  1. There also has to be an understanding that cruising is not the vacation for everyone. If you found yourself bored on Carnival you might want to look into a vacation that involves adventure travel. There are days at sea and no cruise line can necessarily have something that will entertain everyone. We have sailed most of the major cruise lines and have found there are differences on all of them. I don't cruise to go to lectures or craft but on my cruises on other lines I have not seen that available either. I did do a short drumming class on Princess that was fun though.

I think a lot of people see the commercials for cruising and their expectations are a little higher than they should be. If you want to be entertained all day you are going to have to look at the big RCCL ships because I think that might be the only ship that will meet your expectations. NCL is also another line that might work for you but only on their newer ships. However you will not get on those ships for the price you paid to get on the Paradise. You chose the wrong vacation for what you wanted. There is nothing wrong with The Paradise, she just wasn't right for you. You might want to try the bigger ships and then decide if cruising is truly the vacation that you want. I hope you are able to find the right fit for you. Cindy

  2. If you look at our signature below you will see we have sailed many of the ships more than once. We live in Florida and will not travel to another state to cruise and we tend to take a couple short cruises a year and 1 longer one. So for us the price and itinerary are more important than the ship. We are actually looking at doing the Fantasy next year twice to get the days so we are Diamond on out 2017 Vista cruise! Cindy

  3. Hey Lola...there is a group of about 180 of us on that same cruise with you!!:D:D:D

We are on the Victory 10/03/2015 cruise also. If you haven't already, come over and talk to us on our Roll Call. It's pretty quiet so far but I think it will pick up as we get closer. Being the first ones at the port makes it more difficult for us becuase no one has scouted out all the fun stuff to do there. I am excited to find out though! Cindy

  4. There are significant delays with the road widening project from Amber Cove to Puerto Plata. It is way, way behind schedule.

Not sure if this will effect when Carnival begins using the port.

Oh No! I hope not. We booked this cruise because of Amber cove and the alternative would be Nassau. We never book a cruise to Nassau anymore if we can help it. There is still time but I wish Carnival would make decisions earlier than they do. Please keep us updated if you get anymore info. Cindy

  5. We love trivia and play as many as we can every cruise. When we used to sail with our kids it was hard to beat us. Everyone had their specialty. My husband knows sports and music. My first son is a walking encyclopedia of history and general stuff. My second son can tell you anything about TV and movies. My daughter always wins the logic games and I fill in when I can. Now it is just my husband and myself we usually find some great new friends and team up with them. On our Dream cruise we made lifelong best friends and played every trivia with them.We have always graded our own papers on Carnival and though I get upset about cheating but not enough to want to give my paper to someone else to grade. It just seems childish to have to do that. So if you think you would like to play trivia come and join in with some new friends and have a great time. Cindy

  6. We love Trivia and play every one. It is true that you get regulars and the competition can be very fun among the groups. When we sailed with our kids it was great because everyone had their specialty. My youngest knows everything about movies and TV, my daughter was great at the IQ and genuis trivia. My oldest is a history buff and my husband knows the music and I filled in with whatever I knew. We were hard to beat. It is a little harder now that they don't cruise with us but on the last few cruises we ended up meeting other and had a ball as a team. We really loved the Ultimate team trivia because it was a contest over many days and it was fun to come back and compete each day against the same groups. On the Breeze we would spend all afternoon on the Lanai doing back to back trivia and games. We even played musical chairs to break a tie in the men vs women's trivia. Going on Princess for the first time next month and I hope that they have good trivia.Cindy

  7. I'm planning to book the Victory's 5 day cruise (10/03/2015) that will make stops in Grand Turk and Amber Cove. If I'm correct, it'll be one of the first ships to make the stop in that part of DR. I can't wait!!! :D

Please come to our Roll Call once you book..it's small right now but I am sure it will grow! Cindy

  8. I second Mommom of 7 come on over to our Roll call. We love Halloween on the ship and are so excited. We have a big Halloween party the Saturday before the cruise so we had to think up 2 costumes. Luckily we have one for the cruise that is always a good one. When you cruise for Halloween you can use the same costume over and over because there are always different people to see it.

I hope you pop over to the roll call. We are going to meet up after muster drill at the port side Lido Bar. Come see us! Cindy

  9. I have to agree! Halloween on a cruise ship is so much fun. We will be on the Paradise this year and we can't wait. The costumes are so amazing and even the simple ones have won twice on the cruises we have been on. Two years ago there was a headless horseman that was amazing. Bring you costume and have a blast! Cindy

  10. Ginger Root pills are the answer ( as proven by Mythbusters). My son swears by them and he has never been sick since he started using them. Great for car and air sickness too. Another good thing is they are very cheap and no side effects at all. When he took any meds he became a Zombie. Cindy

  11. Do you know if there are age restrictions in the piano bar etc at night. My kids are 15 and 17. We are on the dream in 2 weeks! Cant wait! Glad you had a great time!

At the piano bar there are no age limit although children should be accompanied by an adult and remember it is a bar and after 10 o'clock it is very adult and no place for any child. Cindy

  12. You can also buy a gift card (which is refundable, unlike cruise cash) and have it sent to their email. I have been buying gift cards for my last 2 cruises and thats's what I told my kids I want for Christmas. They are harder to find on the website than cruise cash. You have to go to the bottom of the Carnival cruise page and under special offers is Gift Cards. If you don't use it all they send you another gift card or for our Breeze cruise they sent the unused portion in a check. Cindy
