Florenceitaly, my first cruise was on the Fascination 11 years ago! That is certainly where my love for cruising (Carnival) started!

Good morning cruisers,

I'm sitting here at the Long Beach terminal for my first west coast and my first solo cruise! I have cruised 8 times previously, all out of Florida or NOLA. The embarkation process is quite different here...check in is outside?

Can anyone tell me if embarkation is typically smooth at Long Beach? I will post more once I'm on board, sitting at Serenity with Carnival's signature drink, "The Fun Ship."

Thanks for the advice. Because I booked so late (a few days ago) the early seating, which I prefer, was already on wait list. Being that I live on Central time in Missouri, I was hoping not to eat too late. I took your advice, though, and signed up for fixed time on the late seating.

I am a 24 year old male and I've decided to cruise solo next week on the Imagination. Does anyone have experience cruising solo? I have been on 8 cruises so far, and I have always gone with family or friends.

How does the MDR work for YTD for solo cruisers? Will I be seated with other "single" cruisers? Any tips/advice would for a solo cruiser would be a huge help!

Boarded the Sunshine this morning in NOLA! She is an incredible ship...certainly seems new and modern. So far, we are enjoying the Sunshine! I will post a detailed review upon return!

I am sailing with that itinerary on January 12th. I will post when I return.

Kids love the rope area. Pool tables, foosball, shuffle board, basketball. Fun area for my 4 teenage sons. They played while we enjoyed sailing down the Mississippi.

When you get back, can you let me know about what time you lose cell phone service going down the river?

Me, but I did not save the Fun Times. Sorry, I did not realize this was a new itinerary. It rained like crazy but we still had fun.

I am glad you had a fun cruise despite the weather. Your cruise was the first on that itinerary and mine (Jan 12) is the second. I was just curious to see some of the activities they had planned...

This was the first voyage from NOLA that had Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel on the itinerary. Did anyone from this sailing bring the Fun Times off the ship? If so, can you please post scans/photos of the pages from each day? We will be sailing on her January 12th with the same itinerary!

We are leaving on the Sunshine in two weeks so I am very much looking forward to your review.

When you get back, please post about how the embarkation process is. We will be sailing on January 12. We are staying at the Marriott Convention Center, so we're very close to the ship. When we sailed out of Port Canaveral, we would get to the ship between 9:30-10 and we would be sitting on the Lido Deck no later than 11:00. I hope N.O. is as organized as Canaveral!

We are cruising on the Carnival Sunshine in just over two weeks, and I must say, the biggest thing I am looking forward to on board is trying a Guy's burger! I know this restaurant is not 24 hours like the pizzeria, but does anybody know the hours of operation for it? Is it open late enough for dinner or a post-dinner snack/meal?

It is no secret that the food is my favorite part of cruising...:D

Can anyone verify if you have cell phone reception (Verizon or ATT) the whole way down the Mississippi? It makes sense that the reception would be "spotty," but I was curious to see if I would still have email/Facebook access from my phone going down the mighty Mississippi. I will be sailing on the Carnival Sunshine January 12th :)
