It took forever to get it added as they initially had a conflict with the free air promo...but I added it for our cruise next year...for us it was a no brainer....it's our 25th wedding anniversary cruise and we were planning on upgrading the drink package anyway...the wifi will be slow, but should be enough for us to check on our dog...oh and the kids too I guess...and the extra dining out will be a nice way to celebrate...the shore excursion credit is a nice bonus...

    was able to get this added on today!!! I am so excited! $883 Canadian dollars for those who asked. Totally worth it for us as it’s our 25th wedding anniversary cruise and I want us to really enjoy it, without worrying about the cost of stuff while on board. Now to plan !!!

    I'll be the first to bite - I agree 100% Dave994. I'd much prefer pay a higher rate at the front, knowing the staff is being paid a fair wage. I'll go on the record as saying I know the cruise lines (likely all of them) screw over their employees at every opportunity they get unless it's frankie boy del rio. 

     

    So refreshing to find someone who agrees with me on this. Most people balk at this suggestion and then complain about how poorly the staff are treated.

Just an Update on this......I called yesterday and tried to add this on and at first they said they were able to do it, but it raised the price of my Air by $8000...so the glitch with Free at Sea Plus and the Air Promotion continues....the supervisor agent I am told, filed a ticket to solve the glitch and I was advised to call back in 1 week to see if it has been resolved.....so Yes, apparently they agree I should be able to add it with the Free Air promo, but the glitch is the issue that doesn't seem to be resolved yet....

  5. Why specifically the Steward? Why not little grab bags for the casino dealers? Toiletries for The waitress or waiter at dinner? Perhaps a bag of chocolate for The lovely lady at guest services? The Engineer could probably use socks too and I am sure  The First officer and the Captain would love bags of pork (whatever the heck that is)  Aren’t they all kinda just doing their job? And I say if someone (whoever that is) does something extra ordinary to make your cruise that much more special, give them cash.

  6. I was told by a Chat agent that it is possible...but you may need a supervisor to add it. I also saw someone say that there was a known issue with it and they were working on the coding of the promo to fix it. 

     

    I don't sail until 2023 so we are not in a hurry to add it, but definitely want to when we can. I will try again next week and see how it goes.

    What I think some people are missing out on is that my beef isn't this was slower than land internet (nobody here in this thread had that expectation) - rather it was slower than what they explicitly advertised, which was that it supported streaming e.g. Netflix. Not once in 10 days did Netflix load. And I wasn't the only one that felt that way - multiple guests on the ship who had sailed with NCL and other lines numerous times were also shocked at how bad the internet was.

     

    In conclusion, the learnings are:

     

    1. don't bank on having strong internet, no matter what marketing says

    2. if there's a complaint, resolve it while on-ship 

    3. some people think very narrowly how others should travel

     


    you lose me a bit here. You clearly tried multiple times to get Netflix to work over the 10 days of the cruise. Discussed this failure with other guests to solicit their thoughts and yet not once did you go to guest services to mention this or ask them what could be done about it. You get home and then would like a refund. 
     

    It’s hard to justify that I am sure in their mind, especially since they could tell you that you were logged in and active many times during the cruise.

I had to work with my editor while on a transpacific cruise and found that I could only work effectively early in the morning, late at night, or while most passengers were at dinner in the evening. 

     

    This.....I have used the internet package on Carnival and Celebrity and it's the same thing....I have my first NCL cruise next year and I know what I am getting into when I get the package. I mostly use it for social media and keeping in touch with my friends and family while I am away. Out in the middle of an ocean, WiFi just isn't that great yet....it's better, but I am not sure I would rely on it for work or Netflix. 

     

    That said, early and late when most users are not on it, was always a better time connecting I found.

    Thank you! I confirmed again today via chat that it indeed should be an option even with the air promo, so it really does sound like it’s a glitch in the system that hopefully will be resolved soon.

    Thanks for letting me know . I assume that might be a reason, but it’s been hit and miss it seems as to who can and cannot add this. I will keep trying that’s for sure !

    I know it could end up being an issue but I am willing to wait one day and see if my drink package and wifi upgrade show up. I do have 418 days until my cruise and 298 days until final payment so I have a lot of time.  I read on one of the boards here ( no clue which topic) that someone else upgraded and it took a day to see everything in their account so I am waiting that one day.  I will call and get my confirmation email also if it doesn't magically appear also by tomorrow but I am not in the mood to sit on hold again today. 

    If you were able to get it added with the air promo then you beat the system it seems so I hope you’re correct.

    I do want my confirmation email so if it is not received soon I will have to call and request it.  I book through CAS so I do not know if I can do that through the chat function.

    Come back and let me know then if it all works out. I will be extra frustrated if some people can add it with the air promo and others can’t. Doesn’t seem right or fair.

    You are correct, free at see plus.  The interesting thing is that she said I would get a confirmation email.  It has been over 3 hours and no email.  I can see some updates on my account and the price and my cabin changed, I now have 2 $50 shore excursion credits (actually it shows 3 but I am sure one will disappear), my 2 extra dining shows up but my beverage and internet have not been updated yet.  I also noticed my bogo flight went down from $298 to $249.  I really don't have time to call again today so I am hoping I get an email and don't end up on hold again!

    I would check again and make sure your total amount is correct. I was told by multiple agents it wasn’t possible with the air promo, so I am worried that maybe they are individually upgrading your stuff at full price?
