So if it's category I4, then it would appear while there is room there's no bed to join. NCL would have to bring in a rollaway which I'm not sure they have or do. The built in furniture in the room would make it pretty tight.

You might have already seen this video but if not I thought it gave a pretty good visual of the entire suite.

It'll be very interesting to hear what your travel agent finds out. Please post when they get back to you.

Thanks for this, I think I've watched ALL the videos at this point! The reason I was even wondering is because in the comments section on of the videos people asked a similar question and the TA implied that it would probably be possible, but so far I haven't come across anyone saying they actually did it themselves.  My TA got back to me and said we could certainly request a second bed, even if it was just a rollaway, but obviously it's not guaranteed.  I actually wouldn't mind sleeping on the top bunk, just trying to get all of information I can before making a decision.

Thanks again, I appreciate your help!

Here is a picture of the second bedroom in a Concierge Family suite. The top bunk is hidden in the ceiling until the room steward lowers it for you.

My 5ft 10 inch 24 yr old sons shared this room and were perfectly comfortable in the bunks.

The room steward put the bunk back into the ceiling the second day when making up the room. If you don't want it put back up each day you have to tell them or it gets locked back into the ceiling.  We had to ask to leave it down at all times so it could be relaxed on anytime throughout the day.

I know it's been quite some time now since this cruise, but I'm curious - it looks like there could possibly be enough room to request a second twin be brought in and configured next to the first twin to create a queen. I wonder if you heard about this being an option.

  3. I have watched several videos, reviewed pictures, and conducted web searches but am coming up short on an answer...

Has anyone stayed in an interior 2-bedroom family suite on the Joy? These were called concierge suites previously.  If you stayed in this suite type, can you tell me if the second bedroom that has a standard configuration of one twin bed and a pull down bunk can also be configured to have two twin beds pushed together to create a queen?  It appears there would be enough room to do this, but I am looking for definitive information.  I posed the question to my travel agent as well but am awaiting her response.

    Thanks!

  4. I'm flying in to FLL in September for a cruise in Miami. We're a group of four. I researched several options, and staying overnight in FLL (near the airport since it's late and hotels are cheaper) then taking an Uber the next day appears to be the best option, even with needing an UberXL to accommodate luggage. I also like that this will offer us the most flexibility (do not need to have a specific pick up time).

  5. I have contacted restaurants that I was thinking about visiting and confirmed they would be open. I also asked if they could tell me would some of the stores be open. The answer was yes. I obviously recognize that it's a holiday, but there will still be a few things to do and see. And since not everything will be open, there should be fewer people around, making it easier to navigate. I visited Hamilton on a Sunday when fewer things are open and it was very pleasant.

  6. I've done a lot of research on the subject. Public transportation will run on a Sunday schedule but you can still expect that a good number of stores and restaurants will still be open in Hamilton.

  7. The Star was awesome in the Baltics up on the upstairs balcony sailing into Stockholm. I've got some great pictures from that trip!

You likely would have gotten all of the promotions in place at the time you booked. Not sure about service charges and if you've already pre-paid if they would adjust up accordingly.

I'd call back and see if you can still take the deal. That was a pretty sweet deal you got. Considering the admittedly lower rate you got when you booked, they offered the deal they offered. They are not going to give it away. NCL would rather it sail empty.

I immediately regret not taking it... It was just hard to look at it from the perspective of nearly doubling our original cost, even though most of our other cruises have been more in that $1500 to $2000 per person range. I'll try again and see what happens.

  8. When you take upsell you do not get all the promotions but 1800.00 per person for OS was a score

    Sorry you didn't take it

Darn, I knew it! I'll try again between now and my sail date and see what happens. We're traveling with another couple and got adjoining rooms and of course liked the price, so if it doesn't work out I'm still happy with what we've got, especially for the price.

  9. I called the upsell dept today and they offered an OS on the Dawn for $750 more per person. I'm currently booked in an OB (Mid-Ship Oceanview Picture Window) and paid only about $1050 per person (including taxes, fees and service charges for UBP and UDP). $750 more per person feels like a lot of money considering our current rate was already pretty low, so I declined. But now I'm having non-buyer's remorse! I feel like paying $1800 a person for the OS is a good deal (we had an OS on a previous trip with friends. There were six of us in the cabin and it still cost $1,200 each without any promotional packages).

Does anyone know, if I had taken the upsell, would I have received all of the promotions currently being offered (i.e. UBP, UDP, wifi, and daily service charges)? If so, I'm really thinking I should have taken the deal since we haven't paid the daily service charges yet, bringing the net cost of upgrading down by about $200. Maybe I'll try calling again tomorrow and see if it's still available or if another category opened up.

Does anyone have advice? Thanks in advance!

  10. I recently used the MyVegas for the 50% off cruise (as the 50% applied to the all 3 of us in the room it was a good deal and we found an cruise we wanted that it worked for). When you redeem, they give you a phone number. Your travel agent can call that number and give them the information. Something to keep in mind is that you may not be able to combine it with other deals. I couldn't use my C&A discount for the 50% off.

JackieKE, How does the 50% off your cruise work? Is it actually 50% off the current rate, or is it 50% off the original price? The original prices are usually much higher than any sales that are going on, so I'm wondering if the 50% off is on top of whatever sales are taking place when you go to redeem the reward.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

  11. Sorry for the delay - but here's an update on what happened:

I decided to take the advice Chris gave me to wait a little longer to see if there were any more price drops. Today the inside cabin price dropped $200 per person from $899 to $699 and the ocean view remained at $799. I emailed my travel agent and asked her what, if any options were available after final payment had been made. I decided to not make any demands or have any expectations, just let her tell me what was possible. She got back to me and said that I could either take the upgrade to the ocean view or a $400 OBC! I gladly accepted the OBC since we were happy with the location of our inside cabin and my husband prefers to sleep in complete darkness. The verandas are all sold out for this cruise, otherwise I would have maybe waited another week or two to see if the price on those went down at all for a possible upgrade.

Anyway, thanks all for your input - it really helped!

  12. I am booked on an Alaskan Cruise for which I paid $899 pp for an inside cabin. I just made my final payment a couple of weeks ago (cruise is 68 days away). Today I see that the price for an ocean view cabin has dropped to $799 pp. Should I be able to "upgrade" from an inside cabin to an ocean view and receive $200 in OBC? I am going to contact my TA, but before I do I'd like to try to find out if this is a reasonable request.

    Thanks,

    Ashley

  13. I am thinking about booking a cruise under the current Freestyle Choice promotion. There would be four of us sharing a suite. I have cruised NCL a few times, but not since they started offering the UBP. If we book under this promotion, two of us will get the UBP for free and the other two get just the soda package. Does anyone know if the value of the soda package can be applied to the cost to get the UBP for the other two people?

    Thanks!

  14. Has anyone had a couples massage in one of the VIP treatment rooms? I booked a couples hot stone massage for my upcoming cruise on the Breeze, and I am wondering whether my husband and I will also be able to use the jacuzzi tub in the room or if it is only for other treatments?

If we are able to use it, is their time before or after the massage itself to use it? Is our 75 minute massage actually 75 minutes long, or does this include time to relax in the tub?

    Thanks!

  15. I have been looking for more reviews on this excursion too and there really aren't very many. Here is the description for the excursion from Carnival's site. 16. Steve, This is how I typically have gone about checking for a drop in price. The difference this time is I happened to find a lower price for the same category (in this case it was 4s) but it was on the Travelocity website. It was listed lower on Travelocity, but not on Carnival. My problem was trying to compare my booked rate to a rate on any other site than Carnival's, which I am not surprised is not allowed, but I think their form is a little confusing when it asks to know where/what site you found the lower rate. I was able to email back and forth with with a Carnival rep and suggested they do something to make this more clear. I'm happy with the price I paid, but less is always better of course! Oh well... fingers crossed that there is still a drop in my future in the next 40 days!

  17. I have booked early saver several times and have always been able to put in a claim and get on board credit when I see a reduced fare on the Carnival site. However, I thought that if a lower rate was found on another site that Carnival would also honor it (thus, why on the price protection form they ask where you found the lower rate and the website it was found on). I just submitted a claim because Travelocity has rates listed lower than my current rate. However, it was rejected with the claim that the "rate is higher than my current rate." I am going to follow up with Carnival, as I have a screenshot that shows the rate is in fact lower, but I'm wondering if it is because it was on another site and in fact I can only compare using Carnival's site?

Hopefully that made some sense to someone!

    Thanks,

    Ashley

  18. Was looking at the Carnival website today and noticed a drop in fare prices. I have an interior cabin on deck 8 booked that cost $1,477.94. However, interior Cloud 9 Spa cabins are on sale for only $1,321.56. I was not able to book an early saver rate, and I have already made my final payment. If I call will Carnival let me "upgrade" my cabin and give me the difference in price as on board credit?

I have booked early save rates before and have gotten credit that way. I have also upgraded my cabin after final payment time but by paying more money than what I had originally paid.

I'm going to try to call in a little while to find out either way, but any advice beforehand would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
