  1. Music: It’s sets the mood with music almost everywhere, but as it’s also the same homogeneous pop-music every day, it’s actually becomes a nuisance after a few days where you suddenly find yourself looking for a music-free place (and no, not even the library is a silent).

All over the ship the attention to details and design is remarkable, so why not design the music as well? Some very strong suggestions: Turn down the volume the places where people eat (give them a chance to talk), change music in corridors to relaxing and soothing, add some extra class in The Grand with classic music (not modern jazz) and have some quite-zones.

Thanks for writing this review, I'm really looking forward to our cruise now but your comments about the music being all over the ship are concerning me especially as our cruise is 14 nights long. This is not the first time it has been mentioned, in fact I have been reading reviews on Facebook and the subject keeps cropping up. I'm no fuddy-duddy but it is nice to sit and relax in some places on the ship, other than your cabin, that are either music free or where the music is not too loud.

Have any past cruisers on Anthrm or Quantum found that elusive quiet-zone yet?

  2. Hi

Do you mean you are going on a three night and were emailed?

No, we are on a 14 night cruise. Below is a copy of the email I received:

Experience something truly special, hosted exclusively onboard Anthem of the SeasSM, with our brand new Royal Evening beginning on sailings departing from 6 May 2015. This unique event takes place on the second night of your holiday (more often on longer voyages), and will even be attended by the Captain! It’s the perfect opportunity to dress your best, get together with family, friends and other guests, and enjoy an evening of tempting food, fantastic music and incredible entertainment.

As well as a stylish champagne reception in the Royal Esplanade and Via, you’ll be treated to a delectable dinner with exclusive Chef’s Special options at the onboard restaurants. And with a host of exciting entertainment offerings around the ship - including Casino specials and some spectacular live music performances - this truly is an evening like no other, and it's only available onboard Anthem of the SeasSM.

We can't wait to welcome you onboard.

  3. Yup, the 8 night maiden voyage had the taster menu twice completely unannounced. I can see the point of the taster menus on 3 night sampler cruises because you aren't going to be able to try all 4 restaurants.

It will be interesting to see if they keep using them on longer cruises.

It does look as though they will be doing just that according to the email a lot of us received yesterday.

  4. Just back off Anthem, all reservations were in the system, no lines to get into the restaurants and longest dinner was in grande and took an hour and a half.

I heard some complaints about ling wait times in chops but we didnt go there.

Sounds good to me, can't wait!:)

  5. Thank you so much for writing a review. I have been waiting in anticipation to read a full review and yours has not disappointed. I was feeling a bit skeptical after reading all the negatives on Quantum but now I am really looking forward to our cruise in September. Hope you enjoy your cruise on Harmony, we hope to be sailing on her either the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017.

  6. Also take no notice of the Royal IQ app. I looked on it to see places to go for lunch and saw American Icon lunch menu and fancied the burger as burgers in windjammer are not nice so got changed only to find its not open for lunches. So much misunderstanding!!

Were you on the 3 night cruise? Possibly that may be why it was not open because you had no sea days.

  7.

Wouldn't like even if it was only used once, since that wasn't the original idea of Dynamic Dining - at least they should then email the information before the cruise, so people could adjust their reservations if needed.

I agree. But as we don't sail until September I'm expecting it to all change again by then!! ;)

  8. Thanks for clarification. Doesn´t sound very good. We have made the bookings based on menus and seems that now the whole Dynamic Dining has been completely trashed. Neither has been any information send to the booked passengers.

Maitre D and guest relations will have a quite a lot things to explain. We will have 12 day cruise - but have already made all planning between complimentary and speciality restaurants - complimentary ones based on menu.

At the moment it looks as though on a 12 night cruise you might only have these menus twice. That's what happened on the maiden voyage which was 8 nights.

  9. But it is anyway a same sampler for all 4 restaurants? So meaning that in Silk, you can't choose from full Silk list - but have also items from Grande, American Icon and Chic included?

Yes, I have seen the 3 different menus on Facebook, which are made up of dishes from each of the complimentary restaurants. How many nights are you sailing?

  10. So they had the same sampler menu two nights in a row? That wasn't the way how the Dynamic Dining was sold to us when we booked the cruise. They could at least inform passengers before.

Might end up in quite interesting situations in the restaurant.

No, it's a different menu each night.

"Therefore, and in order for all of our valued guests to have the opportunity to sample dishes from all of the dynamic dining restaurants, a special menu has been introduced for the 3 nights sailing's, which includes several of the most popular dishes from each of the dynamic dining restaurants. There will be a different menu for each night of the sailing."

  11. QUOTE...

Ok here's our experience live from Anthem, we eat in Jamie's last night, prepaid cover charge of £30.50 was honoured by the restaurant. (£15.25 each) at the end of the meal you get an invoice / receipt to sign. The amount is zeroed but it's totally itemised your your information. So had we been paying the bill it would have came to $109.00 which is approximately £70.53 ! An amazing £40 more if we had to pay the a la carte rates... Talk is this is Jamie Oliver's team wanting more money for the franchise..

I read that one of the reasons they changed Jamie's to a la carte (and this was said from a waiter to a passenger) was because some diners were ordering lots and lots of courses and then eating little bites and leaving the rest. That is wasteful in my opinion, you see it happening in The Windjammer, so it would seem that these diners could have spoilt it for the rest of us.
