  1. With the change to once a day service is it safe to assume they are not turning the couch back and forth during the day? Meaning that if you are cruising with enough people to need the couch bed that you essentially have just the couch bed the whole trip and no couch during the day?

  2. I had a similar offer and took it.  I’ve never been in a cove and am looking forward to it! For me, it was about the proximity to the water and the shaded balcony.

For those who have sailed in these before, and have been under the galley, was there much noticeable/disturbing noise?

  3. An interesting topic as I imagine there are a range of views.  I think it relates to what “kind” of cruiser you are.  If you are a cruiser who loves to sunbathe and be by the pool, I can definitely see how that will be a problem for you.

With that being said, I cruise from NY year round on one line or another, and so long as they position the right ship there (meaning it has to have a least one covered pool) I find it to be a great time, and very convenient/economical for those of us in New England.

I am very excited that Carnival is taking this step along with MSC.  I know NCL has been doing it, but they’re missing that key component of having the covered pool area on several of the ships they position out of NY.

    Anyway, just my $.02

  4. Hi Cruise Critics,

Does anyone have any pictures/info on the 1A rooms on Venezia/Firenze yet?

I imagine that they are very similar to Vista/Horizon/Panorama and like the extra room they provide, but figured I would check and see if anyone has any experience with these rooms before I book.

    Thank you in advance!

That is good news, although WP was not usually much of a wait, like regular NCL calls.  But my question is whether you get to select your cabin or is it just assigned.  I’m fussy about room.  I would hope they still have the option to speak to a customer service rep.  I did just go to BOA and it says “ now available online, or cal ### to redeem.   Good news.

I just did this (on a single meta upgrade) and just got an updated confirmation in my e-mail a few days later.  I did ultimately call and spoke to an agent, so I think you will always retain the ability to talk to an agent.

    Hopefully that helps!

That won't work.  Poster should be happy they even allowed a GTY booking. Upgrades are based on availability and apparently there was none.  I assume poster is leaving soon.

Yes, leaving March 12th…spring break week for many colleges.

I am actually fine with a GTY.  I am maybe in the minority, but I enjoy the gamble of a GTY and have gotten some pretty good room assignments in my experience.

I knew you could redeem for OBC, etc, but I’ve never know you to be able to do upgrades online.  Does the menu let you request a cabin or does it assign you a random cabin?

It doesn’t let you request a cabin.  I got an e-mail confirmation a couple days later with a GTY cabin, but then checked and saw that was all that was available for booking online.

I am not aware it can be done via the website.  I have always called the WP # 866-954-4077. Before you call look at the deck plans and make yourself a list of cabins that suit your needs and also a list of not acceptable cabins.    It varies at times, for reasons unknown to man, but at times they will try to assign you a room, often times a not great location, other times everything is peachy and you can select your own.  If they try and assign you one, just hang up and call back in hopes of getting a nicer representative.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes, you can redeem on BoA website.  You have to put in your confirmation number, sail date, etc.

I’m assuming it’s just a form that sends the response to a human somewhere to process, and with the holidays it will probably be delayed.

If I don’t hear anything by the end of next week I’ll call the number you listed.

    Thanks again!

  9. Hi All,

I've tried to search this thread, but has anyone used the online tool to request the category upgrades?

I filled out the form today (after randomly noticing a good chunk of my points are expiring in one day) and was wondering if anyone had experience with this method versus calling?

Ideally, I'd like to know how long it was before you received confirmation of the upgrade.  I have confirmation from BoA, but none from NCL.

    Thanks!

I’ve never tried upgrading before but I got the offer today and I was curious to check it out. I have a club balcony and I was only interested in upgrading it to a spa balcony, but it only allows me to bid on Haven rooms. Does that mean the spa balconies are sold out?

No, it means that your Club Balcony is technically a higher category than the spa balcony.  The system only allows you to place bids on higher categories.

I would have originally said that they don't ever drop the minimum bid amounts, but they did just that for my upcoming Norwegian Joy sailing.

Without the red text, I would not have known the minimum was lowered.

    Never say never, I guess.

Is your cruise on November 18th?

Just curious as to why they chose that date.

  12. Great conversations here, saved me a call to NCL.

Personally, I find the use of “LATDBLX” a bit confusing, as it made me think it was double the points (meaning two total per night in a regular room, not three as the promotion implies).  “DBL” makes me think double, not “two additional”

I was going to call and make sure but this threat makes me feel better!

I noticed on the Dailies something about Swift and getting things delivered to your stateroom. Is this something new?  Previously drinks could be ordered but were not included under the beverage plan. Has something changed?

I saw this and was wondering as well.

I can’t seem to find any information on it either.

Please read the CDC order carefully. The requirement for certification that the passengers have no pre-existing medical conditions putting them at a high risk for COVID-19 is for the simulated voyages that must be undertaken prior to the cruise line applying for a Conditional Sailing Certificate. It is not at this time a requirement for actual passenger cruises.

    You’re right! I went back and re-read.

    Thanks for pointing that out.
