I have it from the main man himself that Capt Teo goes on vacation from Indy this Saturday 16th.
-
Yes powered wheelchairs are allowed.
Capt Gus had his maintenance guys working flat out to get the lift repaired for my late wife to be able to experience.
The Ifly can also be made accessible.

Forgot to add in the event of evacuation anywhere, on a plane or ship, the whole thing can be grabbed by as little as two people. Designed to be comfortable to sit on for longer periods.

I am totally heart broken. The TA on Indy was going to be the one where I scatter my wifes ashes in the Caribbean. Wanted Indy and early November as the criteria. Nothing else now appeals to me. Probably means we will never see Indy in the UK again. Really bad show RCL. 😥

Have you tried this.
Made in the UK but works anywhere including cruise ships.

Sorry but iFly is accessible. My wife has very short arms and legs and she did it in Gibraltar on her birthday. We expected H&S issues but the instructors stepped up and got her flying. I think personally they relished the challenge. Needed a bit of dutch courage to get her in and out the tube but thereafter she loved it. Yes you can do Northstar in a wheelchair so long as the lift works. It was broke when we got on Anthum and after my wife badgering Captain Gus it was fixed before too long. He stopped us when with his family when we were on a tour to say it was fixed. Enjoy they will do their best to accommodate your needs.

Try this, we have one.

Quite easy to set up and totally portable.

Back to the thread. Find a manager usually white shirted. They will supervise other staff in getting your food, table drinks etc using the most wonderful hand signals from one end of the buffet to the other. As my wife is in a wheelchair and we both have short arms, by the end of the cruise the staff are almost fighting over who is going to serve us. Sometimes the main Dining waiters work the buffet so we get even more special attention. You only have to ask.

Hi
We have done 8315 twice on Indy. Please note it gets very dark with all the lights out. We had the table taken out and acquired an outdoor sun lounger/ balcony chair to use in the shower. Only issue we had was when we first went to the cabin all the cases were lined up in the corridor and *315 would be a few yards along. Same again on night before disembarking. Even at nearly midnight had to find security to run the gauntlet of cases. We always ask the steward to help us unpack and pack as this took me hours the first time we went. Also a shoe hanger on the cabin side of the bathroom is useful for stuff like hair brushes, powder, make up etc. We actually turned the bed 45 degrees so the wheelchair had more room to get close to the bed. Don't be afraid to ask, the crew on Indy are fantastic.

Don't forget to take one for yor cabin steward. Its their Easter as well. :D

Hi
I have a few photos of when we went on the Getaway's one night to nowhere.
We were in an accessible balcony.
Can you send me your PM or can someone tell me how to put 5 or 6 pictures on here.

We did a 2 day tour with Alla Tours. My wife uses an electric wheelchair and it was totally accessible. Would recomend a scooter though as I walked miles!!!!

We were in cabin oops Stateroom 8128 next door recently.
The cabin is well equiped and spacious. However there are no power sockets near the bed so we took an extension lead with us. There are two each US and UK sockets and there is lots of storage space.
The bathroom is big but is prone to flooding so we had to put a towel barrier outside the door to soak up the overspill.
Just as an aside, because we are both disabled it takes longer for us to shower and subsequently we had two calls from the bridge as their heat alarm kept going off.
If you get Joel, he is a great steward despite having loads of rooms to do.
The balcony overlloks deck 7 but horizontally there is no obstruction.
The laundry is a dozen doors away and you are right by the rear lift block D so its good to get to the buffet on 7 or the Queens Room on 3.
Sorry didn't get photos but for the disabled its a great choice.

Hi Gaz
My wife is a full time wheelie (Spectra + XTR2) and we have done most of the ports you mention. Firstly Britannia is a lovely ship but the lifts can be a nightmare at peak times. They forgot? to put in stairs at the front end so everyone uses the lifts. The accessible cabins are very spacious and there is loads of room for your chair.
Now onto the ports.
Gibraltar - Very accessible into and around town but unless you pre book an accessible taxi you won't get up to the Apes. Best place for Duty Free.
Cartegena - Struggling to remember this place although it must have been accessible.
Palma - Shuttle into town is accessible and lots of shops and things to do.
Barcelona - Again shuttle into town and its very flat (was an Olympic City). Watch out for pickpockets though.
Cadiz - Ports right in town but sightly hilly. If lucky you can get taxi to Seville or Jerez (horse riding school).
Lisbon - Shuttle depending on dock. Cobblestones and drop curbs are an issue but some great restaurants and don't miss sail in or away.
Shore excursions did try to accommodate trips better than usual but do some research before going.
Regards Daz.

We now have bought two so we bring them from home.

Hi, this is available in the uk with or without lid. Very easy to fit once the original toilet seat has been removed by ships maintenance.

Very secure and my wife swears by them now.

We just got off Anthem on July 4th and Elise from Australia was the AM.
Amy was on board and it was good to see her again from Indy.
Joff was the CD but he had a few days break at home during this cruise.

Hello, we were on the maiden Canaries cruise two weeks ago. We had accessible balcony cabin c441 which was very midship only 4 cabins away from the midship lifts. Now there's the problem, there are no midship stairs so all go for the lifts which was further exacerbated by two of the 6 lifts not working. Usual fight for a lift but on the whole most people were accommodating. The balcony is very small but they all are so no difference for an accessible one. Must say the crew were excellent and nothing was any trouble for them. On summary I would say this cabin was second to the NCL Getaway cabin 12886 which was slightly bigger than this one. Lots of storage shelves and cupboards and the plugs are uk with one us socket (primarily for the hair-dryer). If you have any more questions, please shout up. Regards Daz.

Hi Captain Tim
If you come across a lovely lady called Dizzy in her wheelchair and her devoted mum Bette say hello from Darren and Louise. It was they who got us to cruise a few years ago. Great reading your blog as we are coming back on her next November. Happy cruising. Daz and Lou.
