I cannot recall the exact description as it was a shorex, but "our" boat was docked beside others offering similar boat trips at the very end of the harbour, itself attractive with many cafes, restaurants etc. and close to where the coach had to drop us off.

Thank you I have found several to choose from....thanks again....

    Thanks, euro cruise!

So Google maps works pretty well for this area then?  Because other areas of Italy are better navigated with Moovit, but I was having difficulty with it.  Can I pay with credit card on the bus?  Or is it cash only?  Or do I have to buy the tickets somewhere else first?

Hi - just wondering if you have done this yet? Looking to do the same in June! Good to hear of all went well!

sorry, cannot help on beaches as I don't recall seeing one, and you will know why when you see it.

We visited on a shorex from Ajaccio.  Bonifacio is spectacularly located, with an upper town high on the cliffs and a lower town around the small  harbour area. As part of our shorex we had an included boat trip from the harbour and it was extremely scenic. We then went to the upper town using the little tourist train and explored once up there.  Streets in the upper town are steep and very narrow, so much so that the crowds visiting at the time we were there made it difficult to walk around or even to stop to look at something. There are spectacular views from up there but without the little train to get us there, I doubt we would have opted for the very steep climb. Some of the crowds had come over from Sardinia using the ferries to visit for the day, but others must have been visiting from other locations on the island, as were we.

Should you decide against a beach day, I highly recommend you take a boat tour as it was one of the best we have taken anywhere. There were wonderful views of Bonifacio when leaving and arriving back, and we visited calanques and rock formations. We very rarely take a shorex, preferring to sightsee independently but we made an exception for this one and were not disappointed as  Bonifacio  is really  scenic.

You may need to do some homework to find information on beaches or small coves  close to the town, so Google (and Tripadvisor and others) may be your new friends.😀

Many thanks for this - I think you're right about beaches and it won't be that day! so the town and a boat trip sounds the way to go. Which boat trip did you do as you found it so good???

    Thanks again!

  4. We are docked here 730am - 8 pm in June and would really like to have a few hours on a beach. Anyone any experience of doing this? Advice on where and how to get there gratefully received!

Also any info on spending a few hours in Porto Vecchio?
    thanks

  6. We want to catch a ferry to Capri for the day from our AZ cruise in June....which has a stop in Sorrento.....(tender we believe) does the AZ tender go into Marina Piccola which is the area the Capri ferries go from in Sorrento?  Just trying to work out how long we need to leave to get from ship to ferry port in the morning.

    Many thanks

Not exactly dropped "right in the centre of town" but at the base of the cliffs from where it is a good walk up to the centre of Sorrento, or I believe there is now a lift one can use.

  8. We are docked in Sorrento from 8am to 6pm and would like to do Capri independently but are fearful of missing the ship's departure.

Can you book specific times on the ferries and are they reliable?

Any specific recommendations for ferry companies ?

If we dock at 8am what might be the most sensible earliest time to book a ferry?

    Thanks

@fraj1 be aware that there are significant differences between how d2d works in the US to how it works in the UK.

You also have the flexibility to have a couple, or more, days pre cruise to take the stress out of travelling.

Interesting! Any pointers on how different D2D is in the UK to US? Thanks!
