  1. Hello! My friends and I are Big 10 fans. We are booked on the December 1 Cuba cruise. The Big 10 Championship game is on Fox on December 2 at 8 pm ET. Has anyone out there ever streamed a live sporting event? If so, can you give a brief description of the process. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could stream the SEC Championship game as well? Thanks.

  2. Arrived home Monday late from our July 25 disastrous cruise on the "Star" which only made it from Stockholm to Tallinn. Waiting in the mail was a small box with a limited edition "coin" commemorating the "Viking Star's" 2015 Christening. Almost as laughable as the flyer which was put in our cabin on the night the Captain announced we would no longer be continuing to Bergen. The flyer invited us to the Explorer's Desk to learn about future cruises that might interest us. Sounds like Viking owners "just don't get it."

Trying to decide what we can possibly do with this new coin and the other 2 we received - "Keel Laying 2013" and "Sea Trials 2015" (what a joke). Ebay anyone? After all, they are "limited editions."

Since we didn't buy ANY souvenirs at all, I thought it was a nice trinket - very nicely packaged in black velvet box, lined with white satin. I am keeping it :-)

  3. Is there an area on Viking Ocean cruise ships where one can ballroom dance? Wooden dance floor? And would they play the type of music one could do these types of dances? Foxtrot, Tango, Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba, Waltz....? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I know there are some cruises that are themed to ballroom dancing. We like to dance but aren't necessarily interested in an entire cruise devoted to dancing.

There is a very nice band in the Torshavn Lounge. They play a lot of great music you can dance to. The singer, Krisztina, I believe, does a good job. The only problem is that there is nobody there!! We went in several times on the August 8 Bergen - Barcelona and we were the only couple. A few nights there were three or so other couples. I wish more people would participate and be able to appreciate this nice combo of musicians. If eight or more couples ever happened to be in there, it might get too crowded for "traditional" ballroom dancing. However, I don't see that happening :-)

    Just go and enjoy yourselves!!!

  4. There is a member review of the August 8th sailing if anyone is interested. Sounds like the ship has mechanical issues.

The comments and details in this review are 100% accurate! We were there as well. We have cruised Viking River twice before. Those extremely positive experiences, along with "2 days Paris" and "2 days London", and a beautiful new ship were the reasons we chose this cruise. Unfortunately, the cruise did not meet our expectations, nor Viking standards. For the time being, we will stick with Viking River cruises.

  5. Yes, we very seriously considered cancelling our August 8 trip. However, we loved our two previous Viking River tours and decided to try to make the best of it. We are very disappointed that our "almost false advertising" of two days London and two days Paris, won't happen at all.
