  1. Thanks so then in your opinion what time would you choose on the first night and this is for the Vista!

On the Freedom in February - we were told we could wear shorts with collared shirts on non-elegant night. That is exactly what we did. We were treated great and loved the meal. The spice rubbed ribeye is worth every penny.

  2. The steaks offered in the MDR are limited. They do not include the 18 oz spice rubbed ribeye. That steak is amazing. I have tried the NY strip in the MDR from the steakhouse menu. While the NY strip was far better than the flat iron steak you get for free in the MDR, it is no where close to the ribeye. Go to the steakhouse, plus the horseradish mashed potatoes are delicious.

  3. You can call Carnival and have them refund your credit card for the upcoming cruise and have them apply the gift cards in place of the cc payment. I have done this and had no issue changing the form of payment prior to my cruise. If you have already sailed on the rebooked cruise, it may be too late.

  4. You have price protection on Past Guest rates as well up until final payment date. You have this because you can always cancel your cruise up until this point. Carnival has and will honor price drops on this fare until final payment date. After final payment date you would need to be booked ES to have fare protection. However, they then start promoting SuperSaver which doesn't allow you to choose your room and makes your price protection via ES worthless. I prefer to book Past Guest rates over ES now and pay the slight premium. That being said we are booked ES on our upcoming cruise because we were offered $200 OBC as a part of an ES promotion. These types of promotions will be the only time I book ES going forward.

  5. The last two times I cruised, on the Breeze and Magic, they no longer served strawberry bisque. This was always one of the things I looked forward to on the cruise. We are sailing on the Freedom in a few weeks. Does any know if the Freedom is serving strawberry bisque?

  6. I am sorry to hear about the trouble you had. Another option you have if you are not going to be there to sign for your package is to sign up for myUPS. On myUPS you can waive the signature requirement on your package and have them leave the package at the door. I have done this several times without issue.

  7. We are doing a S2S (Side 2 Side) in October. We are sailing one week on the Glory and when it arrives back in Miami we jump off and then jump on to the Splendor. So we definitely pack everything up.

Does Carnival guarantee to wait for you on the second leg? On our last cruise we were very late into port because we had to turn around and go back to Cozumel for a medical issue.

  8. Mr and Mrs H, you have a great attitude about the $100. May i present a possible reason for the admin fees? Your signature line shows a cancelled cruise for 10/16. Did you cancel a cruise and then move the booking to this new one? I would think the admin fees were already there. I may be out of line but I find that most of the time these things are systematic and end up there for a reason.

  9. Enjoying your planning! I just wanted to add my two cents regarding Belize and your planned excursion. We have done Shark Ray Alley through Coral Breeze twice. It is amazing. You will tender from the ship to the pier and they will provide you with instructions as to where to meet. After meeting up, you will walk over to another pier and get in your boat to head out towards Caye Caulker. It is about a 45 min boat ride out and another 45 mins back. We did see dolphins and stopped to watch them on the way back on our first time time out. No such luck the second time. On the way out or as you load the boat, they will fit all for snorkeling gear. You will arrive at Caye Caulker and they will offer a bathroom break before you head out to snorkel and then swim with stingrays and nurse sharks. The snorkeling is amazing and takes 30 - 45 mins. You then get back in the boat and go to where the rays and sharks are. The water is only 3 - 4 feet deep here. I would suggest that you and your daughter stay with the boat. Even if you skip the snorkeling, your daughter will love seeing the stingrays and nurse sharks and if she's feeling brave could get in with them. After you will get a full stop at Caye Caulker. I love stewed chicken with rice and beans in Belize. Not a big fan of it at home but somehow in Belize, it tastes so good. I am sure you will have fun regardless of what you choose.

  10. We have not had this amount of OBC in the past, so I can only guess based upon what I have read on CC regarding the order in which it is used. Both DH And I are platinum, and are not big drinkers, so between the 2 dinners for two with wine at leBistro, the wine delivered to our suite and the free laundry, I'm not sure how much onboard spending we will have above and beyond the DSC. I'm hoping to use it to buy a nice watch on-board.

We don't sail until October, so hopefully you will find out first hand on the Getaway. Please let us know when you return.

I would consider buying future cruise vouchers. They sell them $250.00. You then have a $250.00 credit that can be used towards a future cruise in the next 4 years and they give you an additional $100.00 in OBC. So it costs you $150.00 for a $250.00 voucher. I believe you can buy up to 4 of these and they are transferable.
