  1. I saw one post from a passenger on the crossing now that the food was better than in past cruises. Its no secret that the food quality and preparation has been sliding downhill for many years......would love to hear from a few of you on the crossing, how the food compares to other RC cruises you have been on...thanks much

  2. Thanks, for the pictures. The balcony cabin shown looks Spartan--no bells & whistle.

My reaction as well...as in sterile..not only the cabin you mention but the stairwells as well and other areas.... Now I know I will get trashed for not being all gaga about what I see so far...but I know what I see and what I see is frankly disappointing....no warmth. While it was mentioned in another thread, and I should have known this before I booked, the ship is supposedly designed for a colder climate. Some of us are very disappointed in the small amount of open deck space for 4000 passengers..as its no larger than the outdoor space on ships even below the Explorer class. Of course never will anywhere close to that amount want to watch pool games or get more skin sun damage, but the open deck space is pathetic. If its 15 degrees when I leave home and in a couple days its 85 and sunny, I'd like to be in the tropical sunshine....duh...that's why we go there. The Northstar is a gimmick and if I wanted bumper cars I'd go to Hershey Park. Spending allot of time under "ceilings" or sitting on top of BigBilly from the Bronx with his e-reader while inhaling the fragrant chlorine, misses the mark. I love RC so I take no pleasure in being critical.

  3. I too am on the 12/1 sailing....Im scheduled for most things now after many failed attempts... but I have to say that all of this scheduling has not made me a happy cruiser.....when I go on vacation I just want to go and escape the rat race we all live in day in day out.....this pre-work for dining and entertainment is frankly a pita....yes I know its supposed to make things logistically more efficient on board......we shall see

  4. Ive not been on Oasis sized ships so the only other larger ship Ive been on is the Explorer. In looking at the photos posted here from different people, it looks as though the main pool area is no larger than a much smaller ship. I know there is the solarium and I believe another outdoor pool near the bow, but on a warm, sea day, where most everyone is outside and usually near the main pool area, it seems the pool area is really not very big for 4200 people.

Obviously it is what it is but just wondering if any of you have this perception of the outdoor spaces being too small due to the other bells and whistles this ship has on the upper decks.

  5. Does anyone know if the Evergreen Trio is still regularly performing on RC ships? I saw them a couple of times a few years ago on ships out of Baltimore......awesome sound from 2 musicians and an excellent singer. As a musician who drifted away from playing over the years, their use of new keyboard technology actually inspired me to upgrade my equipment and start playing again......I sat for hours and watched them....some would say cheezy lounge type music.....but of all the bands Ive heard on cruise ships, they are on top of the heap imho....thanks if you know where they are...
