  1. Both are on Avenida Velasquez (the long/wide/not particularly attractive main road into the city from the west) and therefore both have easy access to the city centre; the Hilton Gardens Malaga is next to the Puerta Blanca Metro underground station and the Holiday Inn Malaga Airport is on the 'A Bus' route. Both the bus and Metro trams operate every 20-30 minutes.

    The Holiday Inn is closest to the Airport and you can take the 'A Bus' direct from outside 'Arrivals' to the hotel - I believe the hotel even refunds your fare if you do this! The Hilton would have slightly quicker access to the city centre.

    If you take the 'A Bus' into the city centre stay on beyond the bus station and get off at the Parque de la Marina which is only a couple of minutes walk from the Cathedral and Old City centre - approaching stops are shown on the buses lighted display boards so, as long as you watch this, you won't miss your stop.

    Hope this helps.

    campolady;

  3. I am finding very conflicting advice regarding the dress codes for the formal nights. Some say there is a dumbing down of the dress code and others say there are still many tux/ballgowns on the go. I sail on Brilliance of the Seas 12 night Med leaving Barcelona on 25th July. We are a famly of 5 - 2 adults and an 18, 15 and 12 year old. This is our first time cruising and I'm anxious not to get it wrong. Any advice gratefully received!

    I would be more concerned with luggage weight limits. Especially in you are flying too & from Europe.

  4. On ships that have a DL they have a Continental Breakfast and the latte/cappuccino machine is there all day.

    I reached out the VP of Food and Beverage at Royal HQ specifically about Empress that does not have a DL. He replied to me as follows:

    "This is to confirm that we serve the complimentary specialty coffee in the Dining Room (for Diamonds and above) and in the Chops (which is set up for Diamond plus and Pinnacle breakfast). All only for the breakfast time frame."

    I hope this makes it clearer to those who are interested.

    Paulette3028, Thank you for the post. It certainly clears things up about the latte/cappuccino:D

  5. I need some help. I tend to over analyze everything. We are in our forties never been on a cruise, not the big party scene type of people but we don't want boring and stuffy either. Does anyone have any suggestions? How many nights is good for your first time? I do have motion sickness so I don't think I would want a 7 day or longer cruise. Thanks you!

    We like Royal Caribbean!!!! Our cruise line of choice, and they are the ones that get most of our cruise dollars.

  6. Looking at the 4 Day Bahamas on MOS in mid October out of Miami. DW is concerned about weather and it is in Hurricane season. Any advice on booking during this time and what is the condition of the ship? We've only been on Jewel and Serenade. It looks like they don't have MTD either, something we both like.

    Don't miss out on an opportunity to sail on a once great ship! We have sailed on her several times and enjoyed her. She will be leaving the fleet soon!
