We did the "train to Florence" excursion through the ship. We were escorted to Cathedral Square and were left on our own to explore Florence..It was an 8 1/2 hour day. We later met up with the escort and returned to the train to take us back to the ship. We really enjoyed our day,

Would there be any demographic information for the cruise ships? Trying to determine the best itinerary for our next trip. i know depending on the time of year could change things up.
Why don't you first choose the itinerary you really want and go from there. We have been on many cruises with multiple "demographics" and always had a good time. In fact we were seated in the MDR with a World War II veteran and had a wonderful time. He told us many great stories about serving in France. Don't worry so much, a cruise is what you make of it.

We are in cabin 1102 for our upcoming cruise from Boston to Fort Lauderdale on October 20. We love aft cabins and this will be our 3rd time. We were on the Radiance to Hawaii last fall in cabin 9660. Great spot to relax and watch the ship's wake.

We just returned from a transatlantic on board the Serenade. There were so many Diamond guests that the Safari Lounge was private for Diamond members between 5:30 and 8:30. There is a "special" drink menu for this happy hour. In other words, no Absolute vodka or top shelf alcohol, But the bartenders get creative and can make a great chocolate martini. :D

Thank you for a great review. We are booked on her next September for her repositioning back to Boston. Been looking forward to a Trans-Atlantic for a long time. The Brilliance sounds like a beautiful ship.

We had a port balcony on deck 9 aft and didn't miss a thing..great views and didn't have to fight for elbow room at the rails.

38 days till boarding the Adventure of the Seas!
Yipee! :) :) -
We were on the Ruby Princess last October and did this excursion. Princess charged $75.00 each. It was a nice excursion, but just not $75.00 worth.
-
You don't even get a gift at the Meet & Greet on Princess. Nor do you get any food.

My friend and I took this tour from the Ruby Princess last fall. Unfortunately, we didn't have such great weather as most of the climb was moist and foggy. We thought it was going to be an easy climb...Like you said, "What's a 1,000 feet"! Wrong! But it was so worth it. I can't remember the excursion cost but we did visit the cameo shop and Pompeii. Must be a "cruise ship" package excursion.
Love your review...keep it coming!

We are cruising on the AOS out of Southampton to the Canary Islands the end of September this year. So looking forward to this "bucket list" cruise. This will be our 18th cruise, but not just on Royal..Carnival and Princess too. The food and the entertainment are not our top priority in cruising, it's the ports and the adventure of seeing new places and making new friends around the world.
So, stop complaining and just appreciate that you can afford to cruise.

We were on the " Allure" last Spring and during the Q & A, we asked the question about life jackets in our cabin and were told that the ship had one for each passenger assigned to that particular muster station. Out of 18 cruises, this was the first that we didn't get a one in our cabin. Maybe to some people it's no big deal, but to us it was.
-
To KarinaGW...to correct you, there were NOT life jackets in our cabin. Not above the hangers, below the hangers or out on the balcony! :)
-
You just don't get a life jacket in your cabin...you have to go to your muster station for that.

We are sailing on the Adventure of the Seas on September 28. Although I didn't get any promo e-mail from Royal, I just checked the Royal website to see what the difference in price was from the first time we booked. Today I went down to see my TA and she called Royal. We received $600. EACH off our cruise. How fantastic is that? We didn't have to rebook and we could keep our same cabin.
What a way to start the summer! Yipee!

We enjoyed every meal we had in the MDR on the Allure last May. We had wonderful table mates, so maybe we didn't pay much attention to the food. But if wasn't too good, I think we would have remembered.
We will be on the Adventure of the Seas this September. In the MDR as usual.
-
Robes? Did you ever try just asking for one? We've never had a problem getting them...even when it was the first time with a cruise line.
-
Great review..we are going on the "old girl" the end of September to the Canary Islands out of Southampton. Glad to hear that the food in the MDR is above standard. We are not usually buffet "dinner" and enjoy our MDR experience at the end of the day.
Thanks again for sharing your cruise.

Cruise Director? The only time I see him or her is on the wake-up show. They certainly don't do too much around the ship. At least on the last 2 cruises I was on.
-
We have gone on 17 cruises...Carnival, Royal and Princess...just saying that the Allure embarkation was the longest wait..over an hour...with lots of pushing and shoving. At the time, we were not above Gold status...hence the wait..Now that we're Platinum do you think the wait will be shorter? LOL
Crown and Anchor coupons?
