Hi, have friends on board at present...an engine problem...left Brisbane an hour early (everyone notified), they received $100.00 per person compensation.. arrived first stop, Noumea 2 hours late, so it looks like a slow journey...

Its a huge world of mega finance out there. Some of the sums involved are way beyond comprehension.
Just as an aside ...have you ever noticed that when a new ship is christened , standing alongside or not far away is Prince Michael of Monaco ??? .
Hi Kiwi, do you mean Prince Albert of Monaco...???
kind regards, Lorraine :):)

Hi Billy and Charlies Mum...
DH and I sailed on The old Regal Princess in 1998..Canada and Alaska....never ever thinking she would eventually come down under to live..
.Since becoming Pacific Dawn, I have another 14 cruises up on her...and still love her.... yes things have changed over the years, but they have also changed on other Ships as well.
BTW, the Tiger is still there, just moved to another position...
just my 5cents worth.

Grab something that's prepackaged from the buffet like Cheerios. Agriculture is not allowed but cookies or muffins or croissants are not agriculture.
I was told by quarantine...if it goes in your mouth...then it is food....declare it.

I really doubt that pirates would target a cruise ship. Far too many people onboard for them to be able to control them.
We did go through pirate waters on our last cruise through the Suez Canal and I can assure anyone that there was lots of security on the ship, some specially trained and came onto the ship just before we went though the pirate waters with water guns and lots more equipment in huge boxes specially for pirate trouble.
Hi Lizzy, unfortunately pirates do attack cruise ships...
The MV Seabourn Spirit, a luxury cruise liner carrying 210 crew members and passengers, was attacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia.[8] Riding in two small speedboats, the pirates fired at the ship with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, but the crew drove them off with a water hose and a long range acoustic device.[9]
copied from ships attacked by pirates.. have a read,..,,interesting.

Always leave a list of numbers .. in case of emergency.
P&O ship number.
arrival and departure.
(all available for print off etc on P&O site. under,, how can people contact me at sea..)
duct tape...comes in handy for repairs to luggage, hems etc. also to tape sliding drawers, doors etc during rough weather...so annoying to hear the bang .
stick on note paper for leaving messages on dresser....meet me at..etc..

Lorraine, what is a "scrubba wash bag". Please inform an experienced cruiser. Something I haven't heard about.
Hi, it is a bag you put water and liquid soap into, then some clothing..seal the bag, get out any air...close again, and gently rub. there are small nodules inside...then empty water, add new water to rinse.. then wring washing and hang out or up.
people buy them for camping etc.
you can buy them on the net...scrubba washbag.

Baby Monitoring between Cabins
in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Posted
Hi, I was under the impression that no young children were allowed to sleep on their own in cabins, they must have an adult with them.( especially a 2 year old.)
that was for most shipping companies.
