  1. Has anyone sent Dockers pants to the ship's laundry ? I am trying to cut down on what we bring, but I am afraid from what I have read that the laundry will wash in hot water and dry on hot

Not sure if I want to subject my husbands pants to that treatment.

Anyone had a good ( or bad ) experience?

    Jane

Had a bad experience like last year on the Oasis,,everything came back so wrinkled,,complete waste of money,,I wouldn't do it,,they use really hot water and hot dryer..

  2. Not sure if this has been posted but effective today RCI has eliminated the $25 fee for unreturned towels.

Starting today, January 1, 2014, Royal Caribbean has eliminated the $25 (per towel) fee for unreturned towels.

Previously, you could rent towels from the pool deck but would be charged $25 per towel if you did not return it before the end of your cruise.

The change is being cited as a result of guests feedback and Royal Caribbean wanting to offer guests "greater convenience and help them enjoy their Royal Caribbean vacation even more."

Here is the full statement by Royal Caribbean as to why they decided to get rid of the penalty fee.

"We think this policy adjustment will offer guests greater convenience and help them enjoy their Royal Caribbean vacation even more. We’re constantly evaluating our policies and implementing feedback. This is just one of many ongoing changes and improvements we’ve made to ensure Royal Caribbean International is giving guests the Royal Advantage - the most innovative cruise ships, exciting itineraries to popular destinations, and world-renowned friendly and engaging Gold Anchor Service. "

Well hooray,,making sure your towels are back or else is a pain in the you know where,,so who wants their towels anyway to bring home:eek:

  3. Judith and I are both disappointed with the ship's TV selections.

There is no "Bridge Channel" which on other RCI ships rotates between a bridge cam and map views of the Caribbean showing the ships course and current location and weather radar.

    There is no FOX News

CNN seems to be more "talk programs" than headline news

Hi Jim,,enjoying your review as usual...wondeing why they don't have Fox news,,my hubby will be very upset if he can't get his nightly O'Reilly....

  4. I totally disagree! Please Americans avoid the older ships. Book on the new sets and biggest ones you can.

Then send more of your older ships to Australia. Seriously none of you want the voyager, radiance or rhapsody back. We will keep these older ships for you.

See how selfless us Australians are.

Now start sending more old ships down under!

P.s. They are not old to us they are in brilliant shape and the best ships to sail the pacific. Australians are loving the royal WOW treatment & ships

Funny,,but we love our "older ships",,sorry....:D

  5. As I've mentioned in other recent posts, I'm a generally happy, roll with the punches, glass is half full kind of guy.

But there was one thing on our last few cruises that was really driving me crazy (and I saw it numerous times on my cruise last week)-- the seemingly complete ignorance by a small but noticeable percentage of cruise passengers of the fact that it's not acceptable to shove your hands in your mouth and/or lick your fingers immediately before grabbing a serving utensil in the Windjammer.

Seriously people?? Are you THAT hungry that you just had to jam that pastry/ piece of bacon/etc in your mouth? Are you going to run out of energy during the 30 foot walk to your table?

And are you so rushed that you couldn't unfold the green cloth napkin that is IN YOUR HAND as opposed to engaging in an oral act with your finger that would get you an NC-17 rating if it were filmed??

It absolutely blows my mind. It's amazing that there aren't more illness outbreaks on cruise ships.

That's all. Just a little conversation starter/venting session.

    I feel better already... :)

And I agree,,I think they are just pigs who can't get the food in their mouth fast enough,,must have been raised in a barn....

  6. Hmm! starting to check prices on cruising in February. We love Rccl, but now we have a choice and princess is offering a better price for a cruise to the same ports.

Any pros and cons for Princess vs Rccl?

    Thanks for any info!

We were on the Crown a few years back and enjoyed it,,great ship,,food very good and the service wonderful,,you won't be disappointed...

  7. Just saw on WESH news tonight (Orlando) that Port Canaveral is going to spend 80 million on upgrades to the port. This will enable the largest ships in the world to dock at the port. The news didn't identify any ships, but stated the work will be finished in November 2014. Oh yea, the port is 45 minutes from my house. You know what that means.

Great news,,we are about 2hrs. from the port,,Tampa Bay area...:)

  8. Love your review,,we will going on our 4th cruise on the FOS come Jan.:)..great ship and crew..

Seeing you are from the Hudson Valley NY...just wanted to say , we bought our first house up there in HopewellJct..more than a few years ago,,loved it up there,,but alas,,business called and we moved to Long Island and then retired down here in hot and humid Fla. I'm sure it has changed a great deal in the Hudson Valley,,beautiful spot when we lived there,,hope it hasn't changed much...

  9. So glad to see the Freedom is still a great ship,,we will be going on her again in Jan.2014,,last year we were on the Oasis with the family...Oasis is beautiful and we enjoyed the cruise very much,,but have to say,,,mostly for young families.

I can say my grandaughter loved the kid's, zone and just wanted to be up there all the time...

Also glad to hear the park&go at PC is okay,,think we will use it this next cruise...

  10. Continuing on to Central Park:

And since we are currently touring Central Park, here's the Menu for Giovanni's Table, where we ate the first night:

    oasis2013109_zps76d2071c.jpg

I may have missed a page of the menu, because we had almond-encrusted scallops, and spinach and ricotta crepes, and I don't see either of those on these two pages.

I love Central Park the best,,so beautiful at night,,and yes Giovannia's was really good...

  11. Just a quick note to end the night...My in-laws had coffee and pastries delivered to their room every morning and the coffee delivered (as well as the coffee in the 24-hr Cafe Promenade (self-serve) and the MDR is VERY STRONG!!!! I ended up taking the mug and filling it half with hot water and half with coffee and it ended up perfectly.

Here's the Starbucks menu in case anyone is interested. They do not accept Starbucks gift cards as I've seen posted on CC. Also, the pastries ARE NOT FREE there...

We were on the Lady O the 19thJan./2013 sailing and your photos and remarks are bringing back good memories...Lovely family by the way..

Have to totally agree with you about the coffee all over theship...:eek:We like strong coffee but that was the worst on any one of our cruises...But it won't deter us from going on the great ship again.

Thanks for your review,,I am enjoying reading it...

  12. Did you check out Sleep Inn in Dania and La Quinta in Hollywood. These are usually among the least expensive decent hotels near the port/airport. If you go with Ext Stay, check out Cypress Creek Station no more than a mile north on Andrews Ave. They have several chain restaurants (Hooters, 5Guys, Sweet Tomatoes, Chammps, etc). and even a multiplex cinema.

Thanks for you answer,,I will check on those two hotels..and also thinking of going on Hotwire,,probably putting in a 3star...any thoughts on that...

  13. The last few cruises we have taken out of Pt.Canaveral,,this Jan. we are going on the Oasis,,,we live in the Tampa Bay area and will be driving down to Fll....

My question to you is,,,I am holding rooms at the Extended stay America,,,Andrews Ave..Cypress Creek,,got a good rate compared to the hotels close to the port..We will park the car at park&go so parking is not a issue..

Do you know how that area is for getting something for dinner on Friday eve..or any other hotel a little closer that isn't over $120 or better for one night,,,I can't get over the prices and how they have gotten so high..Yes, I know "high season" but I did find a couple of years back much better rates...Just wondering..any advice will be helpful...Thanks in advance:)

  14. Love these boards,,always get alot of help and information from everyone..
