Sorry Brandy if I've been a negative voice. Whatever you decide to do I wish you a great cruise. I suppose the worst that can happen is an extra night's stay in Southampton :-) Happy travelling
Presto please don't be sorry, I asked for opinions.
Thanks again for your input. :)

Don't be too put off by the London route to the North East! My daughter and I were forced to use this route to travel from Durham to Southampton in August because I left it a bit late booking and there were no seats left on the direct train to Southampton.
We were dreading it but actually it was very easy. Durham to Kings Cross 2 hours 55 minutes, then 10 minutes in the taxi queue with 2 efficient Marshalls organising people. 17 minutes to Waterloo, and our train came in 5 minutes later; we were allowed straight on and it was just over an hour to Southampton. Really good journey and cheaper than the direct train too! I'd do it again.
Thanks Clodia. We hope to get the train we are booked on but if not we wil get the next one.

I'm having nightmares.
Some people telling me they had no problems as we didn't last year.but then others telling me their worst experience.
Thanks for your input everyone.
We will just have to wait and see.
If we miss the train we will just have to pay the price and get the next one.

Just be careful - we did self disembarkation in April 2014. The ship was 2 hours late in and it was a nightmare as we were mixed up with the other passengers keeping to their time. I also found the huge escalators frightening with large cases.
Just our opinion , and we are ok re the mobility, but would think twice before doing it again.
PS Glad we found you 103brandy :D;)
We use the lifts not escalators. What time did your ship get in?

I have looked up the train times for 23 Nov on the National Rail website. The 0930 train to Newcastle is via London, which involves a station change via the underground. Not easy to hump luggage up and down escalators.
There is a direct train to Newcastle at 0946 and another at 1146.
Brian
Thanks Brian, we are on the 9.46 direct train. I said 9.30 as I like to get to the station in good time.
We got the 11.46 train last year and were at the station when the earlier one came in so had to sit around for two hours. That's why we booked the earlier one this time.

There is a point just after descending to ground level where you can obtain assistance from one of the porters. They line up with barrows at the bottom of the escalator/stairs. Tell them you want a taxi and they will get you to the rank. From this point they will be handling your cases while you walk without luggage, this is significantly easier.
You still need to self disembark from the ship to the ground floor.
Regards John
Thanks John, looks like this will be our best plan.
Our train is not until 9.47am so hopefully if we can self disembark just after 8 we will have plenty of time.
-
You also need to factor in customs. Many times we have walked through and seen none, but after one cruise on Ventura, customs had over 20 staff on duty and were rigorously searching passengers luggage. Disembarkation was running nearly 2 hours behind schedule.

We've been through many times and the only times we've seen customs are when coming in from the Canary Islands when they look fo duty free cigarettes and alcohol
I'm sure they are there every cruise but not visible.
As I said to Dai, we will just have to walk off with our luggage .
-
Very earliest I have been off is about 8.30 and that was with priority. You only have to have a minor holdup and that can move back 30 to 40 minutes. Even if you get off at 08.30 you still have to find you luggage and then get a taxi.
You will be very lucky to get your train.

Thanks Dai, we will just have to walk off with our luggage somehow.
We have four wheel cases so they just roll along but my mobility isn't great.
-
The only way to get off early is to do self disembarkation where you have to carry ALL your luggage with you. Otherwise book a later train?
Brian
We've already booked the train Brian. It's the only direct one that day.
It would be a struggle to walk off with luggage . I'm sure we have been off the ship before 9 previously.
-
Our train leaves Southampton Central at 9.30am.
However I have since read that disembarkation doesn't begin until 9am.
I'm sure that we have been off earlier previously.
Is there any way we can arrange to leave earlier without having to walk off with our luggage?
We are on Ventura 23/11/16. Mayflower terminal.

Arena shows on N621 (15-29/8) were 2030 and 2230, although one evening when the weather was forecast to be adverse the late show was re-scheduled for 1830. Tamarind and Havana shows were usually 2030/2230 although sometimes they were 2130/2330 and some midnight shows if it was deemed adult content. We could usually found something of interest at a time to suit. we only attended the Arena shows at 2230, a couple of occasions it was standing room only but most times there was always availability.
Thanks lactic on. It looks like the ship isn't full so hopefully we will get seats ok.
-
Thanks for a prompt reply John.
Those times are just as we like them. We are late dining on a table for four with friends.
The American ships are doing the shows at 7pm for late diners and 9pm for early diners.
-
Can anyone tell us what time the evening show is for late diners on Ventura?
We prefer to go after dinner but some cruise lines have it before dinner at 7pm.
Hope it's 10.30 ish.

Thanks Aim1:D

Important Notification
**Notification of maintenance work**
A container will be loaded on the port side of the sun deck (13) on 27th May. This is a temporary generator which is being installed in order for us to undertake some essential maintenance.
We have endeavoured to position this generator in a position that impacts our passengers as little as possible but it will mean a slight restriction of movement on the port side of the sun deck.
We can assure you that the addition of this generator does not have any impact on the safe operation of the ship.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding. We wish you a most enjoyable cruise with us.
-
We sail on 27th May and have just been informed that there will be a container containing a temporary generator on deck 13 Sun Deck to enable them to carry out essential maintenance work.
We are assured the ship will be safe to travel on.

I can see the advantage of the ships tour as you won't have nearly 2 hours to wait at Donbas for the return train. There seems very little to do there?
You are right. There's not much there.
It was nice to see the countryside from the bus on the way there as well as the train on the way back.
There are reserved carriages for the ships tour but there are plenty of other carriages for people going on their own.
-
We booked on a ships tour. We were bussed up and got the train back.
It's very easy to do it independently . The train terminus is just minutes from the ship.

Hi there is this on the reflection ? I'm on the reflection category 1A csbin. 8197
Question I know it's a larger balcony but I hope there is sun and not too dark! Also is it port or starboard side! Do you highly recommend it! On it March 14, 2015, can't wait
Hi,
No this is Silhouette but same class as reflection.
Your cabin is port side. It depends which direction the ship is sailing if you get sun or not.
That balcony is shady at the back but you should get sun further forward.
If you go to the celebrity site and click on plan a cruise, then ships, you can explore the ship.
-
Thankyou for the information.
There are tea making facilities in cabins on ships leaving from Sputhampton.
Are they on the Infinity from Harwich?
-
Thank you cruise stitch. I'll call them tomorrow.:)
-
I haven't yet made a booking.
I bought the future cruise credit on board and assigned it to my US TA.
I wish to book a cruise using this with a different US TA.
Just wondered if I would have to contact Celebrity to transfer the open cruise credit to a new TA.
-
Thank you Westlakegirl.
It is held by a US TA . Do I just contact a new agent with the details or do I have to call Celebrity?
-
I bought an open cruise credit on our last Celebrity cruise. I placed it with my regular TA. I am not happy with their service. On two occasions they have not replied to my enquiries.
Is it possible to transfer it to another TA and make future bookings with them?
Carnival shares
in P&O Cruises ( UK )

Am I right in thinking if shares are bought through Infiniti you just have to send your share certificate number and cruise details?
I recall someone saying that P@O have access to those shares so you dont have to email proof.
