  1. Hello

We are cruising in March sailing on a Friday.    We plan on driving in on Thursday and i am looking for suggestions as to where to stay in a NY hotel but not in the city.   I am worried about rush hour traffic.   We do not plan on any sight seeing just driving in to be closer to the pier.

We have cruised from NY previously but we stayed in NJ and went thru the Lincoln tunnel but it

was a Sunday and we breezed in  but thinking the traffic will be terrible during rush hour.

Any suggestions would be appreciated I am thinking maybe 30 minutes away.

  2. Hello,

We have decided to go the day before our cruise which leaves from NY in March.  We have previously

stayed in NJ and crossed thru the Lincoln Tunnel but it was a Sunday so we breezed in.  It was easy

and convenient.    This time we are leaving on a Friday and not sure if the Lincoln Tunnel is a nightmare

    on a Friday morning.

Or where open for any suggestion starting to stress as to where to stay.... would you suggest that is not in NYC that we can stay coming from Massachusetts about maybe 20-30 minutes away.

    Thanks for your help!

  3. Looking for advice on shore excursions for San Juan, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. John and St. Thomas from

people who have been to some or all of these islands.

My group are really  not beach people and they don't want to hike, snorkel, sail etc.  and I am the one

that has to pick what to do......looking for suggestions that don't include the beach.  Many reviews I have

read reviews on say boring like the train and trolley rides which were on my list to check out.....

All suggestions welcome all of us are in our 60's.  Help the decisions is on me!  lol

  4. Hi all,

i have sailed from New York before but on a Saturday or Sunday.   Our March cruise leaves on a Friday and I have 2 concerns.   First we are thinking of maybe driving on sail day from Boston.  For those who have ever done that how long was the drive on a Friday morning from Boston to the pier.

Stressing about traffic and missing the ship.

My next question is if we leave on the Thursday before which would be after work  around 7pm where would a decent hotel be

thinking maybe in CT about 2 1/2 hours out of Boston?

    Thanks for your help!

  5. Cruising to Port Canaveral in March not sure what excursion to take as we are there just for the day.

Thinking of going out on our own. Are there any attractions, tourist spots walkable from the pier? Not interested in Disney/universal tour as we have already been there.

Looking for any suggestions in the area.

    Thanks!!

  6. Hi All,

Booked BA for March 2018. I have cabin 8778 and I am wondering if anyone stayed in this cabin. I read that you can see the balcony from the waterfront but not quit sure what they mean

    by that.

Also, I saw one time a picture of the BA with all the cabins numbers

showing on the outside. Does anyone have that. Thinking of switching cabins but not sure yet.

    Thanks!

  7. I just booked the BA for March 4 and have a few questions

Florida Bahamas how are the seas and weather usually in March?

I booked a balcony on deck 8 I liked the location but I am a bit worried it is closer to the front than I would like we are at the front staircase. If you look at the deck plan there is a blue line balcony side anyone one know what that is?

will it be too cool to actually enjoy the balcony?

Also I saw on this board a picture that showed from the outside the cabin numbers does anyone have that? Trying to figure out how up front we actually are.

I never traveled in March so I guess I am a bit apprehensive and thinking of changing our cabin.

    Thanks for your help!

  8. Great thread nice to see more Dawn info!

Leaving next Friday looking forward to seeing the Daileys as to see if any thing is different from last years trip.

Thanks for all the info! Happy sailing for those leaving today!

  9. It was a lousy day for a sail away but that's ok it's still a cruise!!

Hopefully the weather gets better. Thanks for the info dja1031 do you know if Edgar was one of the maitre d's?

I also read that Jose and Patty get off when we get on, Guess we will have to wait to see who takes there place for the summer sailings.

  10. Hi Patty I see you have gone in May before. I usually go in the summer how is it in May? I am assuming it is not as humid. How have seas been I

In May? I am going mid May looking forward to hear about your trip when you get back. It will be nice to see the changes for the Americas Cup. We saw lots of cleaning up and upgrades to the Dockyard last year when we were there.

  11. Hi all,

With the Dawn coming up to Boston soon I was wondering if anyone knows who any of the crew is...caption, cruise director, managers etc.

Also, we do this run every year wondering what entertainment is on board and if any of the shows have changed. Not sure if things will change after she gets here from the repo cruise but it's a start.

  12. We will be on the Dawn yet again in July as we love this ship! It would be nice to know who the officers/staff/cruise director/entertainment etc will be. We have read about some of the changes and upgrades so it would be nice to know other info. I am really looking forward to seeing the new makeover!!
