  1. I want to thank everyone for their feedback, especially MoCruiseFan for enlightening me about the Social Media Group that buys/sell FCCs.  I have sold them for a fair price and can remove this burden from my brain.  LOL.
To answer a couple of questions:  Mom celebrates 90 in August (broke her shoulder at age 88).
My brother, who had Covid when Mom did, subsequently got the “vaccine”, and suffered greatly… hence Mom will not take it.  I don’t blame her, either.

    Ya’ll have a wonderful day!

  2. I appreciate everyone’s input, and I understand human curiosity.  [My mom, almost 90, has survived 2 cases of Covid = we are blessed and thankful.]  I have submitted the proper form asking for an extension of the deadline to use (in case they lift the Vax requirements)  OR a refund. I am also working towards selling FCC in case we get denied.

    Thanks, everyone.

Sorry to hear about your mom, hope she is better now.  The FCC can easily be transferred (sold) to another party.  There is a group on a large social media site to assist in doing that.  How much FCC do you have and is it the 100% FCC or the 25% bonus?

Thanks for your input, Mo. I had no idea I could sell them.  We have over $2300.00 in the FCC, I’m really not sure if we got the 25% bonus…. (It was a stressful situation for many other people as well - details get forgotten).  Mom turns 90 in a few months and has fully recovered from the broken shoulder and 2 rounds of Covid (the original, as well as the Omnicron)… she longs to cruise again but won’t  be Vax’d.  I shall try to find the social media group. Thanks for answering my call of assistance.

Thousands and thousands of people wanted their money back and not a FCC due to vaccine requirements whether it was a refusal or for some reason "can't" so you're not alone as this has gone on a long time. When is the last time you called and talked to an NCL rep? I only ask because regardless of what has happened to others all you can do is worry about you and take care  your own personal situation.  I haven't heard about anyone getting their money back because they refused to get vaccinated. Call for the extension if you haven't done so recently as you weren't clear when you last contacted them.

4-5 months ago. I will try again.  Thanks!

  5. Has anyone else asked NCL to refund your $$ because you can not cruise using your FCC due to their current requirements?  My mother (age 88) fell and broke her shoulder (became practically bedridden) and I was her caretaker for months; in Spring 2020; missing the email that NCL sent out about applying for refunds. Once I DID find out (3 months late), they refused my request saying the deadline had passed.  I have booked and rebooked, hoping their policy would change, but my time expires Dec 2022.  I can not get Vax’d. Can not get a refund.  I feel like they have stolen my money ($2,300), since my NCL agreement to take their FCC had NO vaccine requirements at that time. (March 2020 - their wasn’t a Covid vaccine).   What would you do or suggest?

  6. We were refused the refund last summer .... as I was not aware of the “refund offer” in April 2020.  (My elderly mother fell and broke her shoulder — as caregiver all Cruise stuff took a very back seat to my concerns.  It was months (July), before I returned to tying up loose ends.)  NCL - via telephone calls - didn’t care.  I wrote an appeal letter to the President/CEO a few weeks ago... haven’t heard back.

    😝

  7. :halo:

I know that you shouldn't assume, but I will throw caution to the wind. I assume that many of the members that post in this forum are retired, and I was wondering what you did to celebrate your retirement. Does not have be a cruise, just curious (throwing caution to the wind again) what other people did.

I took a cruise on the Freedom of the Seas with DW and another couple. All four of us got the drink package, and it was nice to not have to have a designated driver. We (DW and myself) booked a JS on the hump. I think we got spoiled and will be looking to book JS or higher on our future cruises. It was a Western Caribbean itinerary, and we had a great time. Labadee and Falmouth were alright, but the Caymans and Cozumel fantastic.

So what did you all do?

    Craig

    Hi Craig,

DH and I retired in Spring 2011. Immediately flew from TX to Ca to drive our son’s van to VA for him. (He and his wife were on deputation raising support for missionary work and had flown to VA for a couple of meetings.)

On the way we picked up our car in TX - as to be able to come back easily while sight seeing.

From there we meandered back to TX where we nailed down the details of our real retirement trip: a 10 day “Walking Tour of Italy”, booked through GoAhead Tours, beginning in Florence and ending in Rome (FABULOUS!) ... booked a van to transport us from Rome to Citivecchia (Rome’s nearest Port), for our ‘first ever’ cruise. And what a joy it was.

Cruising the Mediterranean for 12 nights aboard the 2-mo old Celebrity Silhouette! We fell in love with cruising right then and there. After 7 cruises, we will be board the Silhouette again in April 2018, headed from FL to South Hampton, England. Love TransAtlantics.

In between ... we’ve sold our home, moved into a little trailer in the country (where no one bothers anything), bought an RV and are free to roam when the mood hits.

It’s great. Our only other commitments are to our church involvements - both at home and in CA (where our 2nd son is also a pastor). We love both churches.

Wishing you (and everyone reading this post) a very Merry Christmas and pray if you are not saved that you’d allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead you to the real Jesus Christ - the son of God. The real reason for the season!

BECAUSE, no matter how good or bad this life goes, each of us has an eternity waiting. It’s beyond important to make these decisions carefully.

    :)

  8. Rest assured that Carnival isn't going to sail their very expense boat any where close to a tropical cyclone.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I'm not worried about Carnival's expensive boat ... I'm worried about getting my husband ON the boat with hurricanes on the horizon ... especially if already in the Gulf. He's not a fan ...

  9. okay people... thoughts...

Going out of New Orleans next Sunday (Sept 10), on the Carnival Dream but now there is a disturbance forming in the gulf and Hurricane Irma is projected to hit all of the ports we were scheduled to visit ... probably by Friday or Saturday (7th or 8th) ...

    Key West, Nassau, and Freeport.

Does Carnival cancel or what to expect?

  10. Our retirement celebration and 40th wedding anniversary was celebrated with something so very new for us. We flew from Houston to Paris to Florence Italy. Toured Italy with a group of 7 other couples (all unknown to us) for a 10 day "Walking Tour of Italy", followed by a fabulous 12 night Mediterranean cruise out of Civitivecchia, on the (almost brand new) Celebrity Silhouette. WE LOVED IT ALL. It was our first time to Italy and our first cruise. I long to go back, but so much to see and do elsewhere!

Time has flown by ... it really seems as if we retired last year!

  11. DH and I have been retired for 3 years... Can't believe that. We celebrated the retirement and our 40th anniversary with a 10-day "Walking Tour of Italy" combined with a 12 night Mediterranean cruise... It was our first and rather awesome.

The next year was a Caribbean cruise, then a trans-Atlantic... Followed by an Alaskan cruise this past July. I'm so ready to find the next!

God is good (always) and retirement has been fun.
