  1. I know if you cancel your cruise within so many days, that you do not get a refund.

my question is :  what if you are a no show.

    1. will you get any refund of port charges ?   2. will you still receive your credit of days towards

your voyagers membership status.  inorder to keep your status active. ? thanks ..

  2. love your review...thank you ....

we were on the divina in 2017 and loved it.  we too were matched from RCCL diamond to black card.

we are thinking of sailing again on the Divina in the future.

one question i have is....in the sports lounge, do they still offer appetizers at no cost.  we liked being

able to go in to the sports bar and enjoy the apps with a few drinks.

also...what apps were offered.  hoping they kept them all....!

    thank you

  3. Do you make a reservation with them way in advance? How do you schedule them to be at the ship at a certain time for disembarkation and back to FLL airport?

    here is the link: https://www.qualitylimoservice.com

we flew into fort laurderdale airport the night before and stayed at one of the hotels they had listed as a pick up. they arrived at the hotel early while we were checking out. made 1 stop at another nearby hotel and then we were off to the port.

on the morning of disembark, they called us to confirm when we would be getting off the ship. we told them we were just going for breakfast and they said, thats ok, just call when you are ready. originally we had scheduled a certain time for pick up, but we called as we were getting off the ship, and asked for a early pick up time. there was a shuttle near by and picked up us within 10 mins of wait time.

it was our first time on msc and was not sure of the debark time, since we did self disembark, so we were glad we were able to get the shuttle earlier than planned. then back to the fort laurderdale airport. would definitely go thru them again....

  4. thanks for all the information. all though i still need to read thru all the posts, i have a question:

we just got off the divina and really loved it. looking at a cruise on the seaside next october. i tried looking

thru the decks and could not find the sports bar. just wondering if they have one. we really enjoyed the sports bar on the divina and really enjoyed the food there, so....does anyone know if there is a sports bar and will they still be serving their yummy apps.

  5. We are diamond members on RCCL and did the status match. it matched us to the Black Card on MSC.

friends are wondering what level they would be. does anyone know if there is a chart to show this or can you just post if you did do the status match, what cruise line and level you were and what level you became on MSC. thanks

  6. We are Diamond + on RCCL. Just went on our first MSC cruise 2 weeks ago on Meravigilia. We will be back on Seaside in Jan 2018. DH and I liked MSC. We will cruise again with RCCL ONLY to keep our status (I believe we have to do one cruise with them every 36 months).

Beautiful ship. Can' beat the price. We like that we can pick the type of cabin and experience we want, and pay for what we want.

We typically travel with my mother and our young daughter.

What do your teens/college age children on RCCL that maybe unique to RCCL

Don't forget to get your status matched!

been on RCCL many times and don't recall the policy being that you need to sail on them once every 36 months or you will loose your status. ? is this something new. only cruise line i know with that policy is msc.

  7. wonderful post...so much information !! thank you !

    quick question:

we are leaving on the divina in a couple of weeks.

we did not pre pay our gratuities,

I keep reading about anything charged on board will be paid thru a bank in France, so I was

thinking about setting up the on board account with cash. I am not really sure how that works, do you put on a certain amount and how / when do they refund the balance if any.

If I call MSC now, and pre pay gratuities and also add a internet pkg, will the charge now be paid in US funds or is it too late.

I saw on their web site, that I can purchase the interest pkg and also add obc, just wanted to know if that would be charged in US funds now or once on board thru the France bank.

thank you for all the information. so very helpful !!!

  8. love your review. we are seriously thinking of doing a MSC cruise for a while now....and now I know we are going.

    question:

    in your post...you state:

We had no intention of getting off the ship but after we received our daily program with the tourist warning on the front, that killed any idea of changing our minds.

what was going on in port? did they give any details. was that Nassau ?

  9. Love HAL.

Holland America was my very first cruise back in the 80's. Was on the old Statendam and cruised to Alaska. HAL is first class all the way.

Was just on Zuierdam in November and HAL is still one of my favorites.

Even though we are Diamond on RCCL, I will take HAL any day.

We can drive to the port in Baltimore, which makes it much easier to take RCCL or Carnival...but..., we are now checking out other cruises on HAL and also MSC (due to their matching status).

    you will Love HAL....

  10. If you switch from gold to platinum during the cruise do you get a platinum card at the begining of the cruise.

Sent from my LGMS631 using Forums mobile app

no.....you will be gold for the whole cruise. your points to not add on until after the cruise. only line I know that will give it to you for your current cruise ahead of completing the cruise is Carnival.

  11. We didn't walk to the top, which seems to be what you're asking, but we did walk to the entrance to the Skyride (tramway) and took the tram up to the top. That was a 10 minute walk (we were walking fast since we did want beach time afterwards). It's $21.00 for adults (anyone over 13), but we got our tickets through the ship, so they were $19.00. It's definitely worth the price. Beautiful views. Attaching a picture from our ship with an arrow pointing at the entrance. From the picture, you can tell how much of a hike you'll have if you're wanting to walk to the top by yourself.

is the cost of 21.00 for a roundtrip ? was there much to do up on the top. and how long of a wait to get back down.

  12. ok...here is the recipe I use to make the RCCL...Cranberry Raisin Almond Strietzel Bread.

pretty close....try it and let me know what you think.....

RCCL Cranberry Raisin Almond Strietzel Bread

    2 pkg yeast

    1 tablespoon sugar

    ½ cup warm water

2 lbs all purpose flour approx.. ( 6 2/3 cups)

    ¼ teaspoon salt

    ½ cup milk

    4 eggs

    ½ cup butter , softened (1 stick)

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    ½ cup golden raisins

    ½ cup dried cranberries

    Topping:

    ½ cup water

    1 egg yolk, beaten

    ¾ cup silvered almonds

Preheat oven to 400 ( I did later, once the bread raised)

Grease a baking sheet lightly with butter

Combine yeast, sugar and ½ cup of warm water in mixer bowl and let sit for around 10 mins

Add flour, salt, milk, eggs, butter, vanilla to mixing bowl containing the yeast mixture.

Mix all ingredients for dough for 2 mins at slow, then 6 mins at fast speed.

Add raisins and dried cranberries and mix 2 mins more

Rest the dough covered for 20 min or so ( I put close to 190 oven for heat)

Punch down and divide dough into 2 – 1lb loaves.

Cover and allow to rise again.

Cut each loaf into 3 equal pieces. Roll each piece by hand into a long 12-20 inch strip.

    Braid the 3 pieces together.

Place the braided loaves on the buttered baking sheet, cover and let rise again ( I place on parchment paper sprayed w/ non stick spray)

Combine ½ water with 1 beaten egg yolk and brush the braided loaves.

Brush a second time with the egg wash and spinkle with silvered almonds

Bake 400 for 20-22 mins or golden brown

If you can find the sugar sucre grain or you can use crushed sugar cubes for topping too

  13. cruizinlady1947:

Here is the recipe for the breakfast raisin/cranberry bread. I asked the Chef on the Grandeur for the recipe. He sent it to my cabin and the recipe was for 37 loaves. Someone was kind enough to break it down to one loaf. I hope it works out right.

    ....love...love...love this bread.

the chef did the same for me. i asked at dinner one night and the next night, he gave us a whole loaf with our dinner along with the recipe.

    i was in heaven...

i also broke down the recipe...will have to check mine and see how close i came. ..lol

i do make it and its really...really..good.

  14. I had heard about Glass Beach, but didn't realize how close to the dockyard it was. On our first day at Bermuda we heard some people say they tried to find it but couldn't, another couple confirmed that it was nearby. Today was our last day in Bermuda we had to be on the ship by 11:30 AM, that meant we had to do stuff nearby. We ordered early morning room service at 6:00 am and ate a light breakfast. Our plan was to walk to glass beach and then to Snorkel Park. There were very few people out this early in the morning but we asked a local working at the dockyard about glass beach. He told us, it's withing walking distance and told us to head over the bridge and head towards the lone grey tower. There are 3 turquoise buildings along the road and Glass Beach is right behind there

thanks for the info, we had been to bermuda a few times, and i have always wanted to go there. didn't realize it was that close.

we are leaving for bermuda on sunday and I am hoping to make it there.
