  1. Fellow Cruisers,

I am trying 2 get used 2 this new format.

How many have signed up for our meeting for Muster?  The last time i could actually "see" names was a few wks ago. What is the tally now?

Also, I believe we need @ least 25 for the Officer's Meet & Greet on Sunday....are we there yet??

Slow pull,,,lots of fun in the casino...i did this yrs ago & was fun 2 do with out group. Any interest???

  2. Oh My (and what kind of countertop do you have?)! The thing about Perry Grant is that he plays well to an audience that likes to hear pretty much the same thing every show. We enjoyed Perry the first couple of times we were at his performances, but then realized that nothing ever changes. We did not return for a third show, but suspect we could tell you exactly what happened at that show and every show since :). But there is no question that he is somewhat of an "institution at sea." With the "new Celebrity" we suspect the question might be "does Perry's audience buy enough drinks to justify his existence. Oh, and somebody needs to tell Perry that "Granite" is no longer "in."

I have seen Perry's shows numerous times. The man never fails to entertain the crowd with his numerous jokes & silly observations about life. His comment about granite tops, stainless steel refrigerators etc are merely a way to get the audience to laugh. I do love his selection of music & he is so enthusiastic to please the passengers who come to see him. As far as the so called heckling when you try to leave, that is merely his style & everyone who knows Perry, just laughs about it. Truly, I never saw anyone get upset with his antics. Plus he has a great voice, selection of tunes & various funny hats ..all of which makes him a "one of a kind" pianist/entertainer. Yes, you might call me a die hard fan; but I was hooked the first time that I saw him..Sailormateforyou (Sally)

  3. 300 people is less than 20% of the passenges

As previously written, I attended Perry's shows @ evening while on my l4 day Eclipse cruise. I would like to point out that as a "single", I too miss a dance venue...and herein lies my suggestion. The Qsar lounge is ALWAYS empty..I can see that as an appropriate dance area if X changes the decor, does whatever with the DJ and have contemporay dancing there. This is my 2nd cruise (first on Equinox) & on both cruises, the Qusar "disco" lounge was empty. Let's face it, X does not cater to the younger or single groups, so why not make this a place for couples to dance instead of or in addtion to the foyer? It makes no sense to criticize Perry because he is in the Sky Lounge just because you don't prefer his type of entertainment. He must be doing something right as many seniors are thumping their feet, singing along & clapping, smiling, etc to his tunes. Get a grip!!!!!! Sailormateforyou:)

  4. I just came off a 2 wk Southern Caribbean Cruise on The Eclipse. I could not wait to hear Perry sing and watch his gala performance. Wow,this man is talented! His fans were there in abundance cheering him on; laughing and there was fun and much engagement on Perry's part. He certainly knows how to keep his audience coming back for me. I was him every nite for two weeks @ the late show & a couple of times for the early show. He made my cruise a wonderful memory. I even bought his CD & listen to his voice & it brings me back to those lat nite shows with Perry @ the keyboard, singing, engaing with the audience by using some of his most unusual props..The man is just wonderful and a defintite asset to Celebrity. I would cruise again on Celebrity if I was certain that he would be playing on the keys. He is wonderful for the age group that loves the old tunes...he brings back those happy memories. Celebrity, please keep Perry as he is an asset & is a wonderful performer for the 50+ age group. Ok everyone : POSITIONS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  5. Still have my formica...might get sprayed again :) :p

Perry is definately not for everyone but he sure is for me. I haven't laughed that much in a long time' date=' or stayed up that late on a cruise. We were introduced to him last Feb on Connie and he saved the entertainment experience for me on the ship. Looking forward to it!! I knew he was concerned about the size of Michael's Club on Eclipse (being smaller than on Connie) so I guess that is why he is in a larger venue.

I would expect those who love to dance will have the opportunity.[/quote']

Perry is one of a kind & I am happy for that. I met Perry for the first time on this cruise (the l4 day southern caribbean Eclipse). This man is so very talented with an unsual sense of humor which draws people out. He is very engaging, talented, a fine piano player/singer/musician. He has an innate sense of timing with his jokes & comments. The audience was so entertained by him and all were laughing & singing along. Quite frankly, he made this the most memorable part of my cruise experience. I purchased his latest CD & now have him home to listen to. His keen sense of timing & use of appropriate props while engaging with individuals set him apart as the most memorable musician/entertainer who really knows the fine art of working a room. It is quite evident that he loves his profession & his patrons love him too. I am now a Perry fan who lookds forward to another voyage with him..Sailormateforyou (sally;)

  6. We are off the Eclipse today. We are dancers and were very disappointed to find the Sky Lounge occupied nearly every night by either Perry Grant or a private party. About the only dancing we found was in the foyer, which is terribly inadequate for dancing.

While I enjoyed the Eclipse the lack of suitable dance floors would prevent us from sailing her again. We have enjoyed WOODEN dance floors on most of the other ships we have sailed along with a variety of dance music in different locations in the evening. This did not exist on this sailing.

I was on the Equinox last Spring and found vertually only 2 dance areas. One was the disco which was usually empty and an open area on deck 5 (I believe) with a 3-4 piece band playing very conservative music. The dance floor was occupied every nite by a "Fred Astaire" couple that swept across the dance floor every nite. It was lovely to watch for about 5 minutes; but my point is that there iwas very limited dance areas & other music venues for dancing on the Equinox. I will experience the Eclipse 4 wks from now & check out the dance areas. As a single traveller, I am usually limited to the disco which of can be fun if there are other singles present; but usually this is not the case.

As far as Perry is concerned, if he has biting humor & engages his audience, I feel that is a combo that I feel compelled to explore. One needs to be open to experience new types of entertainment; the option is quite simple really: Move on if he is not your "cup of tea". Sailormateforyou

  7. Yes, it can be done that a TA can book a group to see Perry @ the Sky Lounge for 5 nites. Just have to check with either "Guest Relations" or the daily newsletter when he is available to perform for the general public on the ship...Didn't think that a group could do this, but checked with Celebrity & they confirmed this. However, the actual nites could not be confirmed vis the phone to Celebrity. I guess we just have to do a wait & see until we get on the ship & then enquire..I just am so looking forward to seeing him & enjoying myself in the Sky Lounge with "Mr Grant"!!

  8. Maybe not "throngs" of people on your cruise attending his show but guaranteed it will be packed and Perry's fans have known for months of his schedule. No matter, there are many other types of entertainment to enjoy throughout the ship.

Yes, happy to join..I have sailed Celebrity before (equinox)...& never heard of Perry. It was only after a friend told me that I MUST SEE HIM on this sailing that I started to investigate further. From what I understand, he is quite talented and has a hugh following. As he has a longstanding following,I would imagine the guy appeals to some. I most certainly am looking for different entertainment onboard & Perry seems to fit the bill.

    Five wks from now....Sailormateforyou (Sally)

  9. I just have to ask - just who is Perry Grant, what makes him so special or maybe not - lol as I see there are some "not fans" out there too. Fill those of us in who have never seen him please.

I have never seen this entertainer. It appears that there are no shades of grey here with those sailing on the Eclipse in March..I am extremely curious about seeing him perform. Have a feeling that I am going to love his biting wit, etc. Its interesting to experience a non-main stream performer..a bid edgy and why not? After all, we are on this cruise to have fun!!!! Sailormateforyou (Sally) Cheers--a little over 5 wks to sail
