  1. I have done promenade twice and loved it - a great way to get a cheaper cabin but have a window. i liked it more than an outside cabin, but if you can get a balcony guarantee at the same or better price that is also great (which I have next cruise). I was level 7 over the customer service area - this is definitely a very quiet end as none of the entertainment comes back that far. it was also disappointing that I couldn't see the entertainment as well as those further along, but it was great to see when customer service was busy or quiet.

personally I would book this cabin again but would try for one closer to the cafe/pub end of the strip

  2. if you get a package and cancel make sure it is after the last drink of that day - whatever time you cancel it they will stop you accessing it and zero the sticker on your card, however you will still be charged the full rate for that day.

I haven't seen the 10 drink packs, that would be of more use for me than the packages as I don't drink enough.

the 2 bottles is per room not per person (although I am not sure how thoroughly they check at security.

  3. If you don't mind how long the trip in is they are ok. There are clear signs around baggage claim showing where they are. Getting back you tell them your flight and they give you a pick up time. The alternative is the train that gets you to the city stations but if you don't know the city the bus is better

  4. I would love to have come and met you all (and fill everyone in on my recent Voyager cruise) but sadly something has come up and I can't join you. Have a great catch up and I would love to try and get to on in the future (and have found and joined the Canberra Cruisers page).

    cheers

    Tania

  5. There are benefits between 175 and 700. head over to the C & A site and check it out...includes a free cruise.

As long as I know that Gold still must carry the luggage of those at the D+ level, and throw rose petals at the feet of the D+ members wherever they walk on the ship, I need no additional level.

so long as you sneak me into the diamond lounge on the cruise TM, I will happily distribute petals at your feet :D

  6. Ocean Boy covered off on most of the detail. I had the same experience with the dockets.

you can get some discrimination from the bar tenders if you show the sticker up front as they don't make any money from your sale I think - only flash the card once you have got service. we also had issues with bottled water - for the first 4 days they supposedly were yet to have water delivered to the bars from the storage areas.

do check though that the RR sticker has been applied - last year i pre-purchased the RR package but only got the Coke logo embossed onto my card. it was only when I tried to use it at the bar for a cocktail that the bartender explained I needed the sticker. I had to visit customer service to get it sorted. Also the stickers are not very durable, you will probably need to get a replacement part way through any cruise longer than a week.

  7. it depends on the security whether they take power boards or not - also whether you have them in your carry on or checked luggage. last year all powerboards in hand luggage got confiscated. ultimately you can try but be prepared to lose it.

if you stick with a smaller arrangement or the USB charges with a US adapter plug you will probably be safer.

  8. +1 for any of the Alcatraz tours - it is a fascinating place to visit and a great view of the bridge and city from the water.

There is a Muir Woods & Sausalito tour that is well worth it - the woods are just amazing and if you are lucky you may see some wildlife. Sausalito is a quaint little town with lovely food places and shopping.

Coit Tower on Telegraph hill is worth a visit as well (I think I got a bus to there), giving great views of the water and the city.

Fisherman's market is entertaining, there was a place near the middle where bread was delivered by baskets on a cable - you can get the traditional clam chowder but as a non-seafood eater i got a tomato soup version. allow lots of time to wander this street as there is so much to see.

if you are there on a weekend the markets on the waterfront (ferry building I think) are great to visit. also allow time to move out of the main town centre to places like Haight-Ashbury which is a very different feel.

the tourist bus is a great way to get around - get a multi day pass. also buy a multi day pass for the cable cars to get around.

if you are looking at accommodation - check the White Swan Inn - it was a great place to stay in 2010. check Tripadvisor to see if it still rates. it was a good B&B style venue although you need to be able to handle stairs.
