We are considering taking the Ship's excursion to the Pope's Summer Estate and Private Apartment at Castel Gandolfo but it is very expensive. As we are cruising in July, we wanted to escape the heat in Rome. We wondered if anyone has been on this excursion and if so, whether it is worth the cost. Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

We'll be in Dubrovnik with P & O on 19th May. It's our intention to catch the No 10 bus from Gruz bus station to Cavtat, spend some time there and return to Dubrovnik by ferry. Could anyone please advise us where to catch a bus from the Dubrovnik old town back to the Cruise terminal. Also, would this still be a No 10 bus? Many thanks,

Just to confuse you a little further. We were in Bari last June with Celebrity. We were undecided between the ship's excursion to Alberobello and their excursion to Matera and the Sassi - a centuries-old town with rock hewn churches and cave dwellings, layered one atop another. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has been used as the setting for many films, including Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of Christ'. These dwellings were inhabited until the 1950s, when people were moved to public housing in the newer section of Matera. Part of the old town is being regenerated, but as many authentically local touches as possible has been retained. It would be good to visit Matera now, before hoards of tourists discover it.

Many thanks for the detailed information. We're thinking it may be easier with the ship's excursion as it's a distance from Civitavecchia.
