined at least. I am also My time and am somewhat apprehensive about how well it will work, I like to eat around 7.30-8pm which is normally a bit quieter as most people prefer to eat earlier or go for late traditional. I was unable to book for the I-fly and North Star but have been assured we can book once on board, hopefully this is true and being a 10 night cruise, we should have a better chance of getting to try them than on your shorter cruise.:D
Occasional iFly spots open up, the thing to do is check the app regularly. North Star shouldn't be a problem, same thing, keep checking. There's also a stand-by line where you can just rock up and wait.
Be aware that in the MDR the menu uses the American term "entrée" to mean main (and "starter" for appetiser). Don't order two entrees LOL
The ship really is amazing, I'll look forward to hearing about your trip. Enjoy!

Mine is up along with others of the inaugural Australian cruise. Happy to answer any questions. I also have copies of the Cruise Compass but I can't seem to format them so they'll be small enough to upload yet readable - suggestions welcome.

As a jpeg I think

Sorry, my files are way too large. I'll try again tomorrow.

Wondering if anyone has photos of a current cruise-compass for Ovation.
Keen to see the daily activities on offer.
I've got some from Fremantle - Adelaide 6-11 December. I can scan them but don't know where to post. Or do I just attach as a jpeg?

Next Tuesday..... Bring it on :D:D:D
Us too! Couldn't resist the "buy one get one free" balcony cabin. Can't wait!

Just heard that spell check changed Easter to Ear:o
It is my worst enema.;)
Thanks mic, I just spit coffee on my keyboard :D:D

Thanks Deb, we'll grab a taxi then. Not long now!

I’ll be here one day on a cruise ship. I’ve been to Bali several times and just want to go to Legian/Seminyak to eat, do some shopping, have a massage etc. The ship “tour” to Kuta (really just a shuttle) is $65 per person!
I was thinking of hiring a driver but that seems like overkill. Are taxis (preferably metered taxis) readily available at the port? Any idea of cost to say Seminyak Square?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Fellow Cruisers,
Just got back from the Jan 8 Sapphire Princess Cruise from Singapore-Brunei-Nha Trang- Saigon (Phu My) - Sihanoukville- Pattaya (Laem Chabang) -Ko Samui. Booked a few private tours in Brunei, Sihanoukville and Lsem Chabang and have already posted reviews on TripAdvisor. I wanted to share these with you in case you might find them useful. I will post them by port separately here. If anyone needs any help or if I can answer any questions, please send me a PM.
Regards,
Alicia
Hi Alicia
I just came across your post. I'll be doing the same cruise in August and this information has been a huge help! Thank you so much for taking the time to post all the info.

We were on that same Pearl cruise. We had a great time.
I came across the Pacific Daily (ship newsletter) from that cruise just a few days ago.
There were usually two comedy shows each evening with the late show being more adult humour. They also had an amateur standup competition. The guy who won was very funny. During he day there were comedy debates and even comedy cocktails.
There was also a production musical show which was very good but the comedy was definitely the main focus.

A small sewing kit with needles & thread, scissors, a few spare buttons plus safety pins has come in very handy on several occasions.

- when are you cruising next? 17 Oct 2015
- which ship? Sea Princess
- where to? and why there? Singapore - Perth. Husband wanted to go Singapore, I wanted to cruise - both happy. Great to be able to cruise home!
- anything you want to find out about your cruise? already read reviews & joined roll call:)

Former San Fransican here. This thread is making me homesick! If you're there on a Sunday go to a service at Glide Memorial Church. Everyone welcome, fabulous music, and a message for everyone not just the "religious". See reviews on Tripadvisor for more info.
Glide's in the Tenderloin so be aware of your surroundings but I always felt it was safe enough on Sunday morning.
Signing off now to listen to the Glide podcast and plan my next visit.:)

Hi guys, I'm a new member and new to cruising. Came into this thread because we were on this cruise :) first one ever and had a blast! I'm really keen to do more cruising and take the kids next time instead of being on a boozy bender with 10 friends :)
I'm a bit lost on here so far, but hopefully will work it out! I look forward to learning more and getting to know you all!
We had a great time too, enjoyed this one much more than our first cruise, rough weather & all. Also good to catch up with mic & friends - which is another benefit of posting here - arranging to meet folks on the ship.:)
-
Thanks we plan to have a great cruise.:D
Us too, not long now!

I will wear the red hawaiin shirt that is in my profile. I may even wear a badge/nametag from Cruise critic, if I can find it. I will be the smart looking guy with a beautiful wife.:p
OK, me, white blouse, brown/black cardi...Husband has just told me he'll wear his cowboy shirt  which is a pale blue/pink plaid (plus blue deck shoes).
Can't believe it's almost time - yay!

We could do a sailaway after muster depending on when they have it. So
the alternatives are:
- we could meet on Level 12 either at the rear of the ship at the bar by the Plantation restuarant or
- by the splash bar. or
- we could meet in the Dome on level 14.
The Dome sounds good. It looks like it's a lounge during the day and a bar/club at night (?). Will there be a sign or do we need to know a secret handshake, or in this case maybe the punchline to a joke? :)

CARNIVAL SPIRIT, Tableclothes in MDR ?
in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Posted
We're just off the Spirit Tuesday and I can confirm they use tablecloths in the MDR...but if a formal, sophisticated atmosphere is what your friends want this
may not be the ship for them. :D:D
