  1. I’ve used it numerous times on flights daily all I had to do was show my VeriFLY pass. However, for tomorrow I am all good to go. But my mom reaches the final stage and gets system error. We have tried for days even opened a support ticket……ugh. No reply yet. Cruise is tomorrow.

  2. wrong. not rubbish at all. service members are being targeted for robbery and worse. the drug cartels are getting bolder in a few areas.

That's BS I live one island away from Cozumel and we had one murder in 5 years and it involved drugs.

Stay away from the drugs and border towns and you are fine. Mexico is larger then Texas, California, and Alaska combined. So if there a shootout, earthquake or a hurricane it usually 1000 miles away.

But they say it still safe to visit Chicago where 100 get shot a week. Open a map before you spread garbage.

  3. I live one island over from Cozumel on isla mujeres. We did not feel anything from the earthquake on the other side of the country. You have to remember the tourist $$$ that is generated in Cozumel and the government is not going to let that be affected.

  4. Sh1035, that was an interesting article - I guess Carnival won't make any money off of me when I come on board. Even though I booked as a a solo, I don't drink alcohol or gamble, so that will wipe out most of the onboard spending. I've been using the discounted Carnival gift cards to pay for the cruise and shore excursions (minimum 10% discount), and on top of that, I just invoked the best price guarantee on one of the shore excursions I booked, so technically Carnival is giving me OBC for money I never spent due to using discounted gift cards.

Trust me tidecat they make it up from people like me that also travel solo, drink, gamble and sometimes Book a solo suite. But life's to short to $itch about what you don't have......while your on a cruise??? Short from being stranded in the middle of the ocean for 6 months I can't complain? Do they charge gratuities then?

  5. The budgeted amount for the average mass market cruise line for food it $13 bucks per day. I've only been to Denny's a couple of times but think an omelette, sides and a drink will cost you about 13. Keep in mind the budget expects an average passenger to pay $1800 pp for cruise and onboard spending. Anything less then that and obviously your food budget decreases.

I know many of cruisers who book the cheapest inside, never hit the casino and spa, and them complain about their $5 buck dinner.....that they ordered 3 of.

If your not happy try one of the luxury lines it's that easy to fix. But complaining your filet stunk at golden coral is pointless.

  6. Walking down the hallways and looking into some rooms they need 4x a day.

But it just 2 of us, we hang our towels up, put all trash away, etc. so once a day is fine, just give us ice and the fun times. If anyone naps we make the bed up anyway since nowhere else to sit since she thinks the couch is for her crap.

Not sure what the moaning is all about???

  7. I'm a fan of carnival but after looking at the intenerary I had to go with HAL. Why even stop at a port from 7-1 or 2? What not cut off a port and give us more time in the others? Then yet the end it's only a pit stop in Victoria. I would of never had the orca experience I had.

But glad you enjoyed it and it was amazing. Plus I saved money with HAL and was a nice upgraded change.

  8. Thanks everyone for your advice. I can't believe they don't have an option to even buy a 6 pack of cokes pre cruise. I bought my dew and some water but not sure if I want to drag that on. I need to assist my mom just in case (she almost 80 and claims she has issues) but she walks the beach and swims daily if she's not working on her PH.D.

Also, my mom likes playing dress up so bringing the jacket will make her happy. My sisters owe me one but at least separate balcony cabins. I'm 50 yo and refuse to share a room with my mom 😃

Panama Canal here we come...one more thing off the bucket list!

  9. You can bring as much soda as you wish as well as unlimited bottles of water.

You can 'get by' with dress pants, shirt with collar, polo shirt and dress shoes.

'Gala Nights' call for jacket and tie for gentlemen but HAL has relaxed their requirement considerably and many are saying a shirt and tie or jacket without tie is not denying men from being seated in MDR.

Thanks I will try to shove a jacket in my suitcase just in case.however, I only wear a tie if I'm walking out with a check of at least 10k 😊 I want to fit in and not offend anyone. Thanks

  10. Ok it's my first HAL cruise and appears I can't bring my Dew? I'm not cheap, I have the soda card. However, I would prefer not to scare folks if I have to find a soda at 8am. Just like coffee for some it's my go to drink and would even settle on a Coke. But have no option to pre order those as well.

Next question: I've cruised a lot on various lines so can I get by with the usual dress of formal pants, dress shirt or polo, dress shoes?

    Thanks

  11. The payment for extra people is for the soda / snorkel gear / floats. They really don't care how many people are actually in the villa or cabana at a given time.

I've rented both an honestly if any staff ever shows up its just for the excursion ticket. Our power was out most of the day so no hot tub, lights, etc. gave up trying to find anyone to help! I was never over the limit but really didn't matter. The flys ate the fruit and we drank the water. But it's amazing the folks that walk up and use your shower and even head to the bathroom.

But hey mom had a cozy place out of the sun......

  12. Thank you for the information and picture. I remembered when that happened but forgot what happened after that, whether the cruise continued or if St. Maarten was the last stop before San Juan. Did the cruise continue or were people flown home or to San Juan from St. Maarten?

I'm closely watching this current situation as we are scheduled to cruise on Liberty in two weeks, on the 20th. Since we have non refundable plane tickets, we have decided that we'll salvage our vacation and fly down to San Juan as scheduled and spend a week there and try to schedule another cruise, on this same itinerary, sometime next year.

No we kept cruising but I feel with liberty the bubble gum fix didn't work. I have been on that ship twice and the last time it vibrated so bad in the aft section I would never go back.

  13. Sad as it is, it's largely a giant welfare state. When I was there in March there was a huge protest against paying local taxes.

Is sad because it's such a beautiful island but few people bother to go see the real island beyond OSJ. You could spend a month there and barely scrape the surface.

But to answer you question you will not notice anything in OSJ.

  14. Happened to me on an A Royal cruise and they offered to pay me $150 if I gave it to them on the ship. Sadly I needed something to bring my stuff home. When I was back they called, offered $120, and called every week to tell me it was on the way. I was a satisfied customer.

BTW it was a spinner wheel and it appears that's the norm.
