We were in 5131 last summer in Alaska. We did occasionally hear a bit of music from the theater, but it was not super loud and only when there was a particularly loud song.   The shows were typically over before we went to bed so it didn't interrupt our sleep.

Overall, we loved the cabin and the Legend. The extended balcony was fantastic, and the location was convenient.

I think you got a great deal for that upgrade!!!

    (And War Eagle!!!)

    War Eagle!!

We got back last Sunday and the room was great!  Only boise was when we went to bed early and the shows were going on.  The AC didn't well and they tried to fix it three times.  Ended up putting a fan in our room which helped.

  2. Got an upgrade offer from a 4K inside to an extended balcony on deck 5 (5131) for $299 total.  I jumped on it but now i'm worried about noise from the theater.

Can anyone that's sailed in this stateroom before let me know their experience?  I stayed in a room over the disco once and it was a nightmare scenario that id rather not re-live.

  3. Been on the Pride (sister ship) twice, Legend once before and sailing in three weeks on the legend again.  Great ship!

First sea day the lido seemed crowded as all ships do then the rest of the week it was almost like we had the ship to ourselves.

No 4d theater or ropes course or any of the new bells and whistles but great none the less.

    You'll have a great time.

  4. Carnival destiny "Night Owl"  interior.

Price was incredibly cheap.  About $650 for the two of us for a 5 day including fees.  Directly above the disco.  We thought we would be up partying most nights and it wouldn't be a problem.  They played music all night until 5 am some mornings!!! 😡We didn't sleep the entire trip.  One night we went up to the lido with a blanket and slept on a lounger.

I guess you get what you pay for.

Cruising the Conquest on Oct 12.  Going to Grand Turk, SanJuan, St Thomas, and Amber Cove. I thought I read somewhere, that one of these ports offers a Duck Tour.  That's a tour vehicle, that travels both on land and water.  Did I dream this, or is there such a tour available?

We're on the same sailing! see y'all there (sorry, I dont know the answer to your question 😉)

If you are taking a 4 night cruise I would say you don't need a Specialty dining evening. The food on NCLnis good and dinner in the MDRs could easily impress for the duration on such a short cruise.

Do the marathon the drink upgrade. Take what fees and decide how many of the extras drinks you need to order daily for at least break even.

The flight is a use it or don't perk. Miami seems to offer food options for free or reduced fares  so try it, if value isn't there, book your own.

The promotion they re offering is a specialty dining package and upgrade to premium drink package.  Only charge is the service charge.

You need convincing to take a cruise????? 😉

-Extra charge dining venues.....I've liked all of them.  Probably a toss-up between Cagney's and LaCucina as to which ones I like best.  Oh....what the heck....throw Tepanyaki in with them, too.

-I'm happy with the drinks that come in the "perk" drink package.  I'm mostly a beer and bourbon lover.  They have plenty of both to choose from.

-I'd probably forego the NCL flight perk.  Never used it, but from what I've read, it's 50-50 as to the prospect of it putting stress on your to/from travel days. I was on Escape about 5-6 weeks ago.  I know by NOT choosing the flight perk, I saved $100 off my fare.  Don't know if they're still doing that or not, though.

Sky is a smaller and older NCL ship.  The good news, NCL really takes good care of their ships.  I sailed the GEM last year (also an older/smaller NCL ship) and it was extremely well taken care of and clean.

Have fun.  I think you're really going to like your NCL experience.

I don't ever need convincing to take a cruise. 😁  I just like to research and figure every detail out before making my final choice.  Its between this and an ALl inclusive in Cancun.

Thank you for your advice! Im leaning on booking my flight separate just for the fact i like to be in control of as much as possible.

PS - What WAS the "Big Red Boat", btw?

The Big Red Boat was absolutely the largest ship i had ever seen in my life!!! (in the early 90's) My first ever cruise.  At 38,000 GT it now seems like a life boat for the giant ships now sailing.

  9. My wife and I are wanting to go on a short, adults only, trip while the kids stay at grandmas house.  We are non novice cruisers by any means.   We are platinum on Carnival, sailed RCCL twice and even sailed on Premier's Big Red Boat (showing my age).   We are just searching for a change of pace quick getaway since the other lines can get repetitive if siled too often.

We are looking at a short 4 day out of Miami on NCL Sky and don't know much about NCL other than what our friends have told us.   We've been on larger ships and smaller ships and the smaller ones actually work better for us so the size shouldn't be an issue.   I just have a couple of questions:

    1.  Are the extra charge dining venues worth it? the rate can come with a dining package.  is this every night?

    2. is it worth upgrading to the premium plus drink package when its open bar for everyone?

    3.  I've searched about flights thru NCL only to find conflicting information, do the flights leave the same day as embarkation?

    4. If i decline the "free" included flight is there any money to be saved?

    4.  How is the entertainment on the SKY?  Lots of reviews for all the new ones but hard to find recent ones for SKY

    Thanks!

  10. We have mainly sailed Carnival in the past with one RCI back in 2007 mostly because of the pricing.  (I am very cheap).

Our Carnival cruise seemed to be getting repetitious as we were cruising twice a year.   The Platinum perks while aren't spectacular we do enjoy priority boarding, shorter lines, priority Tendering etc.

This year the price for the Liberty of the Seas out of galveston was too good to pass up.   Really looking forward to the change of pace although we are starting at the bottom with Royal and will have to wait in line with the masses  😱

  11. I would pick Conquest. This class of ship just seems to be the right size. We've sailed Breeze, Dream and they felt crowded.

Sailed Conquest, Liberty, and Glory (sister ships) and enjoyed every ship tremendously.

Breeze is newer and has more bells and whistles but there are also a lot more people. We found that we had to show up 30-45 mins early for any show, movie, event or we couldn't find a seat.

  12. We went to an all inclusive on a day pass. pretty good day i must say. I think it was called The Reef Yucatan.

Beach wasn't all that great but the pools were nice and the waiters kept your drinks full.

Food was pretty good as well.
