I’m contemplating a short one just to fill in a gap while I’m down south.  I’m hesitant because it’s such a short period and I think I would just get unpacked and then I’d be getting my disembarkation paperwork.

So far the shortest I’ve done is seven days but I much prefer long cruises with B2B compnenets.   I’ve found that with a shorter the cruise, the usual Celebrity demographic is different and not in a positive way.

One of The Thanksgiving Cruises  this year is for five nights.  This definitely attracts extended families that have limited vacation time and children’s school schedules that need to be followed.  Plenty of people take five night cruises, very unkind that you think that  these kind of cruisers affect Celebrity in a negative way.

Just back from 10 nights on the Reflection.  When we boarded and got to our cabin there was a packet from the Captains Club hostess with three pages detailing our perks as Elite and explaining the new drinks on card deal.  The drinks on your card will good at any bar on the ship except the World Class Bar and the valid hours were from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.  The drinks did indeed count against anything you might have ordered in the Sky Lounge during their CC HH from 5 to 7pm.   It seemed to work well.  We did the HH most evenings just to visit with new friends but it was also nice to be able to grab something in the dining rooms or most bars. One other note, on the evening of the Senior Officers Party for Elites and above they still and the HH and the three drinks on our cards so that was an improvement from past cruises when they canceled the HH on that evening. Still no HH or 3 drinks on departure day.

    Appreciated your response 👍.

Glad I purchased our return tickets for the Edge April crossing a few months ago.   I got business class for $1000 pp one way Edinburgh to Portland on Delta our preferred carrier.

Fingers crossed for everyone else that prices come down.   Last I checked they would be a non-starter for us.

    Joe

Got my fingers crossed too 🤞🏼to see some kind of a price break.  Never thought I would be in this position to cancel a cruise because of crazy air fares 😞

  4. Happy....you have a few options.

    1) buy a round trip ticket to Europe and throw away the return ticket (don't cancel it...just don't use it). That will probably cost just a little less than the one way fare today. Either the RT or OW fares can, and probably will change, over time...hopefully down.

    2) Wait to see what happens...look at alternate carriers who aren't on the major internet airline sites....if you find a ticket at a price that you are OK with, buy it...enjoy your cruise.

    3) If you wait and no lower fare one way ticket is available...you still have a choice of 1 above....or cancelling the cruise prior to final payment.

My bet is that you will be able to find a reasonable one way ticket..probably through choiceAir, within the next 30-60 days.

Personally, I would wait to see what happens....I wouldn't pay either the OW or RT price they are asking today....but we've cruised alot...we have no problem cancelling a cruise and finding something else to do...a river cruise, etc.

Of course, that's just my opinion.....you should do what feels right for you.

Appreciated your response, I will take the watch & wait approach suggestion. I really don’t want to cancel the cruise on the Edge (yn)

  5. Irrelevant to the discussion. airlines charge 1600 for a round trip ticket and try to sell a one way at 2000...same destinations, same flights. In one case, they get 800 each way...but if you only buy one way, they get $2000. There is only one reason for this....$$$. Why? Because they can....

So happy we have the CC blog to alert us to this new outrageous pricing for one way pricing from Cruise Air. Unfortunately we did not have our tickets purchased before this increase. We are booked for a TA April 2019, Final payment is Jan 28, 2019. I guess I will have a few months to wait and see what happens with these crazy prices. Could use some advice, should i book a round trip ticket now for better pricing or keep waiting for a price drop. When did these crazy one way tickets prices became outrageous? Thankful our OP let us know what is happening. I can see lots of people canceling their TA’s because of Cruise Air ticket prices.

  6. Just off the Infinity (2 -9 September). Constellation lounge for the elite and above gatherings. Our Seapass cards were loaded with 3 drinks each evening. Could be used in the Constellation lounge during the Happy Hour (5 to 7 PM) or any other lounge. Limited to 3 drinks no matter where you have them. The drinks being loaded on our Seapass cards had nothing to do with the number of elite and above. According to the Captains Club host this is being implemented fleetwide.

Thank you for the information. I thought the drink coupons could only be used in certain bars during Happy Hour? In my past experiences very few bars would take the coupons.

  7. and you are posting this on the Celebrity board....the company that eliminated bottled water from Aqua Class...surely you jest :)

Right on point! Hope this doesn’t start another loooong thread why certain people think it is ok not to have automatic tips added to their daily bills. I have seen to many people get excellent service and demand that their tips be refunded the last night of the cruise. There is another thread on Bad Behavior of guests, I guess this will go under cheap behavior. Some people do give tips in envelopes but I bet not the daily suggested amount. We always give in addition for good service, don’t understand why anyone thinks it is ok to remove tips after they have had good service.

  8. Mental issues, entitlement, to much alcohol or just plain rude who really knows why people behave the way they do. On our Family Thanksgiving cruise last year our Family was having dinner in the Tuscan Grill when we heard lots of screaming between two men. They both had tables for two back to back on the window. The hostesses quickly tried to defuse the argument asap. In this case to much alcohol and politics ignited the screaming match. The amazing part was they weren’t even at the same table. These men were getting ready to throw punches. In this case Security should definitely have been called. Just because other people may have issues doesn’t mean that you are not entitled to a stress free dinner after you have been seated. They teach us in grade school bad actions should have consequences. I guess I am so disgusted with hearing about so much bullying these days no matter what people’s issues may be to cause their behavior.

  9. Staying in Venice pre or post cruise is a whole different kettle of fish than most ports. I suggest you spend some time reading about it in the Ports of Call section.

Totally agree! If you are luggage heavy you certainly won’t be able to drag them over lots of bridges to get to your hotel. Also most hotels only have water taxi access and the taxi may not drop you directly by your hotel. Enjoy Venice, it is definitely unique!

  10. I am booked on the 10 night Summit cruise sailing to Bermuda and New England on June 6, 2019. The email states that the Summit has been “redeployed” and the sailing will now be an 11 night cruise with the port of Newport, RI being added. Does this mean that the ship will not be the Summit? Will the cruise no longer leave from Bayonne? They also left a vm on my cell. I am still at work and will need to call to find out what is going on. I note that on Celebrity’s website this cruise and the prior cruise has disappeared. Stay tuned for when I have answers.

    Pease keep us updated, thanks!

  11. We were told our deposit was transferable to another cruise but that was not allowed either. Very confusing!!

Keeping track of your cruise bookings has become a full time job! Non refundable vs refundable vs transferable, doesn’t always apply to your original booking when you try to upgrade to a new cabin. Regarding upgrades, some people get free ones after final payments others must pay more money. Some people are allowed to carry their perks from the original booking, some have perks taken away. My only conclusion is the people that have a great Travel Agent that does a lot of business with the Celebrity Brand seem always to maintain the best deal when making changes before or after final payment. We are Elite Plus and have never received a “free” category upgrade. On one occasion after final payment we paid a up charge from Aqua Class to a Suite and it was not inexpensive. If anyone has any secrets to share going through a change in your original booking to help making it a easier transition with less penalties I would appreciate you giving me some advice.

    Thank you;)

  12. We sailed on the Celebrity Summit last year and truly enjoyed sailing her primarily attributable to the fact we were in a Sky Suite for the first time.

We enjoyed priority boarding/debarkation, Luminae was the best restaurant we have eaten at sea (including the service and Maggy made our trip), and enjoyed getting away from the crazy at Michael s.

My question to the experts is, whether or not I will be disappointing in booking a Aqua Class room? I know there is Blu but we never ate there, and I suppose the question I am asking is what do you get as a suite guest that you don't get as a Aqua Class Room guest?

The price is double (Aqua vs. a Sky) and while the trip was good, it was not that good.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thank you in adv

    ance.

Aqua vs Sky, all about what price you are comfortable with. With most people getting the drink package as a perk Michael’s Club is no longer a must for drinks. Blu and Luminae are both very nice with usually quiet dining in a small venue. If you select a Aqua Class cabin on either S or M Class ships be very careful about what is above your head, some are really in very noisy locations. Enjoy your cruise!

  13. Not much information on the Spreadsheets regarding how loud and disturbing the movies are above the Aqua Class Cabins on Deck 12. I would appreciate if you could tell me where on 11 not to book a cabin and where the loud speakers might be over our head. Thank you. We will be on the Summit in the Fall.

  14. We just got off Solstice in an Aqua Class stateroom. There was priority boarding, but not really necessary as the lines for everyone moved swiftly. Out stateroom attendant told us to let him know when we wanted our complimentary bottle of champagne, and he would ice it for us. They no longer have it on ice when you arrive because most people don't drink it right away. With regard to the canapes, just tell your stateroom attendant that you want it everyday, or opt out of it completely. Personally, I loved the canapes they provided, but if you ask my wife, she wouldn't touch them. I tell her she has no palate.

Visiting the Helo pad is by invite only, but they never checked if you just went up there with the crowd.

Any updates on getting daily complimentary bottles of water? Read some prior threads that it depends on the ship and room attendant if you receive the water perk.;)
