  1. I probably already know the answer, but it never hurts to reach out and ask.

How do you book reservations for the Chef's table on the Paradise (one of the no frills ships)? and does it have to be done on board?

Reason I ask is because I would like to arrange for this to happen (if possible) for a gift, but don't want to do so if it is something I have to wait until I'm on board to do in case it ends up being full/unavailable.

    Thanks :)

  2. I almost missed our Cruise Critic meet and greet because all it was, was 1 line in the "what's happening" strip of the Fun Times... It wasn't until someone else pointed it out to me that I noticed it...

To be honest, the coffee/tea and cookies they provided was pretty much a waste of time. Plus, it was so late into the cruise that they held it, that we already knew most of the people

  3.

Can you just order coffee to your room via room service in the AM, and then go to breakfast later? Or do you have to go up to the lido deck for coffee? (I am assuming no coffee makers in rooms)...

I bring my own coffee mug for the room service coffee. I like having a larger cup to drink from. I hate those little ones they give you. Like someone said previously, they don't let you fill your own coffee cups at the stations because of health reasons... and it's a pain to transfer it. I like to start my morning with some coffee and then go up later and get (hot) breakfast

  4. I will be cruising in October 2016 and would like to know how much cigarettes cost on board. Also, how much are they in Grand Turk & Freeport? How many cartons can be brought back to the US per person? Where are the smoking areas on the ship? I will be in a balcony cabin on the eighth floor. Is it true you can no longer smoke on your balcony? Thanks for all replies.

Depends on what you smoke... I got 2 cartons of Parliament Light 100s for $66... other brands are +/- around that...

  5. Hey all,

First and foremost, I've done tons of searches, and it's kind of hit or miss with the results, so please don't hate me if this has been answered, and I'm just blind :D

For the SELECT offer (which seems to be the bottom of the totem pole of Casino offers) - what exactly is included?

My PVP stated that it was only the lowered rate and some casino cash. I love my PVP, but reading some of these threads, it seems like a bit more MAY be offered.

One of the biggest things I want to know is if the drink card is included. I'm a HUGE budget person and try to have everything paid off ahead of time (or have the cash in my secret stash) so then nothing goes on my credit card.

I personally love the Cheers program, whether or not I break even is not a concern to me, it was the fact that it was paid for and I didn't have to worry about a thing...

Either way I'll still probably put away a few hundred bucks for my drinking needs... Don't hate, I work 3 jobs haha.

    Thank you all in advance!

  6. So, you basically just download the app from your app store (android=google play...Apple=appstore)... It's called "Carnival HUB - Breeze" (don't let the name fool you. They haven't updated it since other ships have started offering the service).

Once downloaded and installed, it asks for your cruise date and then begins a countdown. Once you're on board, you just click "log me in". The only part I don't know about is how to pay the $5 fee for the chat function. I want that too.

When you board and sign in, you will sign in with your folio number and you sail and sign will be charged.

  7. If you're only going to check in with family at home, you can get the social media package for $25 for the entire cruise. Facebook messenger works!

If you're going on the breeze and only need to check in with family that is on the cruise with you, get the Hub app (download prior to boarding), and it's $5 (per device) for the entire cruise to use the "text message" feature threw the app.

    Hope this helps.

This thread has gotten completely out of control.

    Everyone has germs. Especially kids.

Everyone can spread germs whether or not they have symptoms. This is especially true for medical personnel who have crazy amazing immune systems because of the constant exposure(s).

Wash your damn hands. Sneeze in your elbow. Cough in your elbow, even if you're just clearing your throat.

If your immunosuppressed, wear a mask and wash your hands more. But in all honesty, a cruise is probably not the BEST choice of vacation just due to the close quarters and such.

I don't believe people should "avoid vacations" because of one reason or another. Just take the precautions you need to do.

  9. We haven't done too much of the Caribbean cruising. However, we're looking at the Dream for January 14 - 10 day Eastern. Looks like we fly to San Juan and end up in New Orleans. The cost is $749 for a balcony, that sounds very cheap. Is there something I'm missing about this ship? I've learned that cheaper is not always better. Need some insight. Thanks.

It is because it sails out of one place and into another. It help draws in some people who are going to be offset by the cost of flying into San Juan and then having to get home from New Orleans

  10. I usually just put it in airplane mode while on the ship and on islands. I can still use it for picture taking. If I do notice there is WiFi I might connect to that but then turn it back to airplane mode

After you put your phone in airplane mode, you can go and manually turn wi-fi back on... so there would be no need to turn it off airplane mode to get wifi :)

  11. If you have a teenager who does receive a billion texts, I assume the safest thing is to just turn off the phone and leave it in the safe?

That would be your best bet... Depending on what ship you're going on (not sure if it is on all of them now or not), but the social media app lets people go on facebook, instagram, etc, and even use facebook messenger...

I'm a fairly social person and I think I'm just going to lock up my phone for the cruise... Vacation is for disconnecting!

  12. We will be on the Breeze in a couple of weeks and we all have i-phones. We will all have the Carnival Hub App and my plan was to pay for the social media package and do messaging through facebook to stay in touch back home.

Verizon advised to put the phone on airplane mode and turn data off to avoid any unexpected charges. My question is, will the social media plan and the Carnival Hub App work with the data turned off and the phone in airplane mode?

We have always just put our phones in the safe while on cruises but this time we plan to use them because of the new Carnival Hub App.

    Thanks!

After you put your phone on airplane mode, go back and put wifi on. That way you can use the social media package and the hub app.
