  1. While on NCL Breakaway, my husband encountered pain in his leg, back and foot due to neuropathy. We were informed that acupuncture might remedy this. My husband encountered several treatments which cost in excess of $600. We submitted our claim to AON book safe insurance purchased from NCL. And also submitted the claim to Medicare, our primary, as instructed by AON. Medicare denied the claim and when we submitted the claim to AON, they denied the claim, on the basis that treatment was not ordered by a physician. We assumed that the acupuncturist was a Dr.

Previously when my husband needed accupuncture on NCL, under Travel Guard, the treatment was covered.

Please advise if there is anything we can do..

  2. Hi Arzeena,

You will have a great time on your Panama Canal cruise! Would love to do one of those. Definitely in my bucket list but DH hates flying. I might just have to do it without him LOL!

There were some postings about the Star, which seemed pretty accurate. Just go back a few posts.

    Best,

Lita, booked the Breakaway July 20th to Bermuda. Please get Dias e-mail address for me.

  3. My experience with the way the upgrade certificates work, is you book the cabin and category that you want. Then you send in the upgrade certificate and NCL credits your account for the difference of the cost of the category below and your cabin. This is not good for all categories, so when you book check to see if your category is included. As I recall Mini suites and Suites may not be included. Check your upgrade certificates and see if there is anything on the back for terms and conditions. The Certificates that I recently received $500 and i upgrade don't look like any other certificate I received in the past. They look like a statement printout not a certificate. Then you send in any $ amount certificates, so they can credit it to your balance. Be sure to send either return receipt requested or FED Ex, and leep a copy so you have proof. Then check 2 weeks later to make sure that it has been received and is being credited.

  4. Just a couple of quick questions. I booked a cruise online today with a TA. Made the deposit of $500, with the final payment due in June. I plan on using 3 $500 certificates.

I'd like to go ahead and make final payment with my NCL credit card before the end of this year so I can earn 4% back. If I make the final payment before the end of this year, then in January when I receive my 3 $500 certificates mail them in, will my credit card be refunded $1500? Or do the certificates need to be sent in BEFORE final payment is due? Has anyone gotten their card credited for certificates mailed in after you have already made the final payment?

Also, when I go to mail the certificates in, do I mail them to the NCL accounting department, or do I send them to my TA? I'd feel more comfortable with everything going smoothly dealing directly with NCL and I assume the TA after getting them from me just have to forward them to NCL on my behalf.

Certificates should be miled in prior to final payment or as final payment. They will not credit your credit card. YOu might be able to negotiate some sort of shipboard credit but I doubt if it would be $1,500. I generally fed ex my certificates to the addres on the back and then check in a week to see if payment was credited.

  5. But if they send the certificate back to you, does that mean you have to book another cruise within a year or do you have to sail within a year??

NCL can either hold the certificates or mail them back, but you must sail by the expiration date on the certificate. I just had that experience, where I had NCL mail me the certificates, but I had to sail by March, so we booked 2/6 on the Gem and since we booked late, I FED EXed the certificated back to NCL. Had I let them hold the certificates, they would have been immediately credited my account for the payment.

  6. Thanks for the advice. We are going here in Feb. on the Norwegian Sun, but the shore excursions still are not listed for Guatemala.

My neighbors are from Guatemala, I'm sure they are familiar with the rum you mentioned. We have quite a number around the DC/MD/VA area, so maybe the rum is available here.

I am really looking forward to visiting Guatemala.

Check out the Sun December Shore Excursions, I'm sure they will be the same.

Also check out the private tour with Gus.
