  1.  We are driving down to Seattle to sail on a one way cruise to Australia next year on Carnival Luminosa, from pier 91 ( I believe). We plan on renting a car here in Vancouver BC where we live , and dropping it off at the closest rental return to the port. Does anyone know if the car rental companies will shuttle us to the pier after the drop. We think this will be the easiest way.
If we drop at SeaTac, do you think they would shuttle us to the pier? Thanks for any help you may give

  2. I was wondering, are we still offered a glass of sparkling wine as we get on the ship? We sailed  a few years ago on Celebrity and we got it, but it was 2018 out of San Juan, we will be sailing to Alaska out of Vancouver...just wondering.....

  3. I am also in Canada, I have a cruise booked for Jan/22. I am willing to take the chance on the loss of deposit. I believe and hope the border will be open, and no quarintine coming home. Take a chance, it will be worth it. You never know, if the border is still closed there will be so many Canadians in the same boat  ( haha) , Im sure Carnival will (maybe) let us put it toward a future cruise...fingers crossed

Wow we just checked the Carnival Web site & our October 15 .2022 Hawaii ,15 night cruise from San Diego is no longer listed as a viable cruise  .So here we go shopping again

Need to phone the TA & let him know to get back our deposit

We are booked on the Miracle to Hawaii Jan/22, in the email we received it says please give them till the end if Feb/21 before we make any changes and then if we dont like the changes we can get a refund. If we stick with it they will give $200 OBC per cabin

What about the ship itself.  Really tired or in reasonable shape?  Especially Sky Suites and AQ.  Thanks

We found the ship was in pretty good shape. There were a few area that showed wear and tear...example was our balcony, if you looked at the paint railings etc it had been patched and painted over many times. We loved the pool area and most of the common areas.

Agree on buffet on summit I thought it was great , way better than rccl and other lines.

great buffet! I am originally from England, and they even had a full English breakfast including Black pudding,,so yummy! My husband hates it as he is Canadian and never had it until he met me. It is hard to find good black pudding in North America. I am sure a lot of people on here hate it also,,haha 🙂

Thank you for the information about the Summit. I'll be on my first Caribbean cruise ever on the Summit from San Juan in January.  I'm glad to hear that the food is good and that getting on and off is easy. I've heard that passengers who take Caribbean cruises from Florida ports tend to be older because the cruise lines offer last-minute great deals to Florida residents, many of whom are retirees. Being retirement age myself, I'm not prejudiced against seniors, but I'm curious if those who board the ship in San Juan might be younger on average. What was the mix of passenger ages and nationalities on your cruise?

We have sailed on many cruises, Carnival NCL and Princess. The last time was sailed from San Juan it was on Carnival, it was a mix of all ages, young families with small kids to seniors. It was a very lively and fun cruise, lots of latin music and on deck entertainment. This one was quite, no real "latin" music, but a more mix of multi generation music. No real on deck entertainment. Hardly any kids, and the average age was well over 50. I am over 50, but I wish it was a little more lively, but I didn't miss the hairy chest contest 😉

Thanks for posting. In St. Thomas did you dock at Haven Sight or Crown Bay?  We like sailing out of San Juan due to the cruises are port intensive. One sea day is plenty for us. We did a B2B Caribbean cruise on the Summit March/April 2014 out of San Juan. Looking forward to our future cruises on the Summit. By then she will have had her facelift.

When I was there the 3 times with Carnival we docked in Havensight, we walked to everything we wanted to do. This also was our 2nd time sailing out of San Juan, but a different pier than last time, this time was Pan American pier.

We will be doing our first cruise on the Summit in April; also out of San Juan and also have a busy port schedule (St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia and Barbados).  Since this is our first cruise, we are really looking forward to seeing the various ports. What your favorite port stop was? What deck / room did you stay in?

Well,,we didn't go there this time but..St Thomas is one of my fave ports, the tram is great,,what a view from the top,,,and magic ice is a lot of fun, you will enjoy it there!!. Our cabin was 7095 midship balcony, the room stewart was fantastic!! We had the classic drink package and never found we had to pay extra for anything we wanted to drink. My husband loves Long island ice tea, we had thought we would have to pay the difference but they were all covered,,same with daiquiris. The ship is beautiful, but is showing age in some places. We had a "credit" on our account of $4.00 that we left for a donation.  One of our excursions that we had booked with Celebrity was cancelled, so we just walked off and did a taxi tour with a local.

How did you enjoy your sailing and how does it compare to the ships/lines you usually sail?

    Welcome back and bon voyage

We enjoyed it. It was a port heavy cruise so it was a bit too much, I like sea days and there was only one, but the price was good so we took advantage.  Most of everything was great, sometimes service in the dining room and the bar in casino was slow, but there was only one female bartender in the casino she seemed overwhelmed at times, in fact one day we noticed a charge of $54.97 on our bill from that bar, we knew it could not be correct as we had a drink package. We went to guest services after a day of review they fixed the error. The buffet was the best ever, by FAR,,,so good and so much choice! Getting on board took 15min, and getting off was a breeze. One extra thing I did not like,,,the pushing of the restaurants..everyday outside the buffet you were asked and they even called our room a few times,,,annoying!

You should be able to board ship once you check out of your hotel. Your room won't be until about 1:00-1:30 but you can have lunch. Once you have your seapass card you can leave and return to the ship. Your luggage will be delivered to your room, but if you have valuables or medications in a carry on you probably should take that with you. Check with ship personnel about how to re-board but you should be able to bypass the check-in crowd. Just be sure to be back on board at least 90 minutes prior to sail away.

    Thanks 🙂

The site has caused problems for many. As I've posted many times regardless of which browser you use the use of Incognito windows really helps. I also find that although archaic, a phone call works better than the website, particularly when doing things that involve a monetary exchange. All that being said, the Celebrity on board experience has always been worth the inconvenience of a buggy website and hasn't disappointed us yet. Have a great trip and don't let the website issues worry you.

I am over the web site issues haha. Cant wait to be on board in just a few days. I know I will LOVE it 😀😀

  13. We are sailing out of San Juan on Oct 27/18. That ship sails in the evening,,my question is,, what is the time you can check in? We have to check out of our hotel at 11am and it would be great if we could just board. Also, if we did get on the ship, after we drop our stuff on board, has anyone ever gotten back off and   spent time in town?  Do they have a different entrance to get back on board? Thanks for your help..

  14. I agree, they need some work on there site. I spent a few hours doing online check in, I also got error messages,  also I would get "locked out" for my security for a few mins. Microsoft edge was a lost cause, went to Google and after MANY times and hours I finally got it completed. Also, I was trying to purchase on board credit as a gift for a fellow passenger, and in the end  I just had to phone them to complete the transaction, very frustrating, but the person on the phone was very helpful. I have done everything when booking NCl and Carnival online, no problems. I have never sailed with Celebrity, I hope they improve their site.

  15. I live in Vancouver and in the summer months it does get crazy down at Canada Place cruise port. I have sailed out of Vancouver twice, once the ship was late coming into port so the whole turn around thing was delayed. a little bit of a long wait but so worth it, you can not beat our views as you sail under the lions gate bridge. The second time we were sailing to Hawaii, we didn't wait any longer than any other cruise sailing from Miami, Long Beach, Galveston, etc The longest we have waited to board is in San Juan, we lined up for hours no chairs in exteme heat and humidity...but believe it or not we are giving them a second chance and we sail in October from there. I hope it is ok :)

  16. We are sailing Oct/18 out of San Juan. Has anyone gone to Dominica (2018) lately? There are very few shore excursions offered on any site. Is anything close to the port so we can walk off and do a bit of shopping and site seeing. Thanks for your help

  17. We are another 50ish couple that have sailed a dozen Carnival cruises, a 11 day NCL and 1 short cruise on Princess. We were planning another Carnival on the Splendor this October...but saw the special Celebrity had on a few days ago, and booked the Summit sailing from San Juan. We are looking forward to it,, new things. We had sailed on the Sunshine last May, and I think it was that ship that started us thinking that it was time for a change. Too loud, could not get into the pool as it was filled with kids, and in the adult only area there was never any service. The dining room singing has lost its charm.
