  1. What's so special about Mobile? Is there anything to do there

Mobile is a beautiful historic city with a great deal to see and do. Just a few attractions within a 5 mile radius of the terminal are Fort Conde, the brand new GulfQuest Maritime Museum (http://www.gulfquest.org), the USS Alabama (http://www.ussalabama.com), IMAX/Gulf Coast Exploreum, Mobile Carnival Museum (http://www.mobilecarnivalmuseum.com), and numerous historic museums are located downtown Mobile, plus much much more.

  2. While I think this is a great idea, right now it is a proposed decision and while it does look like it will happen it has not been finalized. Here is John's actual post...

"I had a call with the beards yesterday and one of the things we spoke about was a topic that when I spoke about it here had 1000 plus replies. The subject was at what time we should close the doors of the dining room when people come late for assigned seating. It seems that we are going to start being tougher with this and excluding unexpected difficulties a guest may have resulting in being late, the Maitre D’s will at 20 minutes after the dining room being open kindly invite the guests to enjoy Lido. The CDs will have to communicate this in the Funtimes as well.

Anyway, before a final decision is made I wanted to ask you if you think a 20 minute cut off is OK?"

  3. I'm from Alabama as well, and this is just another example of why most of the world thinks of us as uneducated rednecks. These are the same people you see on the national news after a tornado, or other natural disaster that have one tooth in their head, wearing a wife beater, making comments like "I was drinking my beer and the next thing I knew the tornado just blew my trailer away". :p I can say it, it's my state, and I still love it.

GET DRESSED TO GO IN PUBLIC!

I know right, I cringe every time they get ready to interview anyone. Alabama born and raised, so like you I can talk about it. :D

Sorry OP for high jacking this small portion of the thread, now back to the regular scheduled program.....

  4. I have seen some at breakfast in PJ's and no robe on both Carnival and RCI so I guess I have to appreciate those that do put the robes on. I would never go to the buffet wearing a robe and will always get dressed and at least put on a hat to cover up that bed head if I don't feel like completely doing my hair yet. I have seen them around the pool areas too.

I think the only appropriate place for a robe is in the spa area. It isn't just cruise ships, I also saw people in PJ's in a hotel breakfast area on a recent trip but they were mostly teens and kids but not all of them:cool:.

Not sure what part of Mobile you are from but I have seen this at the Walmart on the Beltline and the one Tillman's Corner.:D

  5. Ooooooo NOT my favorite. I've tried a couple and they are all pretty ugly tasting. I haven't met anyone who has liked it, so I'm surprised it's still out there on the market. I guess someone likes it, huh?

But to answer your question, it's wine, you can carry it on as long as it's 750 ml or under.

My mother loves it, me not so much. But, if you mix it with some milk it kinda taste like a White Russian, I can drink it that way.

  6. :)

I plan on buying the Cheers program for my upcoming 7 day cruise.

    My question is this:

Will I be charged for the full 7 days, including disembarkation day? Obviously I wouldn't be using it on the last day.

I am trying to calculate the cost and wondered if it would be x6 days or x7 days.

Good question. I plan on getting it on my upcoming cruise but I do not want to pay for the last day since I will be getting off the ship early that morning.

Nevermind bigdog answered it above, yep if you count the days it is only 7. :-)

  7. Doing a very quick Google search this does not appear to be a Carnival thing it is a cruise industry wide thing and has been occurring for years. If you are to become angry become angry at Spain and not the cruising industry. It appears this charge is added to any cruise (regardless of company) that departs from Spain.
