Not sure if this is a problem with Flightease or is it just too soon?  Today is the first day you can book travel on April 23, 2024.  Flights come up and I'm able to select, and go through all the steps to confirm, but on the last confirmation I get ERROR:

    • We are unable to process your request. Please try again later or call us at the number listed on the page for assistance.

I have done this twice today with the same result.  The first time I even received a text from United that my phone number would be used for flight updates.  Has Flightease worked for others today?

I've received that message for days, and the same thing several months ago.  No idea how anyone gets through to them.

  2. Hoping you change your mind about seeking a "stranger" as a cruise companion. Too dangerous in my opinion.

Years ago, when I did several transatlantic, you wouldn’t know who you’d be sleeping with until you got to your cabin, and then you had to decide who got the upper and who the lower bunk. Always worked out fine.

  3. I'm so happy t hear you are recovering from you accident and that you received such excellent care. I assume from the following:

Every time the cabin stewards and concierges saw me, they asked if I was feeling better, did I need anything. The next day the concierges sent me a fruit plate. I guess they noticed that I was always taking a dish of fruit at the lounge in mornings and wanted me to have my favorite snack without a trip to the lounge."

that you were in a Neptune Suite since the concierges were so familiar with your routine. Just wondering if anyone who has not been in a Neptune Suite were able to get this wonderful service. I don't fault the concierges for their care, just wondering what someone who is not in a Neptune Suite would be able to get care.

I was not in a suite, but was very impressed by the attention I received several years ago on the Statendam after my foot went into a sand crab hole on a South Pacific island. My stewards came by every 30 minutes or so to see if I needed anything and bring me fresh ice for my badly swollen foot and ankle, and showed their concern even when I started limping around again. They’re just the best!!!!!

  4. "He" should be delighted spending time with you.. also.. walk the promenade.. bring a few new games and puzzles.. join trivia.. go to happy hour.. attend a wine tasting.. chat with other cruisers.... invite them for a cocktail.. watch the stars.. read a book.. catch up on CNN.. dance at BB Kings.. enjoy breakfast in bed.. go to a show.. research a tour.. plan your next cruise.. catch classical music with Adagio., or pop tunes at Billboard.. take a ship tour.. decorate your cabin door... join your meet and greet... watch a movie in room.. watch a movie in the theatre.. experience a sunset or sunrise.. order room service.. enjoy a specialty restaurant... try caviar.. bring along a flameless candle and remember your first date.. send photos to loved ones.. take a dip in the pool.. enjoy the hot tub., chat with your cabin stewards.. waiters.. bartenders.. learn about their culture and who they are.. write a blog of your cruise experience.. take pictures.. enjoy long evening meals meeting other cruisers.. take the art tour on the ship.. do some shopping in the gift shop., go to ship lectures.. watch the aft camera.. have a special coffee in the crows nest.. check the New York Times archives available.. have some ice cream.. pen a diary of your cruise.. get a massage.. if you are worrying about what "he" will do.. maybe better to have him plan another agenda for the same length of time and he can worry about what you will do... hope you have a happy trip..,

  5. Nobody should be wearing their robe out in public, even at the pool. They're meant to be worn in the cabin only! Take a swimwear cover-up for the pool and especially if going into the buffet. Seriously, would you wear your bathrobe to McDonalds?

I love to get up during the night, throw on my robe, and go for a walk on the deck.

  6. The free market concept : a willing buyer and a willing seller agreeing on a price -- clearly the best (only) way to establish a fair price - is scary to a lot of people who cannot accept the idea that perhaps they are not entitled to something just because they want it.

I'm doing an 80-day cruise, as a single, this year. It takes me to places I want to see, I have the time and the money, so why not. My question was never how much would it cost, but is this a trip I want to take. I'm retired and deserve this.

  7. I with you on that. I never even think about using a coffee maker in a hotel room. Who knows whats been in it or how well its been cleaned. Nope.

Something else I need to worry about. Never entered my mind that there might be something lurking in a coffee maker, and I'm still here and healthy after 100s of hotel rooms over the years.

  8. We were on Crystal Symphony, on embarkation in Long Beach, in the days when private cars and taxis could drive right up to the ship. The gangway was raised, and the ropes were about to ge released, when the whole process reversed itself, and the gangway lowered.

Evidently, a gentleman onboard had appealed desperately to the reception desk, to hold the ship because had forgotten his required medication. He told them his driver was on the way with it.

The Captain was notified, and he agreed. As we watched from the de k, a huge, black luxury car came speeding up to gangway. A man in livery jumped out with a paper bag in his hand. He gave it to a security officer, and the gangway was raised, and we cast off.

We learned the rest of the story at dinner one night at the Doctor's table. As they placed the bag on the conveyer belt to go through x-ray, the bag burst open, and the vital medication was ******! (Evidently, that name brand male pill is censored on Cruise Critic.)

Doctor can lose his license for that.

  9. I love sea days! There's mini golf. Large chess set. Food. Pools. And people watching is so fun especially because I'm sober and most of them are not. It's one of the joys of an alcoholic

  10. I did a lot of solo traveling all over the world during my 20s, including several transatlantic sailings. I now only do long cruises, and have met some great, interesting and fun people. On my next cruise I'll turn 73, and plan to continue solo travel, not only on ships, as long as I can.

  11. I have heard nothing but good things about the horseback riding at HMC. People I've talked to who have done it say it's amazing.

    Roz

It is. HMC was the last stop of a 45-day cruise and I didn't want to go there, just wanted to get home. I LOVED the place.
