Here's the slide, complete with a trip right through people's balcony.

Good to know if I book this ship to avoid those balconies! Otherwise, I like the ultramodern look and since I live about 1.5 hours north of Cape Canaveral may try to jump on before it moves if I can find a deal. Thanks for sharing!

  2. We are going on this itinerary in March, our first with Virgin and our first cruise in a few years! Also our first time cruising with friends and they are new to cruising so lots of firsts! Really excited for and appreciative of your review to get a better idea of what the 8 night itinerary will be like. I read your Scarlet Lady review and it was so entertaining!

Enjoy K-dam! She's a beautiful ship with an excellent crew! Only negative (for the crew member, not for us) so far is that one of the male dancers/cast members got injured while performing during the early show last Thursday which automatically cancelled the late show that evening. Here's hoping he is able to recover to full strength!

Sorry to hear about the injury. I also hope the dancer is well soon, both for his sake and because I do enjoy watching the shows with dancing the most!

  4. We are also sailing Koningsdam Wednesday! Your trip looks wonderful so far and I’m quite jealous that I’ve been toiling away instead of relaxing at sea. Thank you for sharing the trip; it’s helped keep me excited and pushing through these last few nights at work!

Most times you can pick your cabin (from what is open of course) when you do an upsell/upgrade.  Just ask the person you are talking to when upselling.  Sometimes they forget to tell you that you have this option, so be sure to ASK.

Thank you, but I wouldn’t pay the price they were asking no matter where the room was! Original stateroom is guarantee so, of course, I did not choose it, but I will love it for several hundred less per person!

  6. Are you serious??? You have got to be joking what an irresponsible thing to say.

Have you had any of the mozzi based infections, obviously not!

Spray spray and spray has having had both Dengue and Chikungunya the last thing you want to get is Zika which has similar symptoms.

Even if you are not pregnant etc etc try and avoid as it can takes weeks to come 100% right.

Zika has been transmitted in Southern Florida (and should be presumed in the whole state), Texas, Mexico, and the entirety of Caribbean, Central, and South America. Zika has MUCH milder symptoms than Chikungunya or Dengue thankfully, but it is possible to get both of these more serious diseases as well. Insect repellent is your best bet (we love our Thermacells) and the CDC has recommended caution or avoidance of these areas if you are pregnant or planning on getting pregnant in next six months.

All that said, as a physician living in Florida and a female of potentially childbearing age, I get asked this often. What I tell friends and family is not to be any more worried about traveling than you would have before Zika unless you fall in the pregnant or planning to become pregnant category, in which case I would not come this far south.

ETA: blairknill, sorry that you have had both Dengue and Chikungunya. Terrible luck and horrible diseases! I'm glad it sounds like you have recovered fully.
