  1. I've been on the Conch train & Old Towne Trolley. Old Towne Trolley had ALOT more stops and takes you have the beaten track. I'd recommend them any day!

  2. Loved it loved it loved it! This was the highlight of our cruise. The beach was super quite and the food & staff were excellent. My sister & I even paid extra to snorkel.

  3. Hmmmm... to native Vermonters get a discount? ;) I grew up in Burlington and remember going to the converted garage where they started. It always smelled so good.. like fresh sugar cones! YUM!!

Sorry the suite was so noisy. :( I would be okay for me seeing I can't hear well out of one ear.

  4. I think it has to do with survival instincts. If you are up on deck 12 forward doing something and those bells ring, in a true emergency who is going to say...I have to walk all the way to the aft and down 6 flights of stairs...instinct is going to take you down 6 flights of stairs to the CLOSEST lifeboat...and I think that is what happened on Concordia...if the ship is sinking, they are not going to tell you that you have to go to the front and other side of the ship to your lifeboat...

I don't really think anything will run smoothly in the event of an emergency, muster drill or not...

I also think by the time the abandon ship signal was given the ship was listing so much that some of the lifeboats were useless. One video I remember seeing was of a lifeboat trying to make it down an almost 90 degree angle. Physics tells us this is near impossible... but you do what you can when the other side of the ship is underwater. If the ship wasn't so close to shore I am sure alot more people would have died. Thank GOD it was close to shore!!

  5. This thread has really opened my eyes. Thank you!! I am going on my 3rd cruise in June. My first muster drill was in a lounge and we didn't go out to the lifeboat... in fact I had no clue where "our" boat was. The second cruise we were standing on the outside deck near several life boats (both drills were without life vests). I honestly don't think anyone took it serious... especially since all the instructions were coming from the intercom. The person "in charge" was very hard to understand with the noises of the ship and the fact their accents are so strong. How effective are these drills? One thing that was laughable was when they said, "Women and children first"... there was a audible laugh since the boat was 90% women passengers.

  6. I've been to HMC on both my cruises and LOVED IT. Since the cruises I went on were theme cruises HMC wasn't as relaxing as you all make it sound. LOL The water is A-MAZING!!!!!!! I have never seen water so blue in my life... breathtaking. This year I went horseback riding which was one of the highlights of my cruise. The horses don't just walk in the water they actually swim. The guides were awesome... they take photos of you with your own camera. I am planning on riding again in 2012.
