  1. I was also on this sailing. We booked last minute and ended up with an OV on deck one. I found the room to be dirty. Luckily I brought some wipes and did my own cleaning. Accumulated dirt and dust in the corners of the bathroom counter and where the counter meets the wall. Glass shelves in bathroom extremely dirty. I didn’t use them. Tile wall decoration was filthy. Found many long black hairs. I’m sure there was more but I tried not to look. Cabin had no glasses, no TV remote, and no snoozing hang tag. Steward didn’t know how to make the bed. Ate dinner in MDR. I have always enjoyed Carnival food but not this time. No offer of coffee after the meal to have with dessert. Bread basket only came around once. I don’t eat at the buffet. Too many less than clean hands. Walked through the buffet late at night when no food was being served and it smelled like old grease. We haven’t cruised with Carnival in many years so have not been able to see the changes gradually. We won’t be back. I rather pay more for a better product.

  2. It really doesn’t matter that people aren’t washing their hands when entering the buffet. Their dirty habits will continue after hand washing. Butt scratching, nose picking, coughing in hands, handling dirty tissues, rearranging the boys, finger licking. I could go on forever. All that and more negates the hand washing they just did. I’m a serious people watcher. All the nasty habits catch my eye.

  3. That pretty much sums up all the complaints. All aspects of cruising is pretty subjective but I was surprised to see mostly negative comments. Like I said we are pretty low maintenance and go with the flow kind of folks.

  4. We are doing land first and cruising from Anchorage to Vancouver.

There were complaints about pretty much everything.

Thanks for your responses. I’m feeling much better now and looking forward to trying Princess.

  5. We have cruised many times. Most recently our cruise line of choice has been Celebrity. We have also cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Cunard, and Viking river cruise. We wanted to try Princess so we booked an Alaskan cruise tour.  We are pretty low maintenance but I have been reading some reviews on Royal Princess and they are not good at all. Is Royal Princess that bad?

  6. I try to avoid excursions with lunch included. I have been on a few and found that the food was either lacking or I didn’t like what was served. Lunch takes away a lot of time from sightseeing. I’d rather see the sights and walk around than spend 1 1/2 to 2 hrs sitting at a table. Easy to grab a quick bite of some deliciousness on your own.

  7. We are new to Cunard. We live in Florida and have a very casual life style. My husband does not own a tux or dark suit. He plans to wear khakis and long sleeve shirt for casual nights. My question is for gala nights. We are traveling in Europe for 2mos prior to our TA. He does not want to lug a suit or tux around Europe. If needed he will hire a tux on board. I was wondering if a sport coat will pass on gala nights. We will be in Britannia restaurant.

  8. We are booked on westbound TA in an OV. Our first cruise with Cunard. We sail in June. Should we be hopeful about an upgrade or not even bother because it won’t happen? Final payment is in 10 days. I tried to count cabins but it was a bit difficult on their website.
