  1. I just wanted to say I set up all my kids email address for VIFP.  Then when I make bookings, I don't even have to give agent their vifp number as they are all linked to my acct.  If you go into your settings you can set up who normally travels with you and this is where I list my kids.  My kids have been cruising since they were young.  My daughter sailing tomorrow on her own (!), without parental units, will reach platinum level, woo hoo.  Then traveling again with us in Jan along with her brother, who will turn platinum on that sailing.  So just make sure you keep their vifp numbers when you make bookings so that they get credit for it.  Also, if you plan on more sailings, make sure to look into buying Carnival Cruise stock.  We always get $50-100 on board credit.  You only need to buy for one person, like husband or wife as you can only get one credit per cabin.   Daughter purchased her 100 shares last year and tomorrows sailing she will get $50 on board credit as she is sailing under 5 days.

  2. The 8 (or maybe it was 9) day out of SD that included Acapulco was wonderful (Carnival Spirit). I would do that again in a heartbeat.

I also sailed on that itinerary! I loved visiting acalpulco and the 9 days was great. I would do it again too!

Also really happy to sail out of San Diego!!!! woo hoo! But no bueno on the 5 day sailing. Need 7 or more days.

  3. I started sailing with Carnival in 2000 and Princess shortly afterwards. My last cruise was with Carnival Glory in Feb and prior to that Ruby Princess in Nov. 2015. I had so much fun on the Glory! The staff was extremely friendly and engaging. I don't know how they did it, but they always addressed me by my last name. I had been sailing Princess exclusively for the last two years and I thought, I needed a break. I am so glad that I went back to Carnival. Although I have an upcoming Alaska trip on Ruby Princess in August. Princess cruises tends to be more sedate and calming. Carnival just has more "life". Bottom line, all the cruise lines have scaled back, but nothing that takes the pleasure away from cruising. I am platinum level on both cruise lines.

  4. A few years ago the Tea Time on Inspiration was in a small venue, can't remember the lounge name, it was very intimate. Last month on Glory, it was held in the dining room. I still like Tea Time wherever they decide to serve it.

Its a must do for me on a cruise.

  5. I was on the Carnival Glory 1/23 to 2/2. It was also my birthday month. I received the $50 spa credit which I used for the fire and ice pedicure. The fire and ice pedicure is $70. So with the discount, its about the same price as what I would pay back in San Diego. I was also given a $10 gift card for Cherry on Top. Gift certificate is for bulk candy. Pretty good since I used it to buy peanut M&M's and ate them on my travels back home.

First time I have ever received anything and it did make me feel special. The room stewart laid out my birthday cards on the bed in front of the towel animal.

I am platinum level. Although I don't think this matters. I have been usually sailing Princess (platinum as well), but I might cruise Carnival for a bit as I really felt they went out of their way to acknowledge me by name.

By the way the whole cruise was fantastic. It was a Journey cruise.

  6. We started putting kids in separate cabins when they were about 9 years old. Not necessarily across the hall either, but on the same floor. As they got older with the oldest being 15/16, they could even be on different floors. You have to know the responsibility level of your kids before you do something like that though. My kids are seasoned cruisers now, with over 15 sailings now. :)

  7. I was just on the short coastal cruise on Golden Princess in Oct. I didn't even notice how long the show "British Invasion" lasted. Is this true on all ships, that the shows are condensed to 30 minutes??!! This was my first cruise back on Princess after a five year absence. I was sailing Royal and Carnival. I will be very disappointed if this is their new model. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

I have to book a 7 day cruise next year and this would be a bummer if the shows are cut short.

    Thanks!
