  1. We have been to Bermuda a dozen times and have to say that Clearwater Beach was our least favorite. Don’t skip Horseshoe...just walk further down with your towels away from the crowds.

I’ve seen the salt and snow rooms but not much detail given.  Are they extra or included ?   Is there an age limit (traveling with 15 daughter)

The spa pass is $219 per person for a 7 day sailing and it's adults only. I believe 18 and over. Sorry 😞

    Hello,

We will be on the Escape in Jan. We are traveling with our DD and her hubby and two children 3&14 months. We have adjoining mini-suites. I am just looking for any must see areas of the ship. This is my first mega ship experience. I was hesitant about booking such a big ship, but the itinerary was amazing. So where are all the best kept secret places hubby and I can visit to have some time alone? I am so excited! 90 days 🙂

Really not much of a secret, but I'd make sure to try and sneak in a few spa days so that you can enjoy the heated loungers, the therapy pool, the salt room, saunas, steam an snow room and the panoramic sea vies. She's a gorgeous ship ..just got back today from a week on board.

  4. We are sailing 9/23 on the Getaway this weekend. Finally received notice yesterday ~72 hrs before embarkation that we were upgraded to a B2 balcony from an IB inside! Our bid was in the poor range but the ship definitely had a good number of rooms left, likely due to hurricane season in the Caribbean. Super happy as it would have cost triple what we paid to get the upgrade outright

It would be very helpful if you told us your bid amount!

  5. The taxi rate from the Dockyard to Clearwater is going to run about $75 plus tip to get there and another $75 plus tip to return for that hour cab. Some may not think it is worth it to spend over $150 to take a taxi to and from the Dockyard. I don’t. A less expensive option but more complicated way is to take the ferry to St. George’s and then either a taxi, a shuttle or a bus to Clearwater and back.

This is really good to know. Thanks for the info. Any idea what a taxi will cost from St. George's?

  6. Just adding something else to the good info given above. If you plan to continue to cruise NCL and get more comped cruises through CAS, look at picking up CruiseNext certificates. Their net cost is half of the $250 it is worth towards your CAS fees of $20 per person per day. If you are comped a Balcony or above, at the present time you can use two of the 250 certificates towards your fees if you book 6 months or more in advance. We always put 500 of certificates (our cost 250) towards the next cruise.

If you cruise more than once a year and play in the casino onboard it isn't too hard to reach a higher Tier status with CAS. These give you guaranteed OBC (onboard credit) plus some other perks. Their club year for earning Tier status goes from April 1st to March 31st.

We are now Platinum Plus with NCL and Ruby with CAS cruising four times per year.

Heading out for the next cruise tomorrow morning:cool:

This is great info. We are sailing on our first comped CAS cruise in October. If we hadn't called, we never would have known that we were eligible! In any case, we booked during a tax-free week and only had to pay tax and the administrative fee of $280 ($20/day x 7days x 2 people)/ We applied 1 of our 2 cruise next certificates and the out of pocket cost was $30!

  7. Your deal looks like the best. How can we get it? Kindly provide more information.

If you are a frequent player in the casino on any of the ships, you may qualify for either a discounted or free cruise. Some players are contacted directly via mail or email promos (we were not!) and others find out when they call Casinos at Sea (877 752-9625) and ask. You will need to provide them with your passenger number. If you and your significant other are both players, provide them with both numbers, as they will combine play for qualification purposes. Hope this helps!

  8. I guest my best deal is coming up. CAS comped us an oceanview cabin on the Oct 14th Escape sailing. Administrative fees came to $280 for us both and I paid using my CruiseNext certificate. My total was $30 because I booked it during a tax free promo. Let's see how much it actually winds up costing us!!

How do you all find out the great deals on upcoming cruises? Would love some tips!

  9. I feel like I should know the answer to this but I keep second guessing myself. When we booked our next cruise we were able to take advantage of the 3rd and 4th passenger offer. This is no longer offered for our sailing.

I know if you bid to upgrade the upgrade/bid cost is only for the first two passengers. Also, you keep whatever promos you have but do not get additional that may come with the new cabin, if applicable (ie: if you have the UBP, you keep UBP, etc). Does the same hold true for the 3rd and 4th passenger offer if it is no longer an option for new bookings? Or would we see some additional fee for our daughter (3rd passenger) if we bid and won an upgrade?

The upgrade charge only applies to 1st and 2nd passengers. 3rd & 4th would still be free but make sure that you are bidding on a category that will accommodate 4 people!

  10. I am on that sailing! What category are you hoping to upgrade from/to? As for receiving the invite, I have gotten one for both my cruises so far. It seems like those who don't receive them are booked through TAs that don't participate in the program. If you booked directly through NCL, you should receive one for sure.

We are booked through CAS so we should get one although I heard it’s arbitrary. We got an email for our Gem Cruise last Feb and successfully upgraded from a balcony to a forward facing penthouse suite. This time all I want is a balcony. We booked an ocean view.

  11. You didn't feel like you missed out because of the balcony being so small? We had a forward facing penthouse on the Jade last year before it went to dry dock and the balcony was HUGE! We spent time out there because we felt we were wasting it if we didn't' date=' but I'm wondering if that's the one thing we'll miss. You didn't miss it at all?[/quote']

We had the same room on the Gem this past February. Most amazing balcony ever and I lived out there. It was perfect for an 11 nt Cruise to the Caribbean.

  12. Yes, we had a great cruise and a great cabin, a forward penthouse suite, the balcony has to be the best ever and we loved it. I only posted because I wanted to correct the inaccurate information about "pending" and "processing"

Isn’t that the most amazing balcony you’ve ever seen? I don’t know how I’ll be able to go back to a traditional balcony room!

  13. Does the original price paid for a cabin have any bearing on the chances of a successful upgrade bid?

In other words if you paid less for your cabin then someone else did, would you have to bid more then them .

There are all kinds of theories and so many variables, I think it’s impossible to know. With that said, we did win an upgrade on the President’s Week Gem Sailing. We went from a BA to an SF (forward facing penthouse suite) for $640/pp. Found out about 5 days before. Good luck!

  14. Been on several NCL ships but my favorite is the Gem. Have sailed in everything from an inside to Haven 2BR Penthouse but my most favorite cabin was the forward facing penthouse suite that we spent the 11 night Gem sailing in. The balcony was HUGE.. you could seriously fit about 15 people out there..loved it for so many reasons including the fact that I never ever went to the pool deck. Butler delivered us lunch out there almost every sea day..it was heaven for me!
