  1. I just took my Canon G12 with a polarizer filter w/adapter and my benro travel tripod with a remote shutter release cable and some portable light modifiers on the trans Atlantic cruise. I brought along a half dozen or so of 4 and 8 gig SD cards and used iPad with Snapseed app to post process on the go. This set up worked quite well for me.

I purchased a Canon T4i and an 18-200 lens this spring and I'll probably take that combo with the aforementioned supporting gear along with a 50mm prime, a vari N duo polarizing filter and maybe a flash unit with a couple of Pocket Wizards for some off camera flash work, plus the G12 as a backup for the upcoming cruise in November.

  2. Taken a couple of weeks ago but I wasn't allowed to post it online until the physical announcements were mailed out.

My daughter had the idea from something seen on Pintrest and since her husband owns and runs a small dairy, it seemed appropriate. I built the box and designed the logo (added in post-process, not painted on) while she knitted the blanket and found the cow hat online (from England no less). The light was provided by a couple of wireless flash units slaved to my A77 and the artsy vignetting and lettering was done in Elements. We printed them at 6" x 6" and damn, they look good! :D

    A fun family project!

LOL. I had fun shooting on that ship. All kinds of subject matter. Love your shots, especially #2. Artfully done. I should probably do more shallow DOF work. Also, a nice pano. Is that a single capture or several stitched together?

Image#1 - Mariner of the Seas. One of the ship's art features overlooking the sports court (aft).

Image#2- Mariner of the Seas. A crew member volunteered to lead Tai Chi each afternoon on the Lido deck. He was graceful. The rest of us, not so much....This was a difficult shot. Harsh light and shadow. Lots of movement, lots of people in and out of the frame. Continous mode on the camera saved the day. This was the best of the dozen or so that I shot of the scene.

  5. I love this thread because I love photography (and cruising, of course...) -- may I ask that posters give just a little info about their pix -- location is what I am most interested in -- which port, which ship. -Seagoing Mom

The first image is pretty self evident. A pre-cruise tour in Pisa. My wife modeled for me to get his shot.

Image # 2 was taken in the ancient hilltop town of Orvieto, Italy.

Image # 3 was on board Mariner of the Seas looking at the reflections of the Lido deck from Lounge view glass windows on deck 14.
