  1. We were on a 10-day cruise on the Enchanted in Feb and they had 3 Chef's Table dinners and still had 75 on the list. We were lucky to get chosen.

We've been fortunate to be chosen 3 times, once on the Sky, once on the Crown and once on the Enchanted.

I was just on the same ship (Ruby Princess) on the same route (California to Hawaii) as I was on in September 2019. On that earlier cruise, the internet was amazing, solid and fairly fast (I did speed tests and saved them). On this cruise, it kept going out, then came back, but always pretty slow. Websites and emails wouldn’t even load.  I was trying to research and purchase a flight home and it was a time consuming and scary exercise, especially when it would go out in the middle of completing the transaction. Something has changed for the worse.

I was on the Ruby 2/25 to 3/12 and the internet was awful.

What a huge letdown after all the planning and anticipation. I have a question regarding masking onboard. Is Princess still providing N95 or KN95 masks to passengers or should I bring a supply of my own? We board Royal Princess in Vancouver on May 2nd. We have the "advantage" of being the first passengers to board this ship since the shutdown so there will be no previously positive passengers already aboard but I'm still wondering about mask availability.

We get our second boosters tomorrow. Hopefully that will also help to mitigate circumstances. Best wishes for the two of you. It might have helped G to weather isolation if he had stockpiled some potato chips.

On the Ruby last month there were two KN95 masks in our cabin when we boarded and they gave us another set the second week of our 15 days.

  4. We were on the Ruby 2/25 to 3/12. We had to have a negative test 2 days prior to boarding. Then we had a test at the dock before we were allowed to board and then had another one two days later. I am surprised they were so laxed for the return sailing to SF. They did drop the mask mandate on 3/1, but the casino required masks all the time and there was no smoking in the casino the whole 15 days.

So Stop Using it. If people stop using their flawed APP they will have to rethink the whole process and do something. I now use the web version the instituted a few weeks ago. See the link under the goggle play box?

I sure hope so.  My wife shared this story with me today. https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/6095/

The CDC are.. well, I don't like to name call.  But I do wonder if they'll be taken to court.  These restrictions are arbitrary and generally this type of regulation won't stand up in court.  I MIGHT, and even then I don't agree, that SOME of the restrictions might make sense if few were vaccinated.  However, the CDC is offering no incentive to be vaccinated on the ship.  Maybe I missed that?  I hope so, but I tried to find it and couldn't.

What is the CDC's issue?  There reputation is going further south by the minute.  And not just about cruising.

Florida, Alaska and Texas already have a lawsuit and the first hearing is May 12th.

We just receieved a message that our 2022 Alaskan cruise has been changed from the Emerald Princess to the Crown Princess. Can anyone tell me if this is a positive change? Negative? Or are they identical/no differnce?

I have only sailed on the Emerald before. Thanks!

Sailed both ships a few times, both great ships, no reason for concern!

As previously stated, under current circumstances, San Juan is part of the United States and as such falls under the CDC no-sail order.

I realize that, but they no longer leave out of San Juan anyway. Which I why I said IF they ever go back to that.

That bluff could be called fairly easily as such a location doesn't have the infrastructure to support thousands of cruisers coming and going, staying over prior to a cruise, etc.  Princess abandoned San Juan a number of years back as it must not have made economic sense.  We cruised with them out of there twice and although the flight was longer than to FLL, it was cool to be already in the Caribbean and able to get to more places in a week than from FLL (we were pretty much sticking to one-week voyages at that time).

We cruised Princess out of San Juan and loved leaving from there! Would do it again, if they ever go back to it!

I'm on her now. This my 4ty sailing on her and another visit next month. My only tip is..... Enjoy your time onboard. She is elegant and lovely. The production shows are too notch. Rock Opera and 5 Skies in my opinion are legitimately the best shows princess has across the fleet.

We walked out of 5 Skies. It was ridiculous in my humble opinion. We never got the chance to see Rock Opera 😞

  11. Great review and pictures! We were on the Sky the week before you! It was our 12th Princess Cruise. Captain Tuvo was spectacular, our FAVORITE captain by far. He is so personable and always takes the time to speak with guests! His daily messages were a hoot!

Thank you for taking the time to do this review!

Anyone know if American Airlines participates in EZ Check from Port Everglades (where your luggage goes directly to the airline and your boarding pass is delivered to the stateroom)?

I used this service last year flying out of MIA, and it was super convenient. I think I saw some posts many months ago where American was no longer an option, but I'd appreciate if anyone who has cruised recently could clarify or confirm.

    Thanks!

    Justin

We used it in October for American Airlines.

I have a feeling the answer to this is "no" based on our experience with other lines, but can we use our On Board Credit to book items in advance? Like for ship excursions? On other lines, you could only use the OBC to book excursions on the ship, which meant that you take your chances that the excursions you want will be sold out if you wait until after boarding to book.  Also wonder if you can use the OBC to book the beverage or coffee packages, again, do you have to wait till you're on board? Because aren't they cheaper if you book them prior to boarding? Same with the internet package--if we want to use our OBC do we have to do it on board, and if so, isn't it more expensive that way?

You can use it to book excursions.
