We also will never sail on the Vista again.  They took a gamble on the forward theater re-design and failed miserably.  The space tries to be too many things...lounge during the day, theater at night and dance club late-night.  The floor is sloped because of the theater seating, but when all the chairs are moved out of way, the central part of the room becomes the dance floor.  Have you ever tried dancing on an un-level floor? And because of all the chair-moving that needs to take place regularly, they made them small and lighter (and very uncomfortable to sit in for a lengthy show).  John Heald happened to be on our Vista sailing, and he said himself to our group in the theater, "Carnival needs to do better."

I think the theater and atrium are the biggest downers on the Vista. I will be sailing her again in May but we booked the Havana area, which we've had twice before. Honestly, we pretty much hang out there all day. We did have one minor complaint and that was a few of the "fun staff" members. Sometimes, they just weren't that "fun". One example was when we were playing a cornhole tournament and he moved the boards to be really far apart, around 36 feet or so. It was so far many people couldn't reach the boards and when I told him they were too far apart and that according to the American Cornhole Association it's 27 feet and 24 for amateurs he got really mad and told me basically to mind my own business and he was in charge. Of course then we all started to laugh because a lot of people didn't know there was really an American Cornhole Association, and we ended up having a really good time by throwing the bags overhand versus underhand, and laughing really hard. Sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do.

  2. In addition to the bracelet, a sticker is placed on your card and until they get to know you it must be shown prior to entering. And yes, we watched as two women were told to leave who insisted they could be there because they were Diamond class. Nope! And honestly, it makes me mad when people try to sneak in because I paid double price of what my balcony usually costs just to have the private area free of small children. It isn't that I don't like kids but being on the lido deck with swarms of children in the hot tub having pickle fights....well, lets just say I just value my kid free zone and it's worth every penny to me.

I've booked a Havana Cabana Cabin for our cruise this January. So excited about this cabin category. I think it looks social, fun and so near the Havana area, that it's going to be well worth it. I would be surprised if the Horizon doesn't have more of this cabin type on its deck plan. They sell out fast, and I haven't heard any complaints about them yet.

We have a Havana Cabana for our January cruise as well. We did this last year and really enjoyed walking out of our room right into the pool area. They also had coffee, juice, and a few breakfast items at the ocean plaza in the mornings. Absolutely love it and I don't mind our patio is open. In fact, we made good friends with the next door cabin.

  4. We were on the Breeze last year for the final three games of the Cleveland/Chicago games. While I'm sure they were elsewhere on the ship, we thoroughly enjoyed the crowd watching the games at the Red Frog Pub. There was a couple who were HUGE Chicago fans and they were so much fun! I'm hoping for Dodgers/Astros this year and we will be on the Vista this time.

As a platinum cruiser you can take up to 5 fellow passengers with you. There is no need to get a ticket, go to Guest Services and they will walk you down the stairs to load the tender.

    .

Sweet I didn't know that. We have a private excursion planned and wanted off. Thank you!

  6. I've never gotten a tender ticket before. I'm just wondering because I am an early riser and would like to go and get a ticket for my daughter and her husband who are staying in a different cabin. I am platinum so I don't need one.

  7. I'm wondering if a Double crown and coke would be considered one or two drinks? I ask because that is why we never ordered the Cheers program because only the single shot of Crown was allowed and my DH always drinks doubles. If so, would people start ordering doubles or triples thinking these to be under the $50?

  8. We will be on the Dream in May. I am looking for reviews of The Top Ten at Montego Bay Jamaica. I heard taxi service can hit or miss and it is safer to book Carnival. This is the only Carnival excursion going to Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville. We have 3 kids ages 8 to 14. We would like them to enjoy the beach, slides, etc. Does a this excursion allow you time to enjoy Margaritaville? Is this excursion fun? Any other suggestions?

This excursion does not stop at Margaritaville. We took it last year while on the Magic. We stopped at a straw market, church, and ate at Scothies. We drove right past it. Taxi's are safe as long as they are JUTA and always negotiate prior to getting in. There is also a hop on hop off bus that drops people off in that area.

  9. I printed mine this morning for our October cruise and it didn't have the "all in one" option, so we have separate boarding passes. I thought it was just me for some reason so they are either having some sort of a glitch or maybe they are changing their policy. I prefer the all in one myself.

  10. This October will be our fourth time on the Magic and we always stay on deck 7 near the aft. We prefer that area because you don't look down onto deck 5 directly. It is also three floors up to the lido/aft area and two floors down to the Promenade. That way we don't use the elevators as much.

If you are that concerned I bet you could get your room changed.

  11. Quick question, we are considering doing this tour and was wondering about the time. We have FTTF and can get off the ship with the first tender. Is the "tour" found in the port area or do we have to meet the tour group on the ship and get off with them?

I was only asking because I've never been and at other ports there are "Carnival" excursion areas at the port. I was really hoping to have 30 minutes or so before the tour started to check out the port area.

    Thanks!

  12. I only went on one cruise in August and we will not go again during peak times. It isn't that I don't like children, but I dislike the lack of supervision that seems to be inevitable on these cruises. During this particular cruise I was knocked down by a large teenage boy running through the casino, waited for elevators that were filled with children "pushing buttons", and when I asked a child to please quit doing cannonballs in the hot tub, I was yelled at by a rather inebriated woman daring to speak to her child! There were other incidents as well, just as there were also very polite, positive, well behaved children.

Did this ruin my cruise.....no way! Is there anything CCL could do about it? Probably not, so I choose to sail at times where the younger crowd is limited. Halloween is my favorite.

  13. AWESOME!. There is a social media group that starts with face that has a huge group of people on the May 11th sailing. just type in Carnival 5/11/2014 and it should pop right up! I just want to have a fish bowl right now, just thinking about Red Frog!!!!

    Already on! Love that group.

I think I am going to buy a spa pass for this trip as well. I've never been but it looks good.
